Have you ever engaged in CBT? What was your experience with it? What did you find most useful about it?
@maxih38983 жыл бұрын
I find CBT useful in many areas of my life. I have no formal experience with it, but I apply the basic principles in my journey to peak mental wellness.
@petersharp76442 жыл бұрын
Yes, I started a group CBT course but unfortunately it was halted towards the end owing to lockdown restrictions. I found it useful and it helped me to understand how the way I thought about things and behaved affected things so much. In particular learning not to avoid situations that made me feel worse, together with the need to accept unpleasant physical sensations and frightening thoughts. Thankyou for posting, Doctor

Very helpful, Dr. Rami! Thank you. CBT got me out of extreme emotional imbalance many moons ago - the '70's...if you don't practice and apply, then CBT won't do much, as you said. I do like your style. Sorry I had a problem with your dark background in the past - I got over myself...
@DrRamiNader4 жыл бұрын
No worries about the dark background :) You are absolutely right - you get out of CBT what you put into it, so in that sense, it's not for everyone. For someone who wants therapy to "cure" them without any effort on their part, they will likely be disappointed with CBT.

I'm still busy watching, but felt the need to comment on the disclaimer: I understand that this is not meant to be a replacement or substitute for professional advice. The sad reality is that many are not able to get professional help. The closest some of us can get to professional help is through people such as yourself, and I'd like to thank you.

Hi Maxi - thank you for your comments and I share your sentiments. I live in a country (Canada) that takes tremendous pride in its universal health care system. However, that universal health care seems to only apply to physical, not mental, health. So we do the best we can. And I am glad these videos can offer some help and assistance to people.
@maxih38983 жыл бұрын
@@DrRamiNader , we should continue to spread awareness so that mental health gets the support it deserves. I'll also be happy to support you in the small ways that I can as I continue to apply your advice on my journey to peak mental wellness.

Yes but you can force yourself into laugh and then your brain will figure that you CAN SMILE AND LAUGH. Science is also telling us that fake smile can produce REAL SMILE. And the brain will find it satisfying. And will repeat again NATURALLY. Think how you are laughing inside, how happy and goofy you can be. So, you CAN with your power of will, with your soul and mind cheer yourself up. You can because you can be your worst enemy or best friend. Power of our mind is enormous, we are much stronger than we were told we are. We can heal ourselves.

Very Happy to find your channel Rami, Can you please create more videos showing how CBT session lookalike ? can we do it by ourselves ? Thank you
@DrRamiNader3 жыл бұрын
Hi Moki - welcome to the channel and thank you for your support. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a skills based form of therapy, meaning anyone can learn and practice the skills. If you haven't already, I'd encourage you to take a look at some of the videos on the channel that discuss various skills to address different types of problems. Those are skills anyone can try and practice.

A really interesting and informative video Dr Nader, thankyou for posting. Would you consider doing one on Psycho-Dynamic Therapy as well, please? Thankyou.

Hi Peter - I'm not trained in psychodynamic therapy and believe that I should only make videos on topics I know. I'm glad you found the video helpful.

Is learning the techniques of CBT and trying to apply them to myself is as effective as working with a therapist?
@DrRamiNader4 жыл бұрын
For a lot of people, learning and using the CBT skills can be all they need. That's why I started this channel. However, for others, they can benefit from having a therapist guide them in learning and using the skills.
