As an entj, i dont believe our greed for return is our biggest vice. I think that is our defense to our biggest vice. I truly believe our biggest vice genuine emotional connection. Most entjs are taken advantage of, which develops the return on investment defense to protect our fragile Fi

Often times, when a black business owner whom DJT had given a loan to came back with the $$ he had agreed to pay him, DJT would ask him how the business was going? Upon hearing that his investment was well recieved and the business was doing well, he would tear up the check andvtell them to keep up the good work... You won't hear anything about this side of Donald Trump. And yes, I say, "Black Business owners" because in the 60's and 70's commercial banks would refuse loans to African American business owners...but you won't hear this on the MSM will you. Do the research.

This explains what just happened yesterday. I just got mad at people for not replied my text asap at the moment when I truly needed it. And at people who don't value the generosity that I have given to them. They seek help at me a lot of times, but when I was the one asked them things (the smallest thing, just a simple question), they didn't do the same thing like what I did for them. I felt like I was being used and betrayed. This video helps me understand how my personality works. Awesome work, dude.

If you are writing a book, I would love lists of condensed info. Example: 10 things ENTJ's can do to improve their lives. Or How ENTJ's can improve their relationships. Short actionable advice. Not to say the longer stuff isn't good, sometimes you don't have the time to dig deep and just want something to implement now.

Justin Miller I’ll take your suggestion on the book under advisement. As for providing a more direct solution that can cut short the time required to learn and absorb, that will come after I have laid the foundation of all the material and for now we have to suffer with the lengthy material. But once traction is acquired, I will focus on the bullet points through other materials.

Great topic. On loyalty: Loyalty is one of the virtues that emanate from efficient leadership. This loyalty is never something to be forced upon someone, at least in the beginning. What is forced and brought forth for those who betray a purpose is the golden Accountability. When someone is aligned with the vision of the leader, they follow him to exact that vision and see it come to life. Once we are in the battlefield, all of us are to play our roles as assigned. If one is to betray that purpose they will be held accountable. As an ENTJ, what I despise the most is indecisiveness. On Altruism/Greed: One of the things that I also abhor is being manipulated by insidious schemes. I value integrity, and I would never make covert contracts in the fashion you're expressing. The only thing that is close to a covert contract I would make is :"I will do this, you do this and this". Even that is a simple agreement. When I give, I do that without asking anything in return. You highlighted a difference between someone asking me for money, and me offering them money. When someone asks me for money, it is up to me to refuse or accept. If I refuse, that's self-explanatory. If I accept and there are any conditions I should bring forth, I do so from the beginning. After all, I did it out of my own will. I despise exploiting people in need. That's a weakness. Then again, each one of us is different. Keep up the good work.
@arcadianfox8127
@arcadianfox8127 3 жыл бұрын
As an INTJ, I have to admit I have a similar issue with this covert contract. I like to give and help people, but when nothing comes back it eventually becomes an issue of "what is the point in keeping this relationship going?". It's not a trade either, we simply do things because we feel good doing things. We expect other people not to do things in return, but to do things for us because they themselves sincerely want to do it. What is done or why it is done holds no relationship, they are separate. Who does more is not important, but the nature of the intent matters.

You just described my father to a tee. He’s a retired and wealthy veterinarian. Smart as a whip and protective of his money. He can be very generous if it’s on his terms. As a father, he was authoritative, emotionally cruel and abusive at times, ultimately leaving me with rejection and abandonment issues. I’m an ENFJ, so his personality type was very destructive for me growing up. As adults, we’ve actually developed respect for one another and enjoy friendly debates. I don’t like thinking this, but I do still wonder if his love is conditional? Either way, I love him very much.

truepeace3 I can’t speak for any one else, but for myself as an ENTJ, I have trouble showing love, to the point where some don’t think I even feel it. And that’s not true. I am just willing to make the decisions that will emotionally hurt myself/loved ones if I am absolutely positive that it will help. It’s not that I don’t feel emotion, it’s that I am obligated to move forward with the right choice even if it causes pain. I’ll do anything that helps my loved ones, even if it causes them to dislike me.

My dad is an ENTJ and is definitely the most generous person I know. I think that the reason ENTJs are the most financially wealthy (typically) of all the types is that they responsibly know what they want with their Ni parent, and then they can aspire with their Fi inferior to decide, "This is what I responsibly want, and that is the MOST valuable thing to me." They are by default rational, so they will eliminate anything that takes away time from what they want to achieve, since they know what is important to them. If an ENTJ makes a plan for someone else, the other person should understand what the ENTJ wants (Ne), and how valuable it is to the ENTJ (Fe), and so dutifully (Si) follow the ENTJ's directions. I've experienced this first hand; they will not tolerate it if they make a plan and other people decide that it's not important, because the ENTJ doesn't care about what other people think is important (Fe demon).

Fascinating. One time I had a conversation with my grandma about my boyfriend, who's an ENTJ. She told me she finds him to be a great guy and she likes him but was worried about one thing... Whether he isn't greedy. It surprised me and I asked her why she thought so. That's kinda funny but she told me she had that suspicion based on how nicely he dressed and how clean his car was, not based on anything he had ever said. I was thinking about that and realized that my boyfriend is a lot like my grandpa who I believe might have been an ENTJ too and was very strict when it came to finances. My grandma must have noticed some familiarity. I wouldn't call my boyfriend greedy but there's something to it that ENTJs can be very generous and yet appear so petty sometimes when it comes to their resources, I don't mean just money. It's something very specific to this type.

With stats like almost 50% of marriages ending up in divorce and 70-80% of the divorces are initiated by women and if you lived together for longer than 2 years you are effectively married (defacto), how the fk are you not scared of your future???

Funny thing, as an ENTJ, I hung on to a difficult relationship for 3 years because of how much I invested in time, emotion and finances. It started off online and so I fit in time slots to spend time with them but..it wasn't respected much which led to some friction. I know the world doesn't work that way to get some kind of outcome as little is in our control, but I enjoyed making my ex's world light up so much even though I didn't get anywhere close to a fair return. It did affect my own perception on whether I was good enough to be with them. Well made video.

I'm an ENTJ and I have been called greedy my whole life, since I was a kid. Don't even remember how that happened or how I got that reputation. When I got older I used it to my advantage to hold other people accountable when I gave them money and mostly people don't even ask me for money anymore which I am fine with. The funny thing is that I never considered myself a greedy person, I always felt that when I was generous it went unnoticed. It's amazing how accurate this video is, I really should watch how I interact with people on this altruism and avarice vice. I started off when I was younger with being very generous. I remember people telling who contrary my attitude towards people was with how much I actually did for people or gave to people. I got taken advantage of that. I started viewing all relationships as an investment with a contract. Sometimes covert sometimes overt. Some people did not like this, and I didn't exactly get the the "greedy" nickname, but the "cold, harsh and inhumane" one. People don't value free things I came to understand. In a friendship I was paying for everything but I defenitely do expect entertainment and loyalty in return. I work I used to give people second chances and they were not grateful for that. I started firing them with no guilt. I can't stand people who don't like win win agreements and don't appreciate things that are given. How do you show your appreciation? Well use your imagination or ask me how. Greedy seems to me like the wrong word. But I see defenitely what you are trying to say here. I got called greedy because of other things like wanting money and such.

It might be true that I can be expecting something in return when I invest in people, to some extent. But nowadays I tried to be more generous by expecting less when giving something to people, because when you don't receive back after investing in people, it's disappointing. I try to manage my expectations. When I give something, I made sure I am not expecting the same thing back. If I look back, I think I had a lot of people in my life who don't expect something in return when they were being generous to me. But when someone gave me something, I made sure I'll give them back.

It’s not greed. And if people don’t want to help me when I need help (if it really isn’t too much to ask) then them not helping me is a sign they’re not worthy of any more attention, and they’ve wasted my time (or I’ve wasted my time) since they clearly don’t care as much about me as I do about them. My Bf is an INFJ and I'm an ENTJ, but we are both rather mature and it's easier to relate when the ENTJ has worked on their Fi. It's really hard for an ENTJ with a underdeveloped Fi to express how they feel to others. At least for me I had no idea what I was feeling. I just knew I was. Sometimes the emotions would all come at once and be jumbled. It took me a long time to actually identify my emotions and why I was feeling them. I guess I'm saying, if your brother hasn't developed his Fi yet don't ask him how he feels. He doesn't know. Use your Ti child to make logical discussions. Relate with the Ni. Generally I'm very aware of other peoples tone of voice and sometimes I say something, but the tone is wrong. You being an Fe parent you'll want to understand his emotions. Best thing to do is use the Ni and Ti to help get through to him. I know this is 3 years late,but I hope he has worked on his Fi. It'll make it a LOT easier to communicate. My bf asks me how I am all the time. I tell him idk. Give me a moment and I'll tell you. I have to really take time to evaluate what I'm feeling and why. I'm grateful for my bf's ability to help me process emotions and I love that he is a very honest and caring person. The enneagram type can have a lot to do with your brothers attitude as well. It'll help you understand what your brother and mom are avoiding.

I've found that most people I know are undeserving of my generosity and are not worth making deals with. If I help without asking for anything in return, I don't expect anything other than a bit of cred. I helped you with this little thing, you help me with this minor thing. Or I kept my mouth shut, you do the same, etc. But so many times I've made it very clear, "hey, I'll do this/give you this/help with this, but you have to do/give this" And I'll do my end of the deal and they end up screwin me over and not doing their end of the bargain. If the deal involved money I make sure I get my money back, one way or another. But when it comes to stuff like they were supposed to do something with me, or help with something, it's not like I can force them to do it, they got to be willing on at least some level, other wise it isn't worth the effort. My sisters in particular are notorious for this, making deals with me and then not fulfilling their end. They legit refer to me as the Davy Jones of the family... All I want, is for your words to mean more than shit. Is that too much to ask? I know personally for me, when I make a deal/promise it's solid. I don't make promises easily, nor do I guarantee anything unless I have to or make deals without thinking through what I'm being asked to do in return. Sure, lot of people hate me for it cause it can make me seem quite unreliable because I always leave a back door. But in my eyes, I'm the ONLY reliable person cause I'm the one who follows through every time I make a promise/deal, whereas they make promises they can't/won't keep, and say things they can't/won't follow through on.

You've talked before about ENTJ being the ideal social match for INTP. I'm wondering though, if ENTJs have a tendency towards using people as investments and demanding their return, while INTPs seriously struggle with doormat syndrome (as INTP, can confirm), what about this relationship makes it work out? The ENTJ seeking loyalty and INTP giving loyalty makes tons of sense. But what's to stop the ENTJ from abusing the INTP in this way? Is there a necessary approach? Or maybe it's a non-issue, since the INTP *wants* to give unwavering loyalty, and *wants* to be given to (ENTJ altruism) and *wants* to reciprocates (satisfying/avoiding ENTJ avarice)? As an INTP, personally, I have absurd amounts of loyalty for the few that I value. There's little I want as much as for that loyalty to be recognized, appreciated, and reciprocated. Interacting with someone who is, in a sense, insecure about loyalty, and being able to prove them wrong, is incredibly satisfying and fulfilling. But anyways... How does this relationship avoid "abuse" and come out so strongly?
@CSJoseph
@CSJoseph 6 жыл бұрын
Because of the presence of Fi child, the INTP Fe inferior can adjust or manipulate the feelings of the ENTJ which disengages the ENTJ's avarice and keeps them in their altruistic side. Ti hero also criticizes them well enough and Te hero takes that criticism and immediately implements changed behavior. Or I should I just say, communication is key while not being afraid to offer criticism when it is due.

I know this is an old comment but if anybody see's this in the future... This comment is somewhat flawed. You shouldn't take advantage of ENTJ's altruism sure... but at the same time you should. The best thing you can do for ENTJ's is to ask them for help, and show appreciation. Otherwise ENTJ's get themselves in trouble by giving help that is not wanted. There's nothing more damaging than to "give of themselves" and be told to fuck off because their help is actually just a hindrance. (and the sad thing for ENTJ's is that for every person who does say this, there's 9 more who felt that way and said nothing and just ghosted them. This is a huge problem for ENTJ's and get's worse with age.)

As an ISTP, I relate to this (not the greed part). I normally do not like it when people ask for favors or gifts because it makes me feel obligated. I love giving, but usually only when nobody asks for it. An ISFJ man that I used to be interested in, I offered him a massage and he was happy to accept it. After that, he was too busy to make time for me, then a couple months later he asks for another massage because his back hurts. I do not like being used, so I told him I’ll trade him massage for massage. He flaked. I no longer have respect for him. I do not feel respected by him. I put him in the “F boy” zone.

I have recently discovered that I am an ENTJ, just getting the hang of the 16 Personalities. In this video, I find that the choice of words (Altruism vs Avarice) is driven more by poetic license (A needs to match with A) than a stab at accuracy. Why is the search for a Return on Investment so avaricious? Why is it not simply rational? Exactly when would you call this search, greedy?! Where’s the line between sensible evaluation of one’s behaviour, and greedy expectations that are most likely to be belied?! Especially when, as I look back at my life, I find that my efforts have rarely been rewarded…so like any investor, I should make the wins pay for the losses. So maximise your wins & limit your losses…that’s rationality, not avarice. 🙏

Aren't you holding people you haven't tried to standards influenced by those who have failed you? One could argue that it's not a fair approach, why bother investing in people if you're not going to give them a fair shot at succeeding with you. Treating people like people instead of numbers isn't an admonition, it's advice that will benefit you.

Think it depends on the relation terms If its a friendship that legit then will do anything but if the other person starts having greed or other motives then the terms change everything about the relationship. Maybe others call it heart but if someone wants to get or break trust then it changes everything. Amd no more generousity in a relation or if’s not friendship type relation anymore. It changes the dynamic of everything and redefines.

I'm an ENTJ. I don't think greed is the vice, (then again I will admit, my experience is more neuroscience than psychology). I'll use my wealth to provide better experiences usually. I spend money on nicer things, so that I can be a better host, or because I wanted to buy the best possible thing(what else is worth buying)? If not now, down the road(like already planning inheritance structure). Yes, sometimes I think: "if no one appreciates it, what's the point? Why don't I MAKE them appreciate it by dominating the whole structure, and forcing them into submission?". Usually that is just a smal emotional spike, and implementing it is so uncomfortable it doesn't stay in my attention long. I think developmentally, the generous nature was taken advantage of, and the coping mechanism was to develop more intelligence to protect the sensitive emotional nature. And the weaponization of this defense mechanism becomes this intellectual public flogging. Example, ESTP construction managers don't deliver on deliverables unless it's an emergency. I have the paper trail showing My vice is more CRUSHING someone publicly and intellectually into dust. Pretty much always in response, and in as public a situation as I can manage. In my more immature days when I was testing my dagger-tongue, I'd cruelly experiment with what I could do. Currently, it's saved for those who attempt to be emotionally manipulative. I think that is largely reflected in compatibility charts. If someone wants to make personal/emotional insults/manipulations, I will rarely hesitate to absolutely intellectually destroy someone's whole understanding about themselves and others. Especially if it's in a group setting. Because I care about what others think, emotional attacks are "hitting below the belt" in my mind, and merits a very well thought-out, destructive, nuclear option. Usually character attacks, with lots of personal evidence, and science. My understanding is that, because I have REALLY filled up my introverted intuition (research papers, etc.) I basically have an enormous weaponizable cache at my disposal. Dead on about covert contracts. Took years to figure out that reciprocity the majority of the time needs to be explicit. Your channel actually taught me the term!

I truly dislike being compared to Trump as an entj, but nevertheless, you have to make a comparison. In regards to your point to gifting capital: the more is see those with monies to bestow, I’ve witnessed an occasional emotional side to some extent when it’s being gifted to a truly redeeming person or situation. Is this true in an entj? Or can it, I’m saying in a particular situation? I myself, know of my humane side, but do not show it easily. We’re all human and show different sides and different times. I witnessed these circumstances mostly while watching Undercover Boss and Shark Tank. Also... forgetfulness...ha!:)

I am a female ENTJ (if you feel I've mistyped give me your opinion). I gained respect for you because of a previous video you posted where you passionately defended the ENTJ as misunderstood. I appreciated it because my ass-hattedness does come from me disregarding the few to care for the health of the majority. Admittedly, sometimes I disregard an opinion because I just downright think the person's wrong, but I've learned to let even that slide unless I think the opinion is hurting someone's accurate worldview. Then you turn around and because Trump by your definition (and admittedly in mine as well) is an ENTJ all of a sudden I feel really attacked. What happened to your understanding of disregarding a few for the good of the majority? Isn't this the same type you were defending before? Or did you get your political bias in the way? I will be treading carefully on your channel now.

I completely agree with the original poster. I believe C. S. Lewis dated an Entj and did put much into the relationship and when he got called on it and she left came up with this explanation because he was hurt and still does not understand what happened. I have a feeling he didn't not put nearly as much into the relationship or doesn't realize he wasn't and was very hurt when it all ended. For me as an Entj, people take advantage of the time and help I give them, but when I and other Entj I know need a little help people don't return the favor. I personally think Entj's help too much and get taken advantage a lot, and eventually learn that this happens and protect themselves and their hearts. I started watching this because my Istp, and Enfj friends were watching this and were yelling at the screen about how much bullshit this is.

When a mother(lessor) tells a sick child(lessee) "I'm never taking you to the playground ever again if you don't take this medicine"; its not manipulation, it's love. You have many times stated and noted, including in this video, how you benefitted from the Aultruistic behavior of the ENTJS. (High functionimg, awakened ones).
