Dingles is great! Another alternative is to give an extra point for a clean winner on the second point - we do it where if my side lost the first point, and we win the second point with a clean winner, then net we end up with one point. Alternatively, if the team who won the first point hits a clean winner on the second point, then they get 2 points. Gives incentive to go for more / be more aggressive, and maybe then helps more with doubles.

There's so many variations of this game. Good fun, especially when one person can't quite keep up, it doesn't make them feel so bad, because they still win a couple of points.

This looks fun! Some hitting partners recently mentioned dingles, and we are going to play soon. LVBL in LA is also doing a great job creating a tennis community around the game of live ball. It's similar to king of the court but more continuous play.

Doubles is the heart of club tennis. I play a lot of paddle tennis in LA, too, and we play doubles almost exclusively because it’s fun and social. I’d love to try dingles!

Thanks for demonstrating how it works. I have been hearing that word more and more lately and only had a vague concept of how to play. I understand why you would want the rule to be that you have to win the cross court rally point and doubles point. Cheaters will definitely lose the cross court rally intentionally to have the positional advantage in the doubles point with out that rule.

I do play dingles! Played a fun round Robin tournament with friends over the summer but mostly see it as a doubles warm up game. It's challenging and can be frustrating for me because at the moment the baseline is the weakest part of my game. But it's good to work on weaknesses sometimes!

Good to hear, yeah, it is always important to work on weaknesses, but the fun format of Dingles makes it easier.

Hated it for my own adult drills class when I was a student. But now that I am coaching highschool kids I may introduce it to them.

Lol Dingles is what the old ladies play at our club. 2 players at baseline rally crosscourt until one misses. The other 2 stand at the net and watch.😅

I've played this before and totally forgot about it. My friends always wanna just mindlessly rally, so I'm gonna suggest some dingles next time.

My favorite doubles variation: only one serve, everyone must start from behind the baseline (besides the returner).

I never got along w/ Dingles. It's a different rhythm and affected my focus. If I won my crosscourt rally, only to find out my partner lost theirs so no point scored... I can see it useful as a drill to work on concentration and mental toughness, but it's not fun for me compared to regular doubles. I can see ppl w/ ADHD enjoying it though b/c after one point ends there's another right away. I also prefer things like sip & serve social tennis. (every game you win, you an d your partner take a 'sip' of beer)

If there's only 3 of us we play THRINGLES. 2 against 1. The one players has the doubles court to play to where the pair are. The pair usually win, but it's better than nothing. Maybe there's a better game for 3 people? Anybody?
@Maiqel
@Maiqel Ай бұрын
I play like this too, only the one playing single always serves, and when the game ends, we rotate so every game a different person plays single (and serving). Normally the ones that win the game win 1 point each, either it's the single or the doubles, but if one finds it too one-sided, it could be 2 points to the single.

why not play 3 on 3? this is especially the case with amateur players or casual players that can make tennis more accessible to beginners with less running and less intensive

Best way for me to enjoy dingles....the first ball "won" doesn't count, just the final ball in play. Why is it fun? Well I watch for my partner to be hitting maybe a down the line shot, by error, but it will go in, as soon as I see it, before it bounces on the other side I slam my crosscourt ball into the fence behind me, yell DINGLES....then my partner ball bounces and we win a point! Otherwise, boring.
