Great vid! Go to a different market though buddy! Co Bac / Co Giang street by the Nguyen thai hoc bridge has cheaper prices and friendlier too. My experience 😂. Take care nothing but love for ya!!

Vietnam is a great place and is cheap but as a foreigner you will always (most of the time) pay more, sometimes as much as double the price or more, so keep that in mind. If you shop at regular supermarkets you can get local prices. Also before Grab was a thing motorbike taxis always charged rip-off prices to foreigners, I could never get a ride under $2.0 USD anywhere. You have great videos Skye, keep it up :D

I know How you feel. I have been there and my experience was similar. A cute lady was selling a coconut on street for $5. I bought it at the airport for just $3.

there are soymilk and fresh coconut vendors everywhere in Vietnam. you should get them fresh and help the small business at the same time, especially the fresh soymilk they cook everyday, it actually taste different than the boxed ones and some soymilk vendor might also carry fresh tofu

I went to Vietnam 2 years ago and we spent a lot! It cost as much as in Sydney Australia if you look for the quality stuff. However, if you are willing to accept the low quality stuff that local people are used to, it costs a lot less. Vietnamese who live with high standard foods and quality stuff say the same thing. They find the costs in HCM and Hanoi nearly the same as Sydney Australia. As soon as one looks for quality foods, the price is way up. As all the best fruits would be exported to China, looking for high quality fruits immediately takes the price to the level 2x or 3x the normal prices. Try tp eat some quality beef and immediately the price is 2x the price in the USA in Australia. So, yes, the cost is low, but only if one accepts the low quality products. Only occasionally, one can get a good quality meal for 2/3 the price in expensive places like Sydney Australia. This requires knowing the right places recommended by friends.

I stayed in Hanoi for 3 mos visiting my fiancé, I bought a good bicycle $100 and that’s how I got around in the city. I think I saved a bit of money on transport and loose some weight. I gave the bicycle to a college kid when I left VN. If you don’t travel more than 3 miles a trip then a bicycle could be good.

With her Vietnamese, ill charge her double for tourist pricing. When im in vn , i buy local clothing and ill try to blend on in n even try to act like im from the country side mien que or mien tay. This is to get the local pricing and not getting rip off. After my trip, ill give everything in my luggage away including the luggage.

Hey, I am paying my bills mostly with Garmin Pay via my Garmin Smart Watch here in California. I would love it if Vietnam expats would include the payment options after each one of their restaurant reviews. Also showing payment options at malls and local shops would be useful as well in the Vietnam daily life of an expat videos. Thanks.
