There is a widespread misunderstanding among the church about justification and sanctification. We are justified by faith. We are sanctified by obedience - obedience to His commandments. You cannot lose your justification. It is the gift of God.

I have a friend at work who is constantly telling me that not following the law of Moses is not being in full obedience to God. He claims the main reason is that Jesus said ‘follow me’ and obeyed the mosaic laws. I’m over trying to argue, all I can do is pray for him.

I hope it’s not too late, but ask this person where in their life are they struggling with the flesh. Read for yourself Colossians 2 & 3 and place emphasis on 2:23 and 3:5-11. I don’t know how close you are to this individual but if we confess our sins (of the flesh) to one another we shall be healed. Repentance of the heart (Colossians 3:1-17), not observance of the laws (especially matters of food) will set you free. And if the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed (John 8:34).

I appreciate this conversation, biblical views and gentle explinations. I can only speak from experience, that there is a richness in observing the Lord's Holy Days. I would never tell another believer they have to, and we are to pursue peace with one another as much as possible. But I can not deny the blessing of setting aside mainstream Christian ideas to walk in more solid biblical observances. There is a line that can be easily crossed, which causes pride and division. But for those walking humbly with the Lord, He has something beautiful for those willing to step out into the pasture. Willing to question, 'Why do you do what you do?" And willing to 'leave Egypt', in a sense. There is freedom from bondage, a deeper side of connection between Jesus and the OT to be found. One must walk by faith, and follow the Shephard. If done correctly, there is nothing to be afraid of. Sadly, many have crossed that line and there lies the bad fruit, false theology and spiritual deception.

Christina Dufek I hear you…but let’s look at the logic behind your comment “out of Egypt”.(if I may challenge your belief gently for a moment in love) Read Hebrews 3 and 4 line by line. Read each sentence carefully and slowly. See God was angry with rebellious hard hearts…the people had been taken out of Egypt as you stated but could you unfortunately be falling into the same trap? Do you not see what God is saying here in both Hebrews 3 and 4? “Today if you will hear His voice do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion”… “Indeed was it not ALL WHO CAME OUT OF EGYPT led by Moses”? “So we see that they could not enter in because of UNBELIEF”. Do you not understand that Jesus Christ is Who you must focus on? You have rest in Christ Jesus 24/7 that is what you are reading…. There is a passage in Gods Word that speaks of a veil being over the eyes of the followers of Moses to this day… Challenge yourself and find out where that passage is. God Bless you Sister. Otherwise the veil of unbelief still holds true. To leave Egypt is to walk away and be set free from man made traditions, and allow the Lord Jesus Himself to reveal how all of scripture points to Him. We get to partake in the Holy Days that the Father established with that very veil of unbelief lifted. It is pure and joyous.

@@christinadufek9308 my family is trying to get away from these traditions we hold today, the bible is very clear that God despises the pagan holidays, idk once Yeshua found me I have wanted to do nothing except please my father, just as my Jewish Messiah and Savior Yeshua did. I see our holidays differently now, i think I see a lot of things differently now.. I do wonder why people think everything from the Torah is practically obsolete. Yeah, Yeshua said in Matthew 5 that he came to fulfill the law, not to abolish it. But, our God is still the same, the Torah breaks down a moral code that does great things when applied to your daily life. We may not be under the law but there is still so many blessings within its words.

Rob, I greatly appreciate your ministry! It has helped me so much to understand the (almost) overwhelming frustration of dealing with these issues. Your friend from Spain in the interview took the boggle right out of my own mind also when he talked about how they take things out of context like pouring water out of a glass (my own rendition) and HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH IT?? Our friends of over 20 years went all in on Hebrew roots and now we're sinners and lawbreakers. We used to fellowship and pray together. I only started understanding the jargon and the "Well, if Jesus said it then we should do it...) mantra, after coming upon the movement by wordsearching "Hebrew" after he was insisting we couldn't know the truth unless we knew the original languages. He still insists that he found this all out on his own by digging in and studying over a 20 year period. Of course, the commentary he wrote out when I told him I wanted to see his studies was in every aspect COOKIE CUTTER (in laymans terms) to what the mainline teachers of the movement put out. I will go as far as labeling it (at least) cult-ish. Or, maybe that's a label I'm hanging on them because they've split up a long standing relationship/fellowship and I'm upset...and not just a little bit, to put it nicely. At least now, after tons of research, I have an understanding and a peace about not being able to communicate any truth into the situation. It's still frustrating, but now I know why. I wrote a (somewhat scathing) rebuke to the points he wrote in his statement but decided not to give it to him because I know now he is not open to an honest, factual critique. I would call it programmed.What I will do is start sending him teaching after teaching from others, like yourself. He might be open to challenges from other than myself. Again, I'm grateful to you for taking on the work of such a needed ministry. And there are many others who have taken up the battle also. God bless you.

@@richardstark1977 those that belong to Him, have belonged to Him before the foundation of the world. So, indeed we start and finish in the spirit. Perhaps the law was a physical subconscious reminder of where we come from and where we are headed back to.

The law goes back to the garden of Eden, the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The 10 commandments, written on stone, are actually called the "ministry of condemnation and death" (see 2 Corinthians 3:7-9). Adam had only one law and failed, but "by the obedience of ONE, the many were made righteous." (see Romans 5:19). Our life, in the new covenant, is not secured by our obedience, like Adam, but by the Obedience of ONE, Jesus. We have a better covenant based on better promises. So, I respectfully disagree, we did not start at the foundation of the world, every believer's beginning, was at the cross, when Jesus said "It is Finished." The only race we run where we start at the "Finished Line." That is the start that Paul is referring to when he asked the Galatians, "who bewitched you?" "Having begun in the Spirit (faith), you are now being perfected by the flesh?" Clearly, our lives began when we confessed with our mouth Jesus is Lord and believed in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead. Yes, God's plan for redemption is from the foundation of the world, but if we could be perfected by law, then why would Jesus have to suffer the cross?

So all those who belong to God got there "start" by faith in the Finished Work of Jesus, not by the law of Moses.

Thank you, MC! I believe The Ten reflect God's perfect, eternal principles as expressed to the nation of Israel before Christ. They are part of our Bible and therefore "breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness" (2 Tim 3:16). That said, Christians today under Christ and New Covenant are not under The Ten _as they were given in the legal sense_ through Moses. However, they still very much apply to us in spirit. For example, hidden in the prohibition against "images of God" (Ex 20:4) is the promise of God giving us His image in His Son, who "is the image of the invisible God" (Col 1:15). To see him is to see the Father (John 14:9). And yet, we are still to avoid idolatry (1 Cor 10:1-22). Likewise, we are not under the Mosaic legal regulations for Shabbat (Col 2:16-17), but we still have a Sabbath in Christ (See my video *Is Jesus our Sabbath?* kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5TOq4yer55sl5Y). And it is wise for us to take one day every week to rest in God and acknowledge Him as our Lord and provider. My understanding of the OT law is that EVERYTHING stated in the Exodus to Numbers IS the law. Not just the 10 Commandments. What we carry forward in our Christian walk are the moral laws that God wrote in EVERYONE's hearts. See Romans 2:14-15. In my opinion, if Sabbath keeping is a requirement, then all the other laws should be kept. (I'm obviously excluding sacrificial laws from this conversation). The Israelites had to obey the whole law- not just the 10 Commandments. The rest of the law wasn't just made up by Moses. It was God's word.

I know this is kind of older but I'm really hoping to get some guidance here… I have been a Christian out of Mormonism now for about a decade and it's wonderful to be outside of the legalistic structure and live in our Savior by faith alone! I had never heard of Hebrew roots until just a few weeks ago when a gentleman instigated a debate with me on a comment that I left on another KZbin channel. Since investigating, there are actually many Hebrew roots that I don't mind so much since they also believe in salvation through faith alone and in their estimation, faith leads them to observe the Torah. That's wonderful for them! I am not an Israelite and I am a Gentile believer. Historically, the Gentiles have never observed Torah but specifically the Levitical feasts, kosher eating and such. This gentleman is on the other side of the spectrum where he is telling me that I must observe these things to be saved and it doesn't matter how much Scripture I use, he isolates versus pertaining to the obedience of someone in grace. I want to defend the faith but I also want to heed Proverbs and not be drawn in to the simple shouting's of the foolish arguments of fools. I'm struggling to find the line. It's been weeks now trying to defend the faith in the face of his stubbornness and I'm exhausted. I have a pretty decent biblical understanding (we could all learn more) and a good historical/apologetics understanding but this guy can gaslight like no one I've ever met. is debating this man doing more harm than good? Should I continue to defend the faith as well as the assurance of my salvation? I would certainly love your opinion as well as the opinions of other Christians here. God bless!

Jordan, I hope you’ll hook in to theBibleProject. As an ex Mormon Christian whose family has gone Torah, their podcasts have been extremely helpful to me. I also recommend Tim Mackie’s videos (for example his Matthew series) on you tube. He just teaches how the Bible is a “unified story that leads to Jesus” without trying to entangle with any particular cult or religion. I can’t recommend it more highly to you. Grace and peace!

I too am dealing with a Torahite. They have a lot of hatred, contempt and disdain for non-Torahite Christians. We do not love God because we do not love ALL of his laws. We are stubborn and rebellious. We are lawless. We are children of Satan because in rejecting Torah practice we are 'doing whatsoever thou wilt,' a Satanic motto. If we choose Sunday as our day of rest that is Rebellion. All that these people do is judge and condemn. They are evil minded with no love at all in them.

@@colingr318 yeah, it gets rough! I eventually was able to silence him by holding him to his own standard. I noticed that he had a trimmed beard which is against Levitical law. I noticed that he didn't wear the tasseled apron which is also against Levitical law. He had a Walmart shirt which is mixed linens. I really just reinforced that he was not keeping the old law and was therefore under its curse.

We don’t keep the law perfectly nor for salvation that is why Jesus died on the cross for our sins. But just like a wife may take back her repentant husband for being unfaithful, he does not continue being unfaithful. He tries to be a better husband. @@D12Min Jesus said He did not come to do away with the law but to fulfill it. Anyone who teaches someone to ignore even the least of the law will be least in the kingdom of God. In light of that- words from the mouth of Jesus, I read the passages you mentioned to mean that things like circumcision and eating pork are not the means of salvation and the people Paul was writing to were making that mistake. I DON’T tell anyone they should follow these laws and they are sinning if they don’t. I only share my desire to try to follow all the wisdom God has shared with us to the best of my ability for I believe His ways are good and right and true. I believe He gave us the laws for our benefit and blessing. I also believe and have experienced the curse of not living according to His word. I KNOW His word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. The only people I think HAVE TO follow these laws are the people who want to follow them. Though I think everyone would benefit from following them. For example, would everyone benefit from reminding themselves that they should love the Lord their God with everything they’ve got in the morning and in the evening? Yes! That is a command in Leviticus and Deuteronomy. And I greatly benefit from doing that each day. I resolve each morning to do my best with Yahweh’s help and I reflect in the evening on how I did. And if I didn’t do it each day, I would miss out on the blessing that comes when I remember and make choices in light of the Shema. And that’s just one example. How much blessing and goodness we and the people around us miss out on when we don’t live according to His word! There is a big difference between HAVE TO and GET TO. The way its looked at is, these are the laws God put on mankind and we are to follow them. Where as before Christ, to fall short was dangerous to ones salvation, now we are covered by the blood of Christ. So we ask for forgiveness for where we fall short. Our son has become active in the Hebrew Roots Movement. My first thought was as long as he has given his life to Christ and lives a Godly life, fine. My concern is he seems rather legalistic. Funny part is he hopes some day I will see the light. I try not to be judgemental and just pray he grows out or beyond this to be closer to God one way or another and freed in Christ. I like to make the point of differentiating between keeping the Torah and keeping the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments are summed up as loving God and loving our neighbor. In John 14 and 15 we read, “If you love Me then keep My Commandments.” He doesn’t say if you love Me keep the Torah. The Ten Commandments are written on Stone by God Himself. The Torah was written on paper by man via God.

I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this, Leona. That divisive spirit is, to me, a telltale sign that God is not in the HRM movement. It's okay if someone doesn't want to celebrate Christmas for personal reasons. There is no Scriptural mandate that we do so. But, to make Christmas (or any other secondary issue) a matter of division within the body of Christ, especially among family, does not honor God. The HRM seems to have forgotten Paul's admonition to "Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all." (Rom 12:16-18)

@@TheBiblicalRoots thank you. And yes. Definitely not just not wishing to celebrate Christmas or Easter. It’s also not seeing any commonality in our spiritual fellowship. Except to try to draw us under Torah . Our Christian faith is definitely wrong and beneath the views of the HRM movement. It’s not a matter of “you can follow”, but it’s a matter of “you must follow” or you are disobedient to the Word. I have to admit at first I did not believe that there was any reason for following any of the Torah, but, I have softened my viewpoint, and come to see that it’s OK if you want to. I have extended that viewpoint to my family members, however this change has not been received. It is still held that you must follow. Having been raised in a traditional religion, and then been born again, I very much understand the ripping of the veil. There is no way I will can chose to come back under rules and regulations. Therein lies the division.

This is an interesting take concerning Bible interpretation; it is unfortunate that most of Christendom today follow the “replacement theology” style as you appear to do, this rings alarm bells in itself. May I humbly remind you of the warning that James gave concerning those that would set themselves up as teachers… Jas 3:1 (ESV) “Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.” As I watched your piece I noted many things that you spoke were indeed correct concerning Jesus Christ being our King and High Priest. Moses prophesied the coming of the Messiah. Deu 18:18-19 (KJV) “I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. (19) And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken [H8085 shema. (Hear and obey)] unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.” With this in mind let us now turn to the words that Jesus spoke as recorded for us… Mathew 5:17-20 (KJV) “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil*. (18) For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. I find that the reconciliation between your teaching here and the words the Jesus spoke in the above scripture impossible to correlate, furthermore, I find it surprising that you seem not to be familiar with the apostle John’s words in 1Jn 3:4 (KJV) “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.” What do we call people who refuse to obey the law? Lawless, that does not take a master’s degree to deduce. I feel sure that you will agree with me when I say that, when reading God’s word we must read it exegetically, the scripture you used in an attempt to justify all meats as being clean is a common misconception. Mar 7:19 (ESV) “… since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.) However, the King James version says: Mar 7:19 (KJV) “Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging* all meats?” *Causing evacuation from. Most Bible scholars agree that the words “Thus he declared all foods clean” are a later interpolation and out of the context of the discussion. This shows us how important it is to read the scriptures in context, here the religious leaders were accusing Jesus of breaking the rabbinic traditions (netilat yadayim) by allowing his disciples to eat bread without the ritual washing of their hands, it has absolutely nothing to do with eating meat. I hope this has shed some light on the truth for you, but I encourage you and all that read this insight to be like the Bereans, do not just take anyone’s word for it, make the truth your own and do not read through a Hellenistic filter. As a final thought… 1Jn 5:1-5 (KJV) Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. (2) By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. (3) For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. (4) For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (5) Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? Jesus told us all to "follow me", if Jesus kept torah impeckably don't you think we should too? It divided and destroyed the church for a season. But, God restored a remnant and the church has healed now from the damage done and is thriving. Unfortunately, that pastor now has his own KZbin channel and is teaching a Hebraic roots/ Hebrew Israelite combined doctrine now. Honestly, right before this happened, the church was growing, maturing and growing strong in unity and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Glad to see it restored now. If you come out from under God’s law, that is lawless anarchy by definition. The Spirit of God would not lead us out from under a law the Spirit of God helped to put into place. This is why God himself warns that those who speak against the law and testimony in Isaiah 8:20 have no light in them. It is also why God warns that the condition of a heart like an adamant stone in Zechariah 7 is those who refuse to hear his law and the words he sent by his Spirit through his prophets. This is the same stony heart God says he is trying to remove from his people in Ezekiel 11 and 36. Returning to rejecting his law is not healing their stony heart, it is cementing it into place. This is what happens when churches follow Paul out from under the law in Romans 6:14. They don’t even mind that Paul warns them that he has a “messenger of Satan” in 2Corrinthians 12:7: one chapter after telling them to not marvel over the fact that Satan’s ministers are transformed into ministers of righteousness. So, your church there is following a Spirit, but I don’t think it's the Holy Spirit if they have rejected God’s law. God in Isaiah 30 tells Isaiah to write a book about that problem, arguing that it leads to people eventually wanting the Most High to cease from before them, but what does God know. Humans are so much smarter, right?

It's a _very_ unfair exchange: unfair in our favor. And yet, it's true! That is why the Gospel is called the "Good News." Hi Carissa!!! This is the Gospel Message: Jesus Christ conquered sin and death and then He sent us the Holy Spirit, Hallelujah!!! So we have the Holy Spirit in us. We can walk by the Spirit and bear His fruit: love and joy and peace and patience and kindness and gentleness and faithfulness and goodness and self-control. People fail to realize that the Ten Commandments are written on the heart of every human by design. The Ten are simply summed up as loving God and loving your neighbor. When we walk by His Spirit, we are loving Him and our neighbor. The Torah Observant crowd is very confused. They confuse the Ten Commandments, written on Beautiful Sapphire Stone by the Finger of God Himself, with the 600 laws from the Law. The Law is written on paper by man via God, big difference. Carissa, works don’t save us, but when we are truly saved, we will work, love is a verb, an action. Grace is abused in today’s church big time, I agree. But the key is walking by the Spirit. Hi, Ruth! 1.) Both are believers in Jesus. *Messianic Jews* are people who are (a.) ethnically Jewish and believe that (b.) the followers of Jesus are not required to keep the Law of Moses. On the other hand, *Hebrew Roots* are (a.) Gentiles who believe that (b.) the followers of Jesus *_are_* required to keep the Law of Moses. 2.) Yes, the NT teaches that keeping the Mosaic traditions is permitted but not required for followers of Jesus. But it's important to note that doing so will not add anything to our righteousness in God's eyes (Gal. 2:16). 3.) When Yeshua says “follow my commandments,” he does *not* then quote the law of Moses. The Torah is still relevant, but the Law of Moses is no longer required. -is it okay for believers (whether jew or gentile) to observe some of the commandments just out of enthusiasm? (Not out of a need for salvation or anything) *Why? That’s like asking should an atheist be moral if there is no cosmic scorekeeper making a list and checking it twice, trying to figure out if they have been naughty or nice. They will just ask, “Why bother, it’s not going to make any difference to my outcome.” Once you release people out from under God’s law and authority, people will inevitably creep over to a might makes right sort of survival of the fittest opportunistic mentality-especially when push comes to shove. The law of God, on the other hand, teaches love as the primary motivation in its two great commandments, so any attack on the law is intended as a direct attack on love itself. So, the question is do we have to love God and our neighbor in order to be saved, if not, then our future will inevitably become a very unloving, dangerous existence. This is why the last two parables of Matthew 25 are the two great commandments in disguise. When the unprofitable servant did no works, his master tossed him out as unprofitable, but spared those who did works and increased their talents. When the goats did no works, Christ sent them to the firey furnace prepared also for Satan and his angels. Because the goats weren’t willing to lift a finger to help those in need. But, the sheep who did the work of meeting the needs of others were spared. So, Christ seems rather clear that our salvation depends on doing the works of the law, the opposite of what most Christians teach today. Because, Christ in Revelation 22:12-14 jealously guards the tree of life and entrence into his holy city, granting that honor only to commandment keepers. Everyone else in verse 15 is stuck outside the holy city with no access to the tree of life. So, people can claim to be saved by grace without works all they want, but unless they are a blessed commandment keeper, Christ is clear they won’t get anywhere remotely close to the tree of life.* -if not the law of Moses, what instructions are believers supposed to follow? When Yeshua says “follow my commandments,” he then quotes the law of Moses, implying that the instruction of the Torah is still relevant… *Excellent point! But, let’s take this even further. In Revelation 15, we find that those who actually get the victory and stand on the sea of glass sing the song of Moses and the Lamb. Why Moses and the Lamb this long after the cross and not the song of Paul and his “messenger of Satan” that he admits to having in 2Corrinthians 12:7: just one chapter after warning us to not marvel over the idea that Satan’s ministers are transformed into ministers of righteousness??? Didn’t Paul’s ideas on being “saved by grace” replace the need for Moses??? Or, was Paul an infiltrator sent in to test us to see if we truly love god, like God says he would do in Deuteronomy 13? When people toss out the law, they aren’t even aware God might test them according to standards he set up in his law. So, they set themselves up to fail this particular test. The majority of Christians today do not strongly follow the Good Shepherd of John 10, so they don’t know the real connection between Moses and the Lamb and why they are so critical to accept as a pair together in order to gain the victory. Moses and Yeshua are the two prophets of Deuteronomy 18. And so, true believers will come to this realization and not join Paul and his Messenger of Satan in coming out from under God’s law, but they will realize that Paul is guilty of violating Isaiah 8:20 where God judges there is no light in him, and that God desires that his people bind up the testimony and seal the law among his disciples in Isaiah 8:16. This is a teaching derived from binding the law to the right hand and forehead in Deuteronomy 6. Because to come out from under the seal of God’s law and abandon that protection of God sets a person up to instead receive the mark of the beast in their right hand and forehead in Revelation 14 in the Third Angel’s Message. But, those who do not take the mark in verse 12, they keep the commandments of God (that which was taught to Moses) and have the testimony of Yeshua (that which Messiah taught in the gospels). So, that is why they sing the Song of Moses and the Lamb, because they realize the law and the gospels are complementary messages, not messages at war with each other where Christians are left trying to use the gospel to abolish the law to their own detriment. And so, we find in Revelation 12:17 that Lucifer makes war with those who keep the commandments of God and the testimony of Yeshua, but strangely isn’t making war with those who come out from under the law and teach that we are “saved by grace” (something Christ never uttered in his teachings). Because Lucifer isn’t in disagreement with the grace ideas of Paul or his messenger of Satan either one, but he is desperately at war with anyone who recognizes the law and the gospel together form the true backbone to a proper explanation of the plan of salvation. From here, God warns in Zechariah 7 of how his people have a heart like an adamant stone which God defines to be those who refuse to hear his law and the words he sent by his Spirit through his prophets. This same stony heart is what God is trying to remove from his people in Ezekiel 11 and 36 to give them a new heart: a heart willing to hear his law, because he will write his “torah” law in the hearts of those who come under the New Covenant of Jeremiah 31:31-34 when they stop rejecting Moses and the writings of torah. How can God write his law into the hearts of those who refuse to hear his law and seek to come out from under his law in Romans 6:14 or believe God’s law is not for a righteous man in 1 Timothy 1:9 like Paul believes???

I have a deep brother who we used to pray, speak in tonges, fellowship together, minister etc. Well needless to say deep christians. His pastor started to claim that is better to worship in shabbat because is the Lords day and you might know the rest. My desernment lead me to seek this symptoms and I came across this "Insane movement". I see my friend and wife declaring dietary and shabbat laws that we as christians often brake. Thank you, Ishmael! I'm sorry that you have to deal with this issue. I find it helpful to remember that keeping those Mosaic traditions is not prohibited for Christians. It is not wrong to eat kosher or keep a Saturday Sabbath, etc. We are free in Christ to do so. However, those things are not _required_ of Christians. So don't let them make you feel guilty. And remember to always interact with them in love (Matt 5:44, John 13:35), with gentleness and respect (1 Pet 3:15). Apart from that, it is difficult to offer specific advice without knowing the people and what their motivations might be. Some folks I have spoken with have been willing to engage in a deep conversation about Scripture. Others just get mad and don't want to talk about it. What is difficult in your situation is that your friends seem to be under the authority of a pastor who is leading them into Torahism. So it might be difficult to get them to test or challenge their pastor's teaching. I have a lot of videos here that might be helpful. It’s interesting, isn’t it? My family was sold on the idea that Jesus kept the Torah perfectly to show us how. They will say that Jesus never said or did anything outside of the Torah. I don’t understand how they can read the accounts of Jesus’ life, and continue to affirm that! One of the things I asked my dad is “are we all supposed to be crucified on a Roman execution rack?” Christ shows us the breadth and depth and love that the Father has for each and every person, and Christ went around picking out the “wrong kinds of people” to be with. I believe as He said, that all the law can be summarized under the heading “Love God, love others.” In ancient Israelite culture, this meant killing an ox that gored your neighbor to death. I’ve never had an ox. Or a Hebrew slave, etc etc etc. Most of the commands of the Torah seem culturally and situationally specific. Under the new covenant, we start with forgiveness, we learn from Jesus, and the Spirit guides us on how to love. (There were always people finding loopholes in the law anyway). The Spirit is who leads us in our culture and individual settings how to see our neighbor and enemies as as important as ourselves. Hope that gives you some food for thought

This law applied to Jesus, who was executed on a tree, although He had done no wrong. Jesus’ dead body was removed from the cross on the same day of His death and was buried. I would say He fulfilled the Torah rather than He kept it. Such as, He was Born at Trumpets and Circumcised on the Day of Atonement. Jesus Christ was the last required Circumcision. The Circumcision Covenant pointed to Jesus Christ. Millions of people circumcised to point to Jesus Christ. “Through the loins of Abraham all nations will be blessed”. Reading through Hebrews and Galatians with this in heart, fulfill vs. kept will open the eyes of the heart.

Thanks for the video Dr. Solberg! I love your content. I practice some of the Torah stuff as a personal decision to honor God and sometimes my family or friend asks about it. I try to be very careful not to come off judgmental, and try to articulate that this is a personal decision that is not required of me or anybody else. A video like this is a good reminder to stay vigilant of the dangers of legalism. I've been battling these ppl for over a year now. Was thinking I'd have to start a KZbin channel but you've done a great job! Phew! 1. I notice that A LOT deny that Jesus is God. I often point out that if Jesus isn't God, they've made themselves pagans. If He is God, then what happens to a marriage covenant when one party dies? 2. Quite often they cherry pick verses, or even half a verse. 3. In my experience, their most popular target is the Roman Catholic church. And the more I've studied it, the more it seems that only a small minority of Torah keepers reject Jesus' divinity. But, of course, this is not a monolithic movement, it's a scattered collection of different sects. The majority of TOs on TikTok deny Jesus is God...has to do with them accepting a lot of psuedo-history regarding Roman Catholic church and Constantine.

@@TheBiblicalRoots they argue against progressive Christianity by equating it with all of Christianity - that we don't know what sin is unless we're under the law given to Moses. I've noticed that a lot come out of deliverance/charasmatic type movements and whatever they see there, they equate with all of Christianity. Many have never really been taught the Bible and never knew the OT prior to getting into Torah Keeping. So they think Christianity merely ignores the OT and bring up things like anti-Semitism in RC church. They seem to believe anti-Semitism is why the OT is ignored and why pagan practices were preferred over OT feasts. Very conspiratorial. I'm sure you knew all that - but TikTok is an absolute mess with this movement - it's a tool to spread it quickly AND these fringe ideas (even from a TO perspective) are becoming part of the TO movement more and more.

My daughter has not spoken to me for over a year because I don’t keep Torah or come out of Babylon or celebrate the Jewish holy days with her. She says she’s shaking the dust off her feet by abandoning me. I am old and I need her. I don’t even know what “come out of Babylon” means. She and I were both saved and baptized in a southern baptist church. I believe in the pre tribulation rapture and she is going to hunker down and prep for the seven year tribulation. My prayer is that she is saved and she will be in the rapture whether she believes it or not.I don’t think it is very Christlike to treat me this way. I love her dearly and my heart is broken. They teach her not to go to church. They’ve told her to forget everything she learned as a child in church cause it was all wrong. Their church meetings are online in the cloud. They have their headquarters in a big red barn called the Puritan Barn. They charge each member $8.00 a month to be a member. They only eat kosher foods and they try to keep all those over 300 commandments in the Bible. Prepping for the tribulation and trying to keep those commandments keeps her very busy when as a. Christian she should be trying to win people to Jesus.

Thanks, honestly this movement was at first positive for me bc these people would study beyond any other religion and i love how serious they actually took it in comparison with other christian religions, their answers to my questions were really full and rich, i love to study so this religion was at first perfect for me and it actually helped me to believe for the first time in my atheist life. But just like you said, they took it way too serious, it actually destroyed my relationship bc it worsened my mental health 10 times fold bc it was such an extrict and demanding religion. I separated from then and since then i have been alone, I still enjoy their influence time to time and the only thing i kept from it is that i really enjoy learning hebrew :) i didnt knew i love languages so much and is so fun. Hopefully one day i can read the original bible and i think even tho for some people this is useless information for me is just bc of the fun of it, i wanna be friends with God and im sure as long as I keep looking for Him in any way it would be good enough for me and Him as friends :)

Awesome that they study the Old Testament deeper than many, but they miss the point of differentiating between keeping the Ten Commandments and the actual Torah. The Ten Commandments, written by the Finger of God in Stone are summed up as loving God and loving your neighbor as Jesus taught us in Matthew 22. The Old Testament is Jesus Christ concealed and the New Testament is Jesus Christ revealed.

Please hear my heart because I’m genuinely asking. What of the fourth commandment then to remember God’s sabbath and to keep it holy? If I understand right, it was the Catholic Church that changed the day from Saturday to Sunday. So grateful for this video. Some friends of mine have recently gone from Torah observant to full on deconstructing their faith to some form for Judaism. Only one person has ever kept the Torah, and they crucified Him. How much of the modern Church understands the relationship between the New Covenant and the Old Covenant? We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24. The battle between these two covenants began in Acts chapter 15 and continues to the present. During most of that time period the Judaisers have won the day. Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! Hello, Mr. Solber... I appreciate your attention to detail on this obviously important matter. I would like your recommendations on studying this topic for myself. A little background, I ended up speaking to some long-time clients of mine about the Lord. Her and her husband brought up practicing HRM but also that they were aware of the pitfall in the group and then spoke against it. So we were freely talking about and some very concerning things were said. I addressed it and then they were unsure how to respond. So they recommended talking to their pastor/rabbi/teacher about the subject. We had an hour-long phone conversation that seem very unfruitful as we were speaking past each other. One notable thing he kept mentioning was that he did not want to go back to only theology. Now, after a semi-exhaustive study on sovereignty/soteriology. Yes, it can be quite a tough conversation sometimes! The reason for those "talking past each other" moments is because of a difference in presuppositions and/or a difference in definitions. One thing I have found over the last few years as I've been really studying the Hebrew Roots Movement is that there is typically not one passage or verse you can cite that will "snap them out of it." At the end of the day, this is not really a theological problem. Christians who adopt a Torah-observant lifestyle seem to do so as an issue of identity or a misguided psychological/emotional commitment of some sort. And I very much believe there is a spiritual aspect to it, as well. With some people, you can almost see a spirit of legalism overtake them. Christ spoke of "Traditions of men" in reference to the Talmudism/ traditions of the Pharisees and others, who would come up with additional rules to add to the Law handed down to Moses, and had been doing so for generations. They would also come up with "loopholes" invented by themselves to either escape observing the Law, or some that ultimately completely defeated the purpose of the Law (pointing Israel towards God, illustrating that being right with God is not within the power of mortal men by our own efforts, teaching love of our neighbors). And honestly, yes, this cult does very much resemble that. They take something simple and turn it into a convoluted mess by trying to add this or that to it, just as the rabbis (both before/during Christ's time on earth, and especially since). They simultaneously lead people completely away from the very core of the gospel, that Christ Jesus finished the work pointed to by the Law with His death, burial, and resurrection.

I just joined a Torahism group (very very knowledgeable and inspiring). I am exploring whether or not Torahism is also for "spiritual Israel" or "the lost sheep" or for "adopted Israel ie gentiles" . It has a strong pull. I feel it is also connected to another topic that is probably similar.-"literalism vs "sacred cultural historic scripture"-my words"" . I was struggling to find the answer...because knowing and loving the Torah is so helpful to us as Christians but the laws don't seem reasonable for me, a gentile. Also the laws governing life and crime and such, and even what is a crime and its punishment are also mixed in and seem harsh(death to those involved in "sorcery". I decided to balance my belief in Torahism with love and mercy of Jesus Christ and the truth of clear logical thinking and reason. Now you are offering a scriptural backing to assist me in this exploration. Thank You! There are gifted passionate leaders in Torahism and we need them on the frontlines in Christianity if we can share this with them.

Hey peterhook, what I've found in my dealing with my in-laws is that they like the "laundary list" of things to do or not do. They like something spelled out for them. The OT is actually useful for learning some principles and such, but the Old Covenant is gone. Think of it like an old marriage. You can learn from it, but you are not under it. Also, I think the New Covenant is actually harder to keep because it deals with the heart first, whereas the Old Covenant deals mostly with external actions. "Dealing with the heart first" is illustrated most clearly in the Sermon on the Mount when Jesus says things like "If you even LOOK at a woman with lust, you've committed adultery" or "Whoever is angry with his brother is liable to judgment" or "You have been taught an eye for an eye, but I'm teaching you to turn the other cheek" and many such examples. Yes, the New Covenant is MUCH tougher to keep than the Old Covenant. But it is not keeping the New Covenant that saves you, of course, like most Torahism followers teach about the OC, it's just that it gives you something to aspire to. Blessings friend.

The main teaching I am hearing from my Hebrew Roots friends is that we don’t have a New Covenant but rather a renewed Covenant. It’s the language that is the tip off. The referring to Jesus as Yeshua and God as Ye-ho-Va (or various similar pronunciations), and of course they use the phrase renewed Covenant, because in that way they can invoke the Original as being polished up while holding onto the statutes of LoM. I will be asking my close friend about Jesus talking about new wine and new wine skins/new bottles. Primarily, you can’t put new wine into a wine skin that has been patched…you need a whole new skin.

Hi, Debra! Yes, I have heard the idea of a "renewed" covenant before, too. But that's not what Jesus called it. "This cup that is poured out for you is the new (kainos) covenant in my blood" (Luke 22:20, see also 1 Cor 11:25). _Kainos_ means "new," not "renewed." It's the same word Paul used when he refers to Christians as "ministers of a *new* covenant" (2 Cor 3:6). And the author of Hebrews uses that same word for "new covenant" in Heb 8:8, 8:13, and 9:15. My girlfriend follow the Torah teaching. She denies she is Hebrew roots. She listen to KZbin video from teachers like Bill Schnolen and Micheal K. Lake. She claims the law is required m. She quotes from Exodus that says forever. She also claims the church is corrupt and that she is fast to truth. Please pray for Kristen. I would love prayer to because she is hard to talk to because she has a strong will, and when I disagree with her she gets upset and is triggered. She suffers from CPTSD and PTSD! Particularly interesting is a look into the Hebrew word 'olam', which is the word most commonly used for 'forever' in the old testament. Hi, I have a friend. she started out as an evangelical for more than 2 decades now. She was baptized, got involved in a Christian ministry. But for 2 years now, she got involved, I assume in this movement (HRM). She no longer utter the name of Jesus, she abhors using the term Lord, God and other names of God in English. According to her these are names that have their roots in paganism. Torah is now her source of security. I think she is really confused and worst of all, I'm afraid she was never really saved to begin with. To her, to utter the names Jesus Christ, Lord, etc are somewhat blasphemous. So she would only address God as Yahuah, Yahusha. But she does not define the true meaning and simplicity of the Gospel. May i know how can a refute her, the gentle way but also straightforward. Hi Joey. Thanks for reaching out! That whole Hebrew Roots issue with the names is a very strange thing, in my opinion. It seems to me to be a misguided attempt to revere God. I suppose one thing you could point out to your friend is that the names of the months in the Hebrew calendar are actually Babylonian in origin. They were adopted by the Jews as of the time of the Babylonian exile in the sixth century BCE. According to MyJewishLearning.com, "The Bible indicates the months were oftentimes called simply by their numerical position in the year (First Month, Second Month, etc.), just as the days of the week - with the exception of Shabbat - still are in Hebrew. In addition, the Bible does record some ancient names for the months that disappeared once the Jews adopted the Babylonian names. These include the now-forgotten months of Bul and Aviv, among others." Also, Solomon used labor and materials from pagan nations to build the first temple to the Lord. So it sounds to me like your friend is overreaching in her attempt to avoid being tainted by paganism and show reverence to God. You might also ask her to explain to you _from Scripture_ why the name Jesus cannot be spoken out loud. I'd be curious how she justifies it. Blessings, Rob

I was trying to check if they have Biblical-statement of faith, sadly I found none. The sad thing about my friend is that she's trying to be so indignant towards true Christians because, in her mind the name Jesus, the Trinity, the Church, to name a few have their roots in paganism. She, I think is delusional. She thinks of everyone in the Church as deceived. She has no confidence in the New Testament Scriptures because it was written in Koine Greek. According to her, based on the materials she sought, NT Scriptures should be written in Hebrew language. It's an argument from silence, I believe if she continues to defend this faulty understanding.

It was the lingua franca of the world and educated men at that time. Ask her if she thinks God is incompetent. Did He allow His Apostles, men and women appointed to build the first floors, so to speak, of His Church upon this Earth, to be in complete error from the beginning? Not just to make mistakes in writing Scripture, *but to write it in completely the wrong language*? It's absurd. Of course, the Name of Jesus in Scripture is "Iesous", Greek form of Joshua/Jeshua/Jehoshua, a name meaning "Jah (Yahweh/Jehovah) is [our] salvation". The spelling/pronunciation "Jesus" is merely the Latinized form of the Greek. As to her assertion that the Church has roots in paganism: ask her if she believes Christ was a liar. He said He would build His Church, and the gates of Hell itself would not prevail against it. He also promised that the Holy Spirit would come and lead His Church into all Truth... So did it? Or was He not telling the truth? Did God fail in His promise to uphold His church, His Bride, His very Body? If all Truth and the right ways of speaking of and to God were lost, what happened? The Church has been here ever since Christ established it, without cease. The churches/ meeting places spoken of in Scripture still stand today, for the most part, and have been continually inhabited, handed down from one Bishop to another under the Eastern Orthodox Church, in unbroken line of descent from the Apostles themselves, and the bishops/overseers they appointed. I myself have from time to time used the name "Yehoshua" to refer to Jesus Christ, as it gives me a sense of connection with the full import and implication of His Holy Name, that He was and is both fully Man and fully God, that "Jehovah is salvation", that the Ancient of Days, the Lord of Hosts, Yahweh-sabaoth, has declared me redeemed and called me "son", and freed me from my bondage. But to even imply that one is required to speak of or to Our Lord only in the language of the Old Testament.... Nonsense. Christ Himself likely spoke Greek, along with Aramaic (which would have been the "native" tongue of the Jews in Palestine at the time, if I recall correctly, not Hebrew, which was mostly only used by religious scholars by the time of Christ).

This is a hypocritical statement to make as mainstream Christianity has for ages been guilty of the same issues, in dividing families with it's muck of varying theologies. Thank you I'm getting answers to my questions from your videos. I appreciate your gentle and humble way of presenting biblical teachings and all the research youve done. I don't want to be involved in legalism or judgmental thinking or a works based lifestyle. I can't imagine telling ppl in a country where pork and shellfish are the main food supply that they cannot eat this to survive. When you talk of the Sabbath as a law of Moses I'm left wondering why did God use the term 'remember' 🤔 when it comes to Sabbath keeping it is because it was created at the beginning of creation when there was no Jew or gentile. It says He sanctified and hallowed it . It is a blessed day for one to relax and feed your soul and concentrate on praising God without distractions. To be honest it is a day I long for every week.

Hi Hannah. The weekly Sabbath that God commanded of Israel was not created at the beginning of time. God created the universe in six days and on the seventh day He rested. But it was not a Sabbath like He gave to mankind. It was God resting from his creation. He did not go back to work creating on the 8th day. His work was completed. His seventh day never ended. Instead he rested with his people, Adam and Eve in the garden. That was his ideal. But we sinned and got kicked out of God’s rest. And God put a plan of redemption in place to one day return humanity to His rest. That is what we will find in the new heaven and new earth at the end of time. When Israel was at Sinai, God gave them the weekly Shabbat to remind them that He is the creator of all things, and that His people can rest in him and trust Him for their provision. It was a gift, a beautiful foretaste of the true rest we would one day be given. That rest has now been given to us in a new way in Christ. “So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.” -Hebrews‬ ‭4:9-10‬. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” -Matthew‬ ‭11:28‬. @@yisraelavraham4078 When I say the weekly Shabbat was "created," I am referring to the fact that Yahweh created/made/established regulations regarding resting on the seventh day: remember it, do no work, kindle no fires, etc. And those regulations include a penalty: "Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall be put to death (Ex 31:15)." The weekly Shabbat was tied to Creation and the exodus from Egypt. But it was not given until after Israel had left Egypt. If any Sabbath expectations or regulations predate that time period, they are not recorded in Scripture. Thus the weekly Shabbat was "created" by Yahweh for Israel. When they were in the wilderness manna was given to them for six days and not on the seventh and this was before Moses was given the ten commandments. Don't also forget that, that commandment is the only one that begins with 'remember' and there is no other. Furthermore you agree with all other commandments apart from this one because I'm pretty sure you don't have other gods that you worship. Let me tell you what makes me feel so strongly about the 10 commandments it's because God took time to write them Himself and I also believe it is a moral obligation to humankind that even a servant gets time to rest and worship their maker just as we are morally obligated to not kill.

And I agree with you that the 10 Commandments are a very big deal because they were given directly by Yahweh. However, I disagree that the weekly Sabbath regulations were "a moral obligation to humankind" because they were not given to humankind. They were only given to Israel. I remain convinced that the best approach is not to target the Torah and argue against it's validity in the New Covenant era, but to emphasize its Old Testament purpose. The Torah served as God's standard required of Israel for the inheritance of the land. Scripture is clear about this connection. The blessings for obedience are land based: bountiful harvest, safety, and success on the land. The curses for disobedience to the Torah are also land based: famine, disease, war and exile. Circumcision is a sign of the inheritance of the land. This is why the procedure of circumcision has always represented entry into full obligation to obey the Torah. Once the inheritance is received, it is followed by the imperative to obey God's terms for that inheritance. Once you walk a "Hebrew Roots" advocate down these points, the logic should lock in the conclusion that the Torah is not for the gentile - not for salvation purposes, nor is it for "sanctification" purposes. It is land based, for residence/safety on the land. It doesn't apply to the gentile now, and it didn't apply to the gentile then. Yes, some things were required of the "Ger" and "Toshav" however these were gentiles seeking to live on the land. The beauty of the New Covenant is that gentiles can join the Covenant without having to become circumcised. The full implication of this, is that gentiles are allowed to become Covenant members without having to bind themselves to the land and its obligations.

I will try this. I've worked side by side with a HR guy for over 3 years now. We agree on the death, burial, resurrection, and a few other non salvation issues but there is much disagreement. We have settled the differences in a peaceful manner, but I am CONSTANTLY inundated with HR theology and it has driven my brother and I crazy. I'm convinced God put this guy in my life to drive me to read and study more lol. I will try this approach but I have little hope that anything will change this man's mind

There might be a problem then if that’s true Ian. It would be totally fine if you believe like 80% or 90% of christianity that we go to Heaven when we die. If that we’re true then your probably right. The scripture tells us what happens in the end...... Because the end is declared in the beginning we see that God has many time tried to live with us and we keep messing up. In creation he made a perfect place and people that were without sin and he could be with them. He said to build the Mishkan so that He may dwell in us. Exo.25:8 (Mishkan in Hebrew is a home that’s in us. Like the the name of the younger sister in Ezekiel) the Mishkan was designed like an eden with floral decorations and a tree (menorah). Yahshua came and conquered death to allow us to be able to live with God again like it was supposed to be from the beginning. God still has rules of how to act towards Him and to each other that apply in His house forever. It’s all about inheritance of the land all the land on earth. From the beginning to the end! “And I saw a renewed heaven and a renewed earth, for the former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea is no more. And I, Yoḥanan, saw the set-apart city, renewed Yerushalayim, coming down out of the heaven from Elohim, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. I was told going to church on Sunday was a sign of the mark of the beast. (They say keeping sabbath basically meant going to church). I said when I was growing up we went to church Wednesday night, Saturday night, Sunday morning and night. So was I keeping sabbath three times a week? Shouldn’t you worship God every day? Then I asked what is the sabbath for? It’s rest. Why is going to a church service considered rest? They didn’t really have an answer. I didn’t go into Jesus being our sabbath rest because they walked away. But I could see they were thinking.

I did spend a good amount of time just reading Galatians while camping in the woods. It was great having just a bible, a notepad, a pen, and the Holy Spirit. Most of my notes are hand written. It is fairly black and white that Paul was speaking of the mosaic law right? He even mentions Mt. Sinai. Just some highlights: Paul compares Hagar to Sarah, the slave son to the FREE son born of the promise. He asked Peter a tough questions in 2:14. But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews? Then yet another tough question in 3:2. It was awesome to see God unfold the fullfillment of the law via Christ. I took note of the use of the words "until" and "till" throughout Galatians. These are the two points of this adventure. Focus on the Questions asked and the use of the words Until, till, fulfillment. 3:10-14 Paul mentions the curse of the law, and Christ hanging on a tree as being a curse for us who were living under a curse. Paul even explicitly mentions the purpose of the law. 3:19 - What then was the purpose of the law? It was added because of transgressions until the seed(Christ) to whom the promise referred had come. "seed" meaning one person who is Christ. 3:23 Paul states that Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up....until faith should be revealed. 3:24 states the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ. 3:25 states we are no longer under supervision of the law. Ch 4 - Paul compares the slave to a son who is underage and under the supervision of guardians and trustees.....until.... the time set by his father. Paul asks ...how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? 4:21 tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you aware of what the law says? from here he compares the case between Hagar and Sarah. Mt. Sinai Covenant to those born of promise. Slavery under Hagar via the law, compared to freedom via children of promise (Issac). References refer us to 2 COR 3:17 speaks of the veil that exists even today when the law is read. a Veil that covers their hearts. ...but whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. And we who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory are being transformed into his likeness.... 5:4 Paul states ... You who have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law, you have fallen from grace. ... but if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Back to 1:7-8 Paul is pretty bold in stating those who pervert the gospel.... let him be accursed. x2. In talking to some who have followed the HRM (hebrew roots movement) I have been told that some in the HRM denounce and refuse to follow the epistles written by Paul, and then some go further to denounce Christ all together, so this sounds like a Jew who is still waiting for the Messiah to come. Right? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some added thoughts below for future study and discussion. The older I get, the more I realize that I need to take God's word in its entirety from Genesis to Revelations. To develop a theology from Just Galatians is not wise. Just as to develop theology from the book of Leviticus is not wise. The story told is a timeline. I am no theologian. But to consider when, and to whom scripture was written is a great approach. Was it written to Gentiles, or the Jewish nation only? Or written to all those who have accepted Christ? Was it written to just the Jewish Nation would be a great question to ask self. For instance the book of James some say was written before much of Paul's writing in scripture. The book of James explicitly written to the 12 tribes scattered abroad. So, was it written to the Gentiles as well? If in fact it was written before Paul's epistles and just to the Jewish Tribes then how does it dovetail into the completed story of God's Love and His Infinite Wisdom? If I may compare God's message to that of building a car or a house. Ok a car. Early in the assembly line we would have a Frame of a Car Built. Nice Steel Frame. It is completed. It is finished in the story line (assembly line). Do we need to go back in time and build another frame or should we complete the car so that we can drive it off of the lot shiny and new and in the Case of Jesus Christ and Him alone Perfect. Jesus is Perfection. The car is now completed and ready to roll. The frame was necessary. Do we need to go back in time and build another car frame (the law) or do we humbly accept the completed and Perfect Christ and His sacrificial Gift? Perfection has Come and He is Jesus. Do we need to go back and build another car frame? Paul was clear as stated above the purpose of the law (car frame). Please forgive my feeble analogy as my human mind attempts to create a picture of God's Plan, God's Love, and God's Incredible Sacrifice of His Perfect and ONLY son in Jesus Christ. Matthew 5:17 New International Version The Fulfillment of the Law “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

I have a question relating to the 10 commandments... do any/all of them still apply? why or why not? also... much of the law is given to us as a blessing because what it does for us is defining the character of God (God is not a thief, therefore it is wrong to steal, etc... ) Is this correct? or incorrect? Faith is the one requirement for entering God's rest. Now we who have believed enter that rest. Hebrews 4:3 Faith in Jesus is how we enter that rest. Our Sabbath rest is in Christ. Yeshua is our Shabbat. Jesus is our rest, our Sabbath. The Torah Sabbath is not our Sabbath. That Sabbath pointed us to Christ, to the real Sabbath, the real rest. If we're in Christ, we're not under the legal Sabbath observance commanded in the Law of Moses. This might explain why, in the New Testament, the Mosaic regulations regarding the Sabbath are nowhere repeated or re-taught, even though the rest of the Ten Commandments are. Our rest in Jesus is an unearned gift from the Father, and keeping the Mosaic Sabbath regulations won't contribute anything to that rest, or to our standing before God. While keeping those Sabbath observances is no longer required, it's also not been forbidden. So if someone wants to keep Shabbat, even as it was given in the Torah, they're free in Christ to do so as a matter of personal preference. Under the New Covenant, keeping the Mosaic Sabbath regulations is permitted but not required. Christ is our Sabbath. Jesus said, "Take my yoke upon you and I will give you rest." He also said " it is finished " There's nothing we could do, no weekly rest, or Torah observance, or Jewish traditions that could add a single thing to what Christ has already accomplished.

Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. It’s interesting that Jesus didn’t command us to keep the whole Law of Moses, yet He kept it Himself. How does that add up? Well, it turns out there are two reasons this makes good sense. First, Jesus was Jewish. Unlike every Gentile in history, Jesus was actually under the Law of Moses. And, second, at His resurrection, the entire world changed. That one event split history in two and brought an end to the Sinai covenant (Heb 8:13). The book of Galatians teaches that the Law was given as a guardian until Jesus came, but now that He has come, we’re no longer under the Law. (Gal 3:24-25). And Ephesians 2 says that Jesus abolished “the law of commandments expressed in ordinances” so that He might reconcile both Jews and Gentiles to God (Eph 2:14-16). The Law of Moses was in effect for the Jewish people right up until the day Jesus was crucified. On that day, the New Covenant began. Jesus told us at the Last Supper that the New Covenant was in His blood (Luke 22:20, 1 Cor 11:25). And upon His resurrection, He became our new High Priest, and “when there is a change of the priesthood, there must be a change of law as well” (Heb 7:12). So Jesus lived His life under the Law of Moses (Gal 4:4-5). And upon His death, as the apostle Paul put it, He “redeemed us from the curse of the law” (Gal 3:13). Walking as Jesus walked doesn’t mean we have to keep the Law of Moses. To walk as Jesus walked is to walk in the light; to live our lives in the truth of God, and to walk in love. That's the command Jesus require new covenant believers to do. You, my friend, are nothing but a judaizer not a true follower of Christ. You're a false teacher Paul warned the church about.

It’s was prophesied in Isaiah 11 that Yah will once again gather his people for a second time(Greater Exodus). Now that we have the groundwork established, Paul also stated in Romans 11 that the gentiles are grafted into the common wealth of Israel. He is referring the the regathering of the lost sheep of Israel, those from the dispersion. Jeremiah 31:31-33 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. The new covenant is with Israel and Judah(two houses), not “The church”. If you aren’t a part of Israel or Judah then you aren’t in the new covenant. As said above we are grafted into Israel and that is how we are a part of this new covenant. However it’s more of a renewal contract. The terms are the same(keeping Yah’s Law) but the people are different(think of the parable of the wedding guests). Exodus 12:49 One law shall be for the native-born and for the stranger who dwells among you.” There has always been one law for the native born and the stranger in their midst, and now that very law is written on our hearts. Sin is transgression of the Law 1 John 3:4, if it was a sin when the messiah walked the earth then it is still a sin today. For example if it is okay to eat unclean meats like pork then why is every mention of swine in the bible(new and old) in the negative context; Lev. 11:7, Deu.14:8, Isa. 66:5, Isa. 66:3, Isa. 66:17, Pro.11:22, Matt. 7:6, Matt. 8:30-32, Mark 5:11-13, Luke 8:32-33, Luke 15:15-16, 2peter 2:22. Why does Isaiah 66 say that eaters of swines flesh will be destroyed by fire upon the Day of the Lord. ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭66:15-17‬ ‭‬‬ “For behold, the Lord will come with fire And with His chariots, like a whirlwind, To render His anger with fury, And His rebuke with flames of fire. Hallo, George! In my research, there is not one monolithic doctrine of belief that all HRM subscribe to. And I have not come across any HRM teachings specifically about atonement. It does not appear to be a part of their Torah-keeping theology. Thus, I would say the majority of Torah-keepers seem to believe in the "mainstream" Christian doctrine of atonement, that it comes through the blood of Christ alone. Most (but not all) HRM take the position that keeping Torah is not a matter of salvation, but rather obedience. Gnade und Frieden, Rob

I caught your debate with Sean from Kingdom in context. On a previous stream I heard Sean speak of the Holy Spirit not being a spirit but an angel. I also heard him mention that he believe Jesus is sacrificing animals in heaven continuously and that human sacrifice is not appropriate. Wow. There is so much wrong with this. To pick outliers and apply it to all who follow Torah but believe Yeshua is Messiah is unfair. Anyone who believes the Messiah and follows Torah is not a gentile. Read Ruth. There are 2 groups in the world, Israel and Gentiles. Israel is God's chosen people. You can be part of them or not. BTW grace is not unmerited favor. Do a word study. Grace is always merited. Compassion and Mercy are unmerited. This guy is so good at taking the text out of context. So sad.

If you believe in Messiah and keep Torah, you are not a Gentile. You have become part of Israel. There is no such thing as a Messianic Gentile. You are either Israel or the world (Gentile). The mixed multitude that came out of Israel became part of Israel. Caleb for example. Ruth is another. And you are right, Gentiles have no part in the Sinai Covenant and are not expected to keep Torah. So glad the Lord helped me find your videos. I’ve been struggling with this myself via people on Instagram. It does sound appealing because of course I want to have a closer walk with God but then it becomes a great stumbling block because it makes me question my salvation. And I’ve noticed they never talk about Jesus and His work and how “it is finished” and what about GRACE!?! And that’s why I’m so confused them saying keep the law because no one is able to keep the law because we are sinners and that’s why Jesus came to save us!!! It is finished! There’s nothing we can do! GOD/JESUS/ DID IT ALL!!! ugh it’s fo frustrating. I was afraid what if I wasn’t a real Christian at all and I’ll never be good enough. Amen! Yes, a common error made by the Hebrew Roots movement is trying to view Jesus through the Law of Moses. Which is like looking through the wrong end of a telescope! Jesus is superior to Moses, and the New Covenant is superior to the Mosaic Covenant (Hebrews 8:6-7). I have an old friend from school that kept referring to God as the "Almighty" exclusively, which was my first red flag. Then he kept trying to get me to be "discipled" by him, which was the second red flag. He also told me that, ever since he became a part of this movement, he has family members who no longer speak to him accusing him of being part of a cult. I prayed about this, and so far have concluded that this was not a critical salvation issue, since he professes that salvation is still only through faith in Jesus alone. Please let me know if I need to be concerned over this friend.

Yes it is a matter of salvation. You cannot put new wine into old wineskins. Jesus was saying... You cannot mingle covenants. You need to ask him who Jesus is? Does he believe Jesus is God? If he doesn't then it is a salvation issue. Unitarians (only believing in the Father) are not saved as they deny the deity of Jesus. If Jesus is not God then the atonement didn't happen. It is vital that he believes Jesus is God in the flesh.

HRM gets around first point with a variation on the 'British Israelitism' of Armstrongism by claiming that they are part of the Lost Northern Tribes of Israel. It is kind of a replacement theology in reverse. HRM gets around the second point by claiming that all non-Torah keepers are Pagan and not part of the true church. HRM gets around the last point by questioning the NT, Paul, and re-defining Jesus.

My sister had a revelation one night from God about 2 years ago, she really got into the Bible after this (and she also helped me get back in to Bible). We have many disagreements over the Sabath issue, in fact she follows the moon calendar to celebrate her sabath. She believes in being saved by grace but she contents she is following the commandment in Revolutions which says to follow Gods commandments. She thinks by me celebrating Christmas and Easters I am observing pagen ways. She also says (when I bring up Paul) that everyone misunderstands Paul, the disciple who said he was afraid people would misunderstand what Paul was preaching. I don't know how to get thru to her.

Hi Barbara. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with your sister. You might find this video helpful if you haven't seen it yet: *Five tips for a biblical response to our Torah-keeping friends and family* kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIOulGlrrpmBgrc One thing I have found over the last few years as I've been really studying this movement is that there is typically not one passage or verse you can cite that will "snap them out of it." And at the end of the day, this is not really a theological problem. Christians like your sister who adopt a Torah-observant lifestyle (and are divisive about it) seem to do so in response to an issue of identity or a misguided emotional commitment of some sort. And I very much believe there is a spiritual aspect to it, as well. With some people, you can almost see a spirit of legalism overtake them. So my advice is to love your sister, pray for her, but hold your ground biblically. Don't let her guilt you about Christmas and Easter and Saturday Sabbath, and so on. Our salvation and our righteousness are complete in Jesus! There is nothing we can do to add a thing to the righteousness that is ours through faith in Him. Blessings, Rob

Mr Solberg, have you ever looked into the Orthodox Church? I have attended that church at a number of it's different types (Ukrainian, Russian and North American Orthodox) and wondered if it was the historical church of Christ handed down by apostolic succession. But despite my attendance I have not become eastern orthodox. I'm just not settled on it for some reason. I like a lot about the orthodox church but there are aspects that make me hesitant. Hi, Aaron. I've not studied the orthodox church much, although I have a friend who is Russian Orthodox. (And one of my favorite musical artists is the Kiev Chamber Choir!) I know they affirm key doctrines such as the Trinity, the Bible as the Word of God and Jesus as God the Son. But I don't subscribe to their theology because, as far as I have seen, they don't teach justification by faith (which I see as a key teaching of the Bible!), and they hold the authority of church tradition on the level of Scripture, to the point that they seem to discourage people from interpreting the Bible apart from church tradition, which I do not find biblical. That said, I do believe there are many Orthodox and Catholic believers who are genuinely saved and are our brothers and sisters in Christ. Blessings, RLS

He gave you plain simple New Covenant theology that is in every book of the New Testament. That one guy he mentioned isn’t probably even saved if he is going to leave his wife to move to Israel. BRo, read the Epistle of Barnabas (1st century) as it says they gathered on the Lord’s day (Sunday). James doesn’t teach salvation by works and if you think so, you only read it one time with HRM presuppositions in your mind. James is dealing with hypocrisy of those who claim to be Christian yet have no good works or don’t love their neighbor or brother IN ACTION. HRM people can never read anything in its context. If salivation was even partly by works, then the Bible is a lie because it has a major contradiction or some people just cant read in context. I will go with the latter.

Hi, Andria. Since I don't call Paul a false apostle or reject his teachings, I don't see a need to find "grace through faith" elsewhere in Scripture. That said, I think we see it in many places. For example, the Israelites coming into the Promised Land. They were led there by the grace of God and entered the Land through faith. Hi, I’m struggling with this question myself, and can’t settle down, as both sides seem to have good arguments. I saw some arguments pointing the fact that if you take out all of Paul’s letters and teachings, as he is not an eyewithness, almost all the arguments for not keeping the law of Moses drop down. How can we defend the non-keeping the laws of Moses without using Paul’s teachings, knowing that from a jewish perceptive, they might see the episode of Jesus declaring all food good from Matthew more accurate than Marc, with the focus around eating without washing hands at first being the issue? From someone who don’t know how to settle this down, Thank you.
