I like the motivation part in terms of treatment and continuing treatment in the community after physiotherapy session. I think motivation and tying in exercise with what a patient is more likely to do day to day is a good idea.

What about a weekly leg session in the gym? Would that help?

Hi all, my Xray reports are ok, and mri report DOES NOT mention the word CARTILAGE. It only mentions ACL sprain(no tear). I still have loud crepitus and so much pain in left knee. I don't know what more test is available for OA. I am just 61 kg at 6 ft height , male. age 26

Khalid what’s the reason for the cartilage to get thinner with age?
@ClinicalPhysio
@ClinicalPhysio Жыл бұрын
Great question Nina!! The short answer is a combination of… 1) forces on the joint leading to compression and degeneration of cartilage over time, 2) this degeneration and inflammatory processes being at a faster rate than what the body can keep up with when trying to build the cartilage back…. For the longer answer, we have a whole webinar on Osteoarthritis which goes through EVERYTHING to do with this condition at clinicalphysio.com/on-demand-webinars

Very informative. I was playing golf and just was walking and heard a loud pop. My knee became swollen and i was unable to walk on it. I received a cortisone shot and was told I had osteoarthritis. About 3 or 4 weeks in I was working out and was almost back to normal leg work out, later on that night I was walking, and my knee had another large POP. This has been almost 6 weeks ago and I still cannot walk without it shifting or feeling like a pop is around the corner. Soon as I feel normal is around the corner it pops and back to square 1. I cannot walk a flight of stairs without holding on tight. Is this my story from now on? Do I have to walk with a cane? I am an active 51 year old diagnosed with moderate to severe osteoarthritis.

If you're an obese person who is in his or her sixties and is still fat then the pain will be much, much worse! And you'll be forced to pay for a very expensive knee replacement operation
