I have joined a prayer group where we smudge. I absolutely love the aroma of sage and I feel more grounded after.

Thanks for that. Smudging is definitely a very big part of my healing process, and setting good intentions for this red road. I find it to be a very powerful thing, and just recently used to it to clear out some very bad energy in my parents house, and as soon as I was done, you could feel the whole mood had changed to a bright light.

I think smudging would be right for me to clear my (and my husband's) thoughts and help me to stay focused. Also, we have had a lot of losses the last few years and I think it would help to free some of the anxiety and stresses from ourselves and our house.

Thank you so much for all these clarifications. I’ve been told so much things about the cultural appropriation on the action or even the right word to use (smudge or cleanse). I am not doing it in a traditional way, but always in a total respect. I use cedar because it’s local in my area and it grows in my backyard, as well as juniper and they have a good cleansing property.

Hi Karine, You're very welcome! As long as you are respectful and have the right intentions you are doing it right! Cedar is great especially when it is from your own yard.

So I collected a bunch of branches that came down during a storm last winter and made them into bundles to burn for myself as well as to give them as gifts to family and friends that I feel need some kind of comfort. I used balsam and cedar as that is what I had. I am not first nations. I am thankful for the video as I was wondering if this is something that I should not be doing. Thank you for posting the video. We used it regularly after my son passed. Thanks again for the video

Hi Michele! Thank you for sharing with us. Making the most out of what you have, and giving gifts is a great use of your fallen branches. Especially if it brings you comfort! We are so glad you enjoyed the video

I am a yoga teacher and when I did a YogaRythmics teacher training my instructor pulled sage from my backyard for our graduation ceremony. I had grown a lot in my flower bed and I was happy my trainer used it. I want to start growing it again to clear my mind now that I reached menopause so I feel that my estrogen is missing and I am feeling emotional

Thank You for this Video, Mallory! Yes, I think Smudging is right for me to gain clarity and stability, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I love the smell of Sage and it feels very beneficial for my respiratory system to heal from allergic Asthma. Whenever I use it, I feel the purification and balance that it brings immediately.🙏🏽💕💫

@MalloryRoseCo2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jacquline! You don't have to open the door or window while you are smudging. Everyone has a personal preference in the way they choose to smudge. Whatever works for you! :)

I am from a tribe that does not have federal recognition so we don’t have a lot of groups/programs/ways for everyone to stay well-practiced in our culture. In addition to that, I am the second generation of my direct family to grow up out of state, away from the culture and verbal teachings my people ARE well-practiced in. My family try to keep as much in touch with our culture as we can, I’m 24 and we go back for homecoming summer pow wow every year. But I’ve just purchased my first home with my partner, we lost my dad last year who was white but adored my mom and our culture. My boyfriend loved my dad and wants to be just as supportive to me as my dad always was about my mom (who is full native and from a very large family). All of that to say he and I want to smudge our new home once we’ve finished painting this week. Actual reasons for cleansing include removing whatever previous owners left, bringing in a new harmony to our relationship, setting a peaceful tone for the energy in our new home.

I hear smudging can do away with bad energy and curses and cleanse the space around me; therefore, I want to learn how to smudge.
