I got the great honor to sit and interview my friend Alisa Childers on her brand new book "Another Gospel: A Lifelong Christian Seeks Truth in Response to Progressive Christianity." It tells the story of how she struggles with questions she had after a class she took at a Progressive church. It challenged everything she knew.
We talk about what Progressive Christianity is, what to look out for, some well known Progressive Christian names, and much more!

I declare, the older I get, the more I appreciate Jesus planting me in the rural countryside, where the city is many miles away, and the church is around the corner, and the Bible is the unquestioned Word of Almighty God, and neighbors love one another, and Jesus Christ is the Lord God Almighty manifest in the flesh, who is on the throne in Heaven and reigns eternal as the King of our hearts. Thank You Jesus, for green grass, rolling hills, blue skies, warm sunshine, and most of all, thank You my Lord and Savior for Your amazing grace that saved a wretched sinner like me. I long for the day when I can kneel at Your feet and tell You how much I love You Jesus. I’m sorry Lord for all the times when I was younger and I complained about living out here in the boondocks. With all the madness in the world, & people trying to change true faith in Christ, these old boondocks are a welcome comfort where we can behold the glory of Christ’s creation, and hear the birds sing praises to Jesus, just like we do. Jesus Christ, El Shaddai, Adonai, let His Holy Name be lifted on high, let all creation magnify the mighty name of YHVH, let every creature proclaim Jesus Christ, Lord of lords and King of kings!🙌🏻✝️👑

Ladies, it's interesting that you all would talk about knowing the real thing so when the counterfeit comes your way, you'll know it. When I was a banker as an exercise we would count dollar bills, and count dollar bills and count dollar bills. Then they would throw in a counterfeit in the group. You immediately knew the counterfeit by the way it feels. The thickness, weight, and feel of the paper is different. This is so true in Christ. When we read the word, prayer, and hear proper teaching, that prepares us for the counterfeit. Sometimes I haven't always known exactly in the moment I am in that things were wrong, it was like my spirit or insides or what ever you want to call it told me something wasn't right. Later I would learn why it was wrong. Thank you for showing us the right things and differences so we can be prepared. Blessings in Christ to you both.

I am the same way. There were often times I would say sonething to my husband about an issue and not know why I knew. But I truly believe that was the Holy Spirit prompting me. And eventually coming to find out the "why" and what was wrong. My very first example was The Purpose Driven Life movement. It was being pushed greatly at the church we were at previous to our current church home. I could not put my finger on it but eventually it came to light and out when we were driving home from a home school Family Camp. It was announced on a local christian radio station. And I just said to my husband, "...see I knew something was wrong with that". That was just one of the issues that started us on our journey to look for a new home Church.

I loooooooooove your channel. Constantly learning from you. I left new age and the ever so popular witchy aesthetic lifestyle and God showed you to me and it’s been a blessing. Love that you had this conversation with childers because I’d been wanting to look into her channel as well. Thank you! Oh and your video with clips from elevation. I was a ‘witch, happy pagan’ while I attended that “experience” and I’m so happy that The Holy Spirit led you in that video. It’s heart breaking that I was raised in a church and was not truly saved and understood what I was saved from until this year. My church growing up and elevation were social clubs. At least for me they were. It was about the pastors and not Christ. I love learning apologetics and knowing how to defend my faith and I now know why the Bible is so so soooooo VALID. God bless you woman and keep up this ministry I pray more people come across your testimony and follow Christ.

Melissa, your channel has been the catalyst in God opening my eyes to what is true. My family has very deep roots in the NAR. I praise God that I do not hold those beliefs anymore. However, seeing my whole family so deep into it is really difficult. I am so grateful for your channel, as with Doreen’s, because it helps me feel not so alone in this journey.

I remember seeing multiple Progressive Christians on Tik Tok. I was interested in what they believe, so I digged more. I didn't have dig far to realize that they have a wrong view of the Bible. I stay away from that side of Tik Tok. I'm starting to see it on Instagram, too. I had to unfollow some people. Jesus told us not to conform to the world, but that's exactly what Progressive Christianity does.

Interesting session. I have felt for a few years now that Christians do need to get into their Bibles and when approached by those who want to tell that didn’t happen etc. they have an answer. Watching your videos, I have learned a lot. Last year I got on this video, but don’t remember why, but what I heard put me in shock. There was a church building and the “pastor”. Started speaking. I could not believe what he was saying. First thing is that he thought it was funny that he didn’t have a Bible, then starts about the Bible being written for people in each time in the past, and wasn’t really for today, and just kept on with stuff like that Among other things, why would people leave their homes and go to a church just to hear nothing about it is true. So bizarre. That lady sounded like me when she started talking about researching something. God bless you lady. You present a great ministery.

Martin Kelsey, yes, this nonsensical Gnostic world view that denies the existence of absolute truth. They change the incorruptible God and Creator, Jesus Christ, into the corruptible image of man because they’re not born of the Holy Spirit, and are swept away by vain philosophy and pseudoscience, the very things the written Word of God warns us of.

I was listening to what she was saying about progressive anti-Christianity. "Im still confused as to what point she was trying to make," The point is that progressive Christianity is not Christianity. You were clearly focused on the wrong part of the discussion. You decided you already knew Christian doctrine and didn't have to listen to what false doctrines the regressives err, progressives believed. Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;) And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia: Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. Galatians 1:1-10 Finf yourself another church, my brother in Christ...

Time marker 43:55/51:47 -> Alisa just mentioned reading the Bible end to end. Agreed! The truly hard part is knowing the audience that each Book, Genesis to Revelations was originally written to. Just as challenging is reaching back into the original language each book was written in! An example of "the Greeks had a word for it": Love. The Greeks would have use either eros, philio, or Agape (maybe even a few in between). "Lost in translation" can be a real issue! I understand that Seminary students are required to know Greek. Blessings to those who do! (I have enough trouble with American English vs British English!)

Romans1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

I need a good bible teacher - I just can’t even find someone that is speaking and teaching truth. I believe in the gifts of the spiirt, but there’s so many that use Gods beautiful gifts and take them to another level. It’s crazy. I just want to be a humble servent and help others comes to Christ. But also learn how to break down the bible. 😭🙏🏼

I'm just learning this subject progressive Christianity and somewhat feel very ignorant to this topic..what I know is my entire walk with Jesus has always pushed me to know him and Papa God and Holy Spirit not based on what this preacher said is true or that pastor although I deeply respected their rolls I still needed to know on my own to explore the word and I've been shocked over the many years of how little most people truly want to know, pursue and build their own relationship with Jesus. What I know is if I would of built my faith based only on what the Chruch, pastor, teacher, leadership had to say I would of left the Chruch years ago because of some treatments, judgements and teachings that have come across my way. My own children have abandoned their faith because of this which utterly breaks my heart.. But this is what I know this relationship between our creator and us is this....you don't have a relationship with your spouse based on another's view of them..you take the time to know this person by investing your time and attention directly on that person and the more time you invest in this the deeper you grow in knowing them right?! The same is true with your relationship with Jesus..if you don't pursue to know him you indeed will not know him you'll only know about him two very different situations.. Jesus dose not make himself a secret that only a few elect can know and my friend I challenge you to consider what you believe is it based on what another has told you or do you truly want to know him? There's no limit to how deep you can know him but you must pursue the relationship as you would any human relationship.. Jesus is the most kindest person I've ever known and he wants you to pursue him like he pursues you it's seriously intimate and there truly is no greater relationship known to man kind..so I say if this isn't true for you perhaps it's time to really invest I getting to know him..you'll never regret that and it will cause you to go deeper and know him more.. God's richest blessings fall on all y'all that truly want to know him

Don't know if you'll read this, but PROGRESSIVE CHRISTIANITY, the way Alisa Childers describes it, reminds me of a scene in the movie, "Yentyl" when Anschel is being tested by the Rabbi to get accepted into seminary. He/She's acceptes because of his/her questions, not answers.

These video teaching videos are always like water for my soul. I get so much out of them. However, and I know this is not the fault of you melissa, but the ads are so many! It's so frustrating..I'm trying to listen while I work. And I constantly have to pull my phone out to skip an ad. It feels like seconds between them. It wont stop me from watching. But it is frustrating. I do wish these were available on spotify

Hi! I assure you I did not set up all those ads. In fact, I didn't even realize they were there until a commenter said something. I would never place that many ads in any of my videos. KZbin automatically places ads. They have changed the way they do this, and it's been a problem for me that I posted about about a month or so ago. I have to manually undo this every time I do a video. It must not have saved before I published. Every video I make doesn't follow this pattern, so I'm glad someone noticed and kindly said something as they know that's out of character for me and not something I would ever abuse. I changed it immediately as soon as it was brought to my attention.

@@MelissaDougherty I know for certain it wasnt you who was responsible. I am sorry I spoke out of my frustration. That's not something I typically do. But I didnt mean to make you feel like I was putting you or your video under attack. I hope I didnt do that. I honestly love what you do for us.

The amazing thing is that if you are in the Word and have a strong foundation ... you will know the truth. When a movement starts you will be able to discern if its from God or man. Instead of running to the internet or to people you approach God or the Holy Spirit. Western christians are the most untaught yet spiritually proud.

I'm so glad there was a rundown of authors to "watch out for" or "be wary of"... Ever since I realized I was being seduced by Progressive Christianity (via KZbinr God is Grey aka Brenda Davies) I have been super hesitant to seek out books to read. I don't trust myself enough to not be led astray again. The things Brenda said in her videos & podcast, how it made me feel to hear "it isn't my sin that separates me from God but a preoccupation with my sin ie my shame & guilt", & to hear her conversation with Pete Enns on the reliability & infallibility of the Bible... I wasn't fully deconstructed by any means but I was curious. Thankfully, I had the mind to send videos to a friend and ask what she thought & she didn't agree so it gave me pause. But, even then it took Brenda's treatment of me in response to IG comments for me to become hesitant of her. On this post she was spouting a lot of critical theory/intersectionality terms & while I wasn't as informed on CRT as I am now it was enough to unfollow her & return any audible books recommended by her. Ever since I've found you, Alyssa, Mike Winger, etc & no longer feel the need to deconstruct. But I also question who to trust a lot.

Alisa Childers, way to go Fellow Follower Of Jesus! Jesus said "not my will BUT thine". Jesus was crucified and died, the Temple Curtain, put there to separate the Most Holy Place from from all others, tore from top to bottom! Even the Roman Centurion standing at the Cross said "this man is the Son of God!". The Holiest day of the Liturgical Year: EASTER! The Resurrection.

Excellent video and input from both these ladies. I have wondered for a while now why it is so important for these progressives to still want to be called "Christian" when they deny so much of the essential Christian doctrines. Why not think of a new name? Why is being called "Christian" so vital to them?
