Free Radicals are Atoms missing an Electron! not molecules missing an atom. But since they often not only grab an electron but the whole atom it belongs to and form a new molecule with it, i can see where the confusion came from.

Love it! Could you do a video on how to tell if your hair need proteins, hydration, oils and so on? I know it's super basic knowledge but I just have no clue what I'm doing wrong 😅

If it’s mushy when wet it’s over moisturized. If it’s breaking and snapping easily and rough it has too much protein.
@lauriemoser90703 жыл бұрын
Yes this!
@ducklingscap8973 жыл бұрын
Strand test: Take a strand of hair and stretch ist. If it doesn't stretch and easily breaks it means you hair needs moisture. Take a strand of hair (after shampooing but before putting stuff on it, take clean hair), soak it in water and stretch it. If the hair stretches a lot and then breaks you need protein. Just observe your hair. If your hair If is dry, easily tangled, feels weak and you often use heating irons/blow dryers it needs moisture. Split ends, a lack of shine, and inability to hold a heat style could be a sign of dehydrated hair. Does it dry fast? That could mean it has low porosity and it needs protein regularly. If your hair feels hard and rough, maybe brittle it is a sign that you have too much protein. If it feels gummy it has too much moisture. The only way to really balance your hair's protein is through your diet. All other treatment can just temporarily try to fill in the "holes" in the hair cuticle. If you think your hair needs protein keep in mind that proteins come in different sizes. If you have thin hair big proteins won't be able to penetrate so they won't help you. Proteins by size are: Amino acids -> peptides -> hydrolyzed proteins. But if you can't figure it out maybe your hair is healthy and you don't need to do much. If you have healthy hair it could be pretty balanced. I have thin low porosity hair so I don't need to do anything special since my hair is pretty balanced.

I’m a chemistry major and I loveee free radical chemistry, it’s so cool! Just a note that free radicals are actually atoms on a molecule that are deficient of one electron. They are so reactive and they set off a chain reaction. As soon as one oxygen radical reacts with a neutral species it forms another radical until a termination step occurs. Antioxidants essentially give up an electron to neutralize the free radical but instead of forming one on their own they are far less reactive than the initial one. An important thing to remember when discussing chemistry is we almost always talk about electrons and not really atoms themselves.

@dopemakeup3 жыл бұрын
Not Kayley, but I had really bad hair loss as well due to stress from the pandemic! What really helped me was trying to eat healthier foods, using castor oil (it helps blood flow which in turn helps bring nutrients to your follicles) and using generic rogaine. It's been a little over a year and I would say 1/3 of my hair grew back! I also hear amazing things about Rosemary water (there's lots of KZbin videos on how to make it) So, I sincerely hope that helps you and know that it will get better and we're here for you!
@karinamp073 жыл бұрын
This happened to me as well. I had severe anemia and lost a lot of weight at the same time so my hair was almost like a thin strip on the top of my head lol. What helped me a lot was going the doctor and treating my anemia by supplementing with iron and taking specific vitamins for hair growth. It takes time to notice a difference, but eventually you will see some growth and feel much better. I hope it helps you! Get well soon 🥰

Seconding this, though would love it if the video could acknowledge people like me with androgenetic alopecia who mostly can’t get our hair back, except sometimes with a medicine that isn’t super effective, and is more about slowing the loss, and talk about good hairstyles and cuts when you have a lot of balding areas.

I'd love to see a video on sun damage and hair! It'd also be really great if, in whatever list of sunscreen for hair options you include, there was one for people who don't typically style their hair or don't use hairspray or similar hair products. I know you've mentioned hairsprays with UV protection before, but I've found it pretty difficult to find sunscreen for hair that doesn't have a different primary use, and as someone who hates stuff on my hair, I'd really appreciate it if there was an option to apply sun protection to my hair whenever I go outside, like with sunscreen for skin, without having to deal with the other functions of the product too.
