I imagine it is very inappropriate to improv a little when slating. Sometimes I get the urge to _clarify,_ my name. Richard Warner might say it's my _wit_ creeping out, but I imagine a slate starting like this. _Oz Dillon. No, not the Wizard of, and not related to Matt..._ Is something like that a _big no-no,_ in slating?

I hate slating... it completely breaks my focus and takes me out of character, half the time I forget the name of the character or the piece if its a monologue and to then immediately do a 180 and jump back into character just makes me trip and I spend the whole audition trying to get back where I was when I walked in the door. The whole thing just seems unnecessary and redundant (especially since I am auditioning for the same handful of CD's all the time and they should know who I am)
