I think your optimism about Foreman living healthy as the reason why he has no CTE symptoms is misplaced. Some people are just built different, in Foreman's case, he was built better than most to take a beating. He also certainly has not maintained a healthy weight post-career.

My condolences, my father also died from suicide, and so did his father… my dad suffered a lot in his last few years, he had this “8 year long headache” as he put it. When it all started, he said his left eye had like kaleidoscope vision, and was extremely painful. He eventually lost all vision in his left eye, and I remember him saying that the right eye was beginning to have the same problem… That was just days before he died. He couldn’t take the pain anymore. He was once a successful roofing supply salesman; he’d been a roofer for years, but fell off a roof in the mid ‘80s and broke his heel, and a lot of other injuries. My mom said he was never really the same after that. He started drinking more, by the time I was 14 he was drunk 24/7 and doing meth. He lost everything and became homeless on the streets of San Diego… I can remember growing up that he would randomly just have these injuries from getting into fights. I was too young to know the real story behind it all, but I remember seeing him with black eyes, cuts on his fists and face, etc…. This month is actually the 5th anniversary of his passing. In the last couple days I’ve gone down this rabbit hole learning about cte, and now I’m quite certain that he had some stage of dementia… he wanted his brain to be donated to science so that we could figure out wtf was wrong with him, and why doctors couldn’t give him an answer. My family was too poor and broken to have any kind of funeral or anything for him, everyone basically ignored his last wishes and I’ve felt so guilty. I really think I have the answers now, and maybe in some way, wherever his soul is, maybe he does too. Sorry I didn’t intend for this to be so long….. god bless and stay safe!

I think I have CTE. I slam my head into doors and concrete walls when I am upset to the point I bleed and a couple times hit so hard clear shiny fluid come out my nose and hallucinate and insomnia after I banged my head. I did this for about 20 years and for 10 years really extremely bad. And I lost most of my vision because of increased brain pressure from hitting my head. I’m 30 now. I struggle to count money, to shower, organize my room and even put dishes away because of the brain fog is so bad. I isolate a lot now. I changed a lot. And when they did a lumbar puncture to diagnose my high brain pressure they found a build up of protein and she suggested I see a geneticist to test for some terminal disease that I refused to go do because I’m so tired. I have autism so I do lots of harm to my body when I’m upset. And lately I feel like it getting worse.

I’m so sorry for that, I can relate to this, I also struggle with autism and I would bang my head on walls, but never anything as serious as you - I also completely stopped this behavior in hopes that wouldn’t harm my brain. ARE YOU THERE, can you tell me what is happening to me now. I have CTE since early 2000's, actually maybe before then. But now in 2024, the underneath of the top of my scull feels like it has grime stuck underneath it, like its all decayed on the underneath of my skull and it burns... but at the same time, my brain... and my head, both always hurt, I feel pain all the time. I take pain killers of both types and its like they have no affect, even if the pain is very slightly deadened for ten minutes, it just comes back and I have to keep taking more tablets and still the pain remains... the pain does not go away, its there always. The pain is there when I wake up and when I go to sleep, but I cannot sleep properly, I keep being woken up like every twenty minutes or so by very clear loud explosion noises in my head that do not exist... the noises are not real, there in my head and loud bangs, and multiple bangs keep going off in my head that I cannot get a decent nights sleep... because am constantly woken up by loud explosions going off in my head that are not real and do not exist in the real life living world.
