I am 27 and I have been avoiding men all my life. My father was emotionally abusive towards me, made me not to trust men. I have never had any male friends or boyfriends or whatever... It's hard to mature and have grown up relationships even with my female friends.
@parissk53154 жыл бұрын
Same I'm 16 and I still live with my parents. They're both emotionally abusive and don't care about my health, but what probably triggered my phobia was how boys treated me at school. When I was in middle school, people would call me names and make fun of me (especially boys). A male teacher made me and other girls uncomfortable by touching our hands, shoulders, and even thighs whenever he would talk to us. In high school, this guy would call me racial slurs, hit me, and make fun of me. He even cracked my fucking wrist before. I reported him but the administration didn't do shit. I just hope I don't get harassed by men anymore.

@tm.26664 жыл бұрын
@Brock lesner well then , the world needs more men like that
@tm.26664 жыл бұрын
@Brock lesner if thats the case why are nearly 40 percent of female homicide victims killed by a domestic partner and why is domestic violence the leading cause of death for women ages 15-49 worldwide? why is there a multi million dollar sex traficking industry most victims which are female? why do women carry pepper spray when they go out and why are we told not to walk outside at night? maybe theres some good men but women generally live their lives in fear of men and millions of women die and suffer at the hands of men. "men protect women" is mostly a PR lie.
@tm.26664 жыл бұрын
@Brock lesner majority of murder is done by men as well. and if women were treated as vip for all of history why was marital rape and domestic violence legal and why werent women allowed to have bank accounts or own property? women were treated as livestock. i agree pornography is bad and should be stopped, and the porn industry further proves my point that many men harm women in various ways, including media. but the root of the issue is deeper. sadly even before porn many men view women as objects and have no empathy to them, porn just feeds into that already existing male mindset. even before porn and media, rape and harrasment happened. women in the victorian era used to carry these long metal needles in their hats to ward off harassers. additionally, your point about the clothes doesnt make sense bc women fully covered get raped too, like in the middle east. theres even some studies that say women who are more covered may get raped more bc they are seen as more meek and submissive and out of sight. men may be destined to protect women but a good lot of them sure use unfair advantage to just control and hurt them. a lot of men just hate women as seen in how it manifests in real life violence and media portrayals and even music that brags about raping women. and i wish they didnt. id agree that men should be taught to view women as humans and not objects to help stop these issues as well as getting rid of porn.
@tm.26664 жыл бұрын
@Brock lesner mothers who abuse their children are wrong and bad , yes. But you don’t see me trying to rationalize it and justify it whereas your trying to blame rape on something as insignificant as women’s clothing. Rape is a very bad crime and it’s not triggered by something as simple as clothing, and this mentality only blames the victim and takes away accountability from the bad guy so it’s contributing to the problem . If you think rape is bad and should stop , dont blame the victim. Additionally stop trying to rationalize or downplay the fact that women were oppressed in the past. Women couldn’t have credit cards until the 70s. Ruth baded Ginsburg graduated top of her class and she had trouble finding a job bc she was told women are too emotional to be in law. It’s important to acknowledge how bad things were in the past so if doesn’t happen again. Marital rape isn’t the solution to adultery , men need to control themselves.
@tm.26664 жыл бұрын
@Brock lesner maybe your not justifying rape but your saying it’s caused by exposure of female body , which isn’t true , the human body is natural and before civilization in caveman times women weren’t covered head to toe. If the female body is presented in disrespectful and dehumanizing ways in media then yeah it will lead to disrespect, so society has to be taught to respect women. Also men giving their lives once every 100 years participating in wars started by other men doesn’t justify them to enslave all women lol

I'm scared of men because I've been sexually harassed by my own step grandfather! He has done this when I was 8 and sometimes now It has happened for a very long time until I told my mom... She forgot about it so he never got in trouble... He is still at my grandmother's house and hasn't done anything bad to me until I woke up a little early and found him hugging me but in an uncomfortable way... He also always is asking me for hugs randomly or when I want something... I'm scared and when I feel good one day and wear a dress or skirt I always see a man looking at me I don't like it! I don't know if I should tell my mother or anyone else this right now because I'm afraid of them telling me " you should've told me sooner!" Even though I did.... I lose sleep because I feel like my brothers would do something bad to me! If I like a guy I quickly lose interest in them because I think they're going to do something bad to me! My dad when I was a baby would always try to hurt my mom and I would even get to the point where we would have to sleep in the car! I have been suffering from this phobia since I was four. It developed from my father whenever he comes home drunk and wants to cuddle. I always cry but my mother never understood why. I never wanted to get touched by a man, even my father and my brother without my consent. Gladly, it lessened due to my family has more male members. I learned how to get along with them and even had some guy friends. But never did I let them touch me because my androphobia gets triggered whenever I receive caress from any guy that I am not comfortable with, well I'm really not physically comfortable to guys. Same here, I was a dumb kid and was at a family party (Where random people walked in and out they were strangers) My dad was not the best looking after me and my sister so while he was talking to a bunch of dudes, this guy bends down and grabs the plastic cups behind us and said something in the lines of "Hey wanna catch some fireflys?" He seemed really friendly and he had this goofy voice which i thought was funny at the time. I was jumping up and down excited after being bored just sitting there waiting to go home. So we were trying to catch a few and all of a sudden he says "Theres not many over here, Let's go over there" And point's to the side of the house, But the weird thing was no one was over there and it was SUPER dark. from where i was standing i couldn't see any firefly's but he stuck his hand out saying "Lets go over there to catch some more" I was with my sister and she was 2 years older than me so obviously she knew this guy was weird. She grabed my hand and told me no but i was dumb and really wanted to catch a firefly. so she went to our cousin (she was a teenager so she wasn't much help) she told us not to go with him but was stuck on her phone. he was saying "Come on were just gona catch some really quick" still holding my hand. Thankfully after i actually started to give it thought, i had a weird feeling in my stomach and said "No" he looked REALLY disappointed and looked around for a bit then just randomly left. Like just up and left the party really mad. I'm thankful i have my sister who is there for me and lookes out for me. But now i have trust issues with men. @Brunzner Accepting feedback and criticism is one thing, but experiencing a mental aversion is something that requires healing, not condemnation through words like "stupid." Of course, people may criticize others for their aversions, as they cannot know the full extent of their lives. However, once they come to understand the reasons behind these reactions, there is no need for further meaningless criticism. At the very least, they should wish for their recovery and, if needed, offer help and support.

I think it is inherent in more women than we think I wasn't abused as a kid I just can't be around men, I literally run walk/run away from men who try to approach me it's always been that way I can't even be alone with my own family. Yes my dad was an asshole ( not necessarily abusive) and any little thing would set him off but I can separate my feelings towards him from my feelings towards other men, except for the fact that at one time i didn't think men were capable of love it's a stupid opinion now but every now and then it pops up that's about the only real bias I have towards men I'm blaming my dad for that one.

I can't be alone in the same room as a man because in the past, the few men I hung out with always started touching me against my will. No matter how many times I tell them to stop they did not take me seriously, so now I avoid alone-time with men at all cost. I even avoid going to interviews where I know I will be interviewed by a man because the mere thought of going is just too horrifying. But the worst experiences is when it is with a friend and they make a move, even though I make it clear as hell that I only want to be friends. I hate how they always want something sexual to come out of it- why can't they ever 'just be friends'? I have gone to therapy multiple times, trying to get rid of or at least ease my fear, but nothing works. I don't trust men and probably have to live with this fear for the rest of my life.

(so, for example, 14-however old is really old in your opinion.) there are a few men i feel comfortable around, however, like my dad or acting teacher, but thats it. its hard everyday to even be in school (when i even am in school) and be around the opposite sex. i feel sick everytime im around them for too long. it feels weird, but physically, i cant help it. im not sure if my situation is even valid, but thats my story.

I think I might have this can anyone help me out? I’m 13 and have never had a negative interaction with a man but every time I see one my body goes into a fight or flight state and I freak out. I’m alright with ones 0-15 but any older I’m just uncomfortable. I see them as walking threats when they’re probably just really nice people. But that could just be my paranoia and perhaps just a fear of harassment? Idk someone please help me out

Lmao that sounds a lot like me, I’m 13 and while I’ve never been abused by anyone, when I see older men (like older than 18) I get really scared they’re going to assualt me. I feel really bad about it though, because it’s not their fault at all and they may be great people. Im sorry I can’t help you out, I mean if I knew how to feel better I wouldn’t have searched “I have an irrational fear of men”, however maybe I can make you feel a bit comfortable with knowing that there’s others in your situation. Just me knowing this is a real phobia made me feel more at ease personally, so seeing your comment made me feel even better about myself. I’m just scared this will go on forever and I’ll never feel comfortable around men :(
@Lucy-nw4im4 жыл бұрын
Queen 0 Absolutely! I’m like that around any man over 16 really. I’m always scared that they will (as you said) assault me or that they’re thinking about me sexually and it makes me so uncomfortable. However, I’m alright around men that are officially gay and I’m also fine around women that are Lesbians or anything else that involves attraction to other women. I suppose women just aren’t scary. No man has ever even made a sexual comment towards me but I suppose they have in dreams so perhaps that’s it. For some reason I’m fine around my peers even as they make more sexual comments than anyone else but I’m not scared. I think this started, or at least increased when I became religious. I’m big on waiting until marriage and getting assaulted would ruin that so maybe that’s the fear. I just hope that this will wear of when I get older and expand to men my own age. For example, when I’m twenty I’ll be fine around twenty year old men or maybe it’ll stay forever. I hope for the first, but suspect the latter.

Also, another incident: I was at a party and a lot of my family members were there, i went outside a few hours after and i saw my half brothers talking to the rest of my family and i went up to talk to them... it was all going fine until... my half brother put his arm around me and one of his hands dropped at one of my breast, he didn't grab it his hand just dropped there... i was really uncomfortable but i acted like i was alright, ever since then, i hate when ppl make comments about my breasts or when someone gets too close to me...

I’m not really sure if I have Androphobia, but I’m scared of guys if they intimidate me. I was sexually harassed by two boys, first when I was 6 (by someone who was 12 years old, maybe?) and in 3rd grade (they were the same age as me). I’m too scared to speak up about my sexual harassment anyway because I don’t think people will take it seriously. I’m afraid of guys I consider in my head, “cool” or something. I start twitching(?) around them and it’s really annoying because I can’t control it in any way. But guys I consider “gay” or less intimidating don’t really make me twitch. I don’t have this issue around girls, though. My dad also left me when I was younger, so I didn’t really ever have any male role models in my life. I really want all this to stop so badly. I know I shouldn’t be scared of guys because there are probably decent human beings that’re guys out there, but I can’t control it. I also have a lot of other issues but this is all I’ll say.

Hi there,I think you should talk about this with somebody you feel comfortable around or maybe with a therapist if you can.It's really important bc in life you have to be around men and you should overcome this feeling/phobia.I know exactly how it feels,I've been afraid of men most of my life.The way I smother my anxiety around men is that when I'm close to them I think about it is 'normal' to be around them,so I try to act like I have confidence and I don't care what gender they are and if you can persuade yourself ,you've won.Also you should find male friends.I have a lot and since then I'm more comfortable around them than I used to but it's always easier if they are gay...Trust me there are good men maybe if you know girls who have male friends you should befriend that guy too.But these are just advice,at least I hope I could help a little ^^ Best wishes

My father was really abusive towards me. He had slap me, kick me, smack me with his belt, squish my head with his foot, flick my ears, call me names (stupid, ugly, fat, dirty, prostitute), and after doing all that, he stopped talking to me for some quiet time until he forgot and start talking and acting like nothing ever happened between us. I really hate myself to be born as female, because once I tried to run away from him but he caught me and I can't do anything about or power's difference. My mother never really care about me so when my father did all of that, she's just pretending not to notice. The reason of why he's doing all of that was always because I tried to talk back to him, in the sense that I also want to be heard. I would have bruises all over my body after that, so when I'm going to school or going outside in general, I would always use sweater and long pants. In school, boys and girls make fun of me, calling me names, they left me alone when the teacher told us to make a group. I rely alot on movies and animes to heal the wound in my heart. But even until now (at the age of 27) I still can't move on from that past. I'm currently living alone renting a small room, work as a teacher, and have one cat. The existence of my cat help me a lot when I'm stressed out from everything, including the nagging from my parents who urge me to get married. The heck with getting married, I don't even have that many friend (only 5 and all females), never in a relationship, never even fall in love. I don't really bring much impact to the society anyway, should I just kill myself?
@AlphaArika232 жыл бұрын
I realize that I have this phobia. I believe it began in my childhood by having no positive male role models in my life or a dad. My mom married a man who never interacted with me or my siblings in a positive way. When she wasn't around and was at work, he used to bully and intimidate me or yell at me for something I didn't do. He even broke my basketball goal for no reason just to take away from me something that I loved. I'll never forgive him or forget it. He tries to say hello to randomly, then walks past me the next time he sees me. Continuing the emotional abuse. I really don't know why he has a hatred towards me. The sad part, my mother sees it. And does nothing. I suppose if he was a pedophile she would turn away to. Like others do. God has something in store for him... Later in life, I was drugged and sexually assaulted just for going to the movies with someone I knew. After that I've avoided men permanently. They assume I'm just gay and prefer women but I'm actually just traumatized. I can't even take my son to the barbershop. It makes me very uncomfortable and anxious. I just take him inside and go sit in my car until he's done. Lastly, when men approach me or try to flirt with me I feel anxious and get away from them as quickly as possible or throw their numbers away. I don't think I could ever get married. Some men are just monsters. And when you're traumatized by one, you look at all of them the same and it's hard to distinguish who's good or bad, so you avoid them all due to your life experiences that have been bad involving them. Androphobia is trauma related.

Also it keeps men from staring at my body (not always unfortunately), and most of the times, if not always, with my short hair and hat they think I’m a man, so I know I have like 10% more chances of not getting whistled at or called kitty kitty in the streets or getting raped. I’ve had it not because of any trauma but because a lot of young people get sexually harassed and abused by men and men about my age which really scares me no I’ve never been sexually harrsssed

I dont know why are some people afraid of male or female...???
@jodie10904 жыл бұрын
it's mostly trauma that they experienced from the past. but if you're talking about ppl who don't have trauma, maybe they feel intimidated by older men. And i mean their presence. Some men are arrogant, or short-tempered. Or they just get bad vibes from them? I got bad vibes from the janitor at my school, it wasn't weird since i don't have this phobia, but just think about ppl who have this phobia, they would probably ran away by now. But as for the fear of girls.. was there such a thing though? Maybe someone does, but it's very rare. They have no reason to get intimidated by us since it's mostly men who do that. Unless it's a physical abuse when they were a child (like a mom).

@@Booksfromthecloset people fear Karen’s because they are usually narcissistic and selfish, but I have seen some people on the internet who fixate on their race, but otherwise it’s because “Karen’s” are usually terrible people.

Stay close to men and try and interact with them. You will eventually build up the social skills required for having good interactions with men if you do that.
