I moved to Utah almost two years ago. I knew nothing of The LDS church or the book of Morman until I met my neighbors (they literally are saints just wonderful people). I grew up a Baptist Christian so I was interested in learning more about Jesus so my neighbors got me lessons with the missionaries in my area. I’ve been studying with them for a month now and I’m getting baptized on Christmas. I still have a lot of questions if I’m being honest but I’ve prayed and been told to get baptized so I am. Please pray for my journey. Like Kwaku said I feel like I’m walking up a huge hill but I fell like the view from the top will be soooo worth it 😊

I'm joining a YSA. My baptism is Sept 18, 2021. I'm definitely older than most of the ward. Yet they are EXTREMELY excited about what I'm doing. They have made me part of their family. I resisted for six months. I'm a very stubborn Baptist. I had to be sure that I was on the right path. I still wasn't going to except Sister Fairclough didn't ask the third time. She just got bold and set the date. I was too nice to say no. So I went home and prayed and fasted for two days then had a personal revelation that showed me this IS the path I need to take. Thank you Chaparral Park YSA for adopting me into the ward family.

Wow. What Tamu said about giving up family really resonated with me. After I converted, I struggled with this. I gave up a lot of familial relationships, and didn't get the ward family everyone promised me I'd have. I struggled a lot with being alone. It took a lot of prayer and I even stopped going to church for a time, but there were lessons to be learned and primarily I learned how to cling to faith when you feel like you have nothing else. It's one thing we will always have, and blessings do come.

Yes.. I'm a lds convert from really big, really unforgiving catholic family. Still feel alone after quite a while no matter how active I've been before. My testimony gets harshly dented, beaten, battered brutally. Some scratches. But absolutely no fractures or breaks in my testimony of the church. Done my long years experience enduring much strife of life with much much trauma, praying, looking for truth, studying, vicious cycles of doing good and bad, etc. Beyond certain I'm home only in the lds faith. No other woman attracts me more than the real life disney princess looking lds woman. Who also look just like everyone else too. But do better job at acknowledging their divine, royal birth right to reign throughout eternity in God's kingdom. As genuinely very very very godlike people. Critics strongly disagree with all they can muster. However, the bible quite clear enough, "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; *heirs of God,* and *joint-heirs* *with* *Christ;* if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be *also* *glorified* *together.* For I reckon that the *sufferings* *of* *this* *present* *time* are *not* *worthy* *to* *be* *compared* *with* *the* *glory* *which* *shall* *be* *revealed* *in* *us.* (Romans 8: 16-18) We suffer so much but so temporarily for what true ultimate riches and treasures await us. That we get to enjoy forever hereafter. Gotta march on. Gotta hold on. Good luck. 🙏🏼

Chris and I aren't converts quite yet but plan on being baptized in May. We are so thankful for the gospel and all that we're learning. Thankfully we have a firm faith in Christ, so as we go through the storms that we're currently weathering we know whether we're welcomed by everyone at church or not, our faith is firmly planted on The Rock. Having said that, we do feel quite wanted and needed at church and find the welcoming church family is just a great bonus and a true testament to the body of Christ.

One of the missionaries who I studied with is getting transferred tomorrow. The other in another 6 weeks. I postponed my baptism a couple weeks but am glad I did because I'm wondering if I will still feel connected without them. My mother was studying at the same location some years ago with the sisters that were here and she fell off when they left. I enjoy everyone at the Church, but most of the other people are older and married. The missionaries were like my brothers. My friends. Like peers and pals. We laughed. They made me cry with timely phone calls through wicked trials. It just does not feel the same now the reality that they are leaving is setting in and I'm wondering if their fellowship was the hugest part of why my walk through this has been so awesome. I know it's been 4 years since you wrote this and I wish I had seen this much sooner, because I would have liked to tell you to just make sure you ask ALL your questions before you are baptized, (hopefully it all worked out for you), because apparently, once you are a baptized member you are not allowed to express any doubt or confusion in the church meeting setting. I still had a lot of questions after my baptism and had been told that I should go to the Gospel Principles class on Sunday and not the Gospel Doctrine class, because there I could ask my questions, which wasn't appropriate to do in Gospel Doctrine class. Unfortunately, when I asked questions during one class, I got told by the teacher at the end of the class, in front of everyone, that it was not appropriate to ask questions when there are' investigators' present, and in future to leave my questions for outside of the class. I was so humiliated, and also felt kind of 'trapped' because I had no idea where I could go to get answers....so I quit going to church and decided I would just have to figure it all out for myself....I'm still trying to do that....12 years later.

I Loved this episode. I was baptized a year ago but after attending two very different wards I never felt comfortable or truly welcomed so I stopped going to church altogether. I loved learning from the missionaries and I loved the gospel and message of the church but attending the actual service itself is torture for me. I just feel so alone, sad and lost. They say things and refer to things that as a convert I don't understand so it just seems easier to not attend. Add to that the fact that my catholic family thinks negatively about the church, and my difficulty giving up coffee, quitting just seems like the way to go. But I love hearing about everyone else's positive experience and I love following along with the gospel app even though I don't go to church.
@SaintsUnscripted6 жыл бұрын
Nelly Bee I am so sorry. That is very unfortunate :( It's hard because the lingo is different, the culture is different, and the practices are different. But it's so important to partake of the Sacrament and to welcome others who are seeking love and forgiveness. It's very sad that not all members of the Church are welcoming and kind. Sometimes we have to step up and be the people that are welcoming and kind. Keep it up with the gospel app, I sure love that app!

Hi Nelly, I know it's hard. I've been a member all my life but I was inactive for a long time. Going back to church is so difficult for me, not because I don't believe it but because I feel alone and out of place. I go because it's what my Heavenly Father wants. I go to learn and partake of the Sacrament. What really helps me is remembering how difficult life was when I was inactive. Even now, faced with the same issues, life is so much easier to face because I have a weekly reminder that I am not alone in my trials. Write down all the reasons you believe in the gospel, write down the blessings that have come into your life, and when things get tough go back and read them. It will help. I promise.

Of course we believe going to church will open you up to blessings that are not available otherwise- however, God loves everyone and he knows your intent. I encourage you to go for at least sacrament meeting, and to ask questions, but if nothing else, i would encourage you to keep turning to God. Members are all imperfect, but the gospel isn’t, and God isn’t. I hope you find comfort and joy on your journey in life!!

Nelly I was just like you. I did not like going to church because I didnt feel welcome or I just didn't think people were nice. But I had to learned that I'm not going there for them, I'm going their for myself n my own salvation. Also I had to learned to be the one to say hi or hello to people eventhough it is hard for me. I'm not a social person, but I thought if I want to change the way I feel about about not feeling welcome or lonely or think people aren't that friendly, I need to change the way I think and start going up to people and talk to them instead. And I try not to take things personally. We are imperfect after all. I also learned to changed my attitude and not letting small things bother me. Because I want to truly be happy and focus on the main reason why I go to church every Sunday. I truly love the church and the gospel. Sorry you're having a hard time, but I agree with the others, I'm so glad you're still reading and following along with Church stuff. Don't give up! Just keep going and just start saying hello to people, you'll feel really good. You never know, you will might change other's along the way. Just a simple hello will help alot, I promise you that. David Solomon you don't need a video it's simple he was arrested, charged, tried and PLEAD GUILTY TO THE CHARGE OF JUGGLING, OR GLASS LOOKING, a offense, (misdemeanor) of fraud or theft by deception. And most interesting he was practicing this glass looking, defined in the Bible as divination or WITCHCRAFT!!! At the same time that he was supposedly being regularly visited by God the Father, and Jesus, and Moroni, etcetera etcetera etcetera, sounds real credible doesn't it. Joseph Smith is a satanic blasphemous lying fraud as is the blasfeming doctrine he perpetrated upon the world, repent and disavow your conversion now while you still have time. Once it's to late it's tooooo late
@withkwaku6 жыл бұрын
David, notice how these people don't have any sources to back this up? When and where was he charged for this? Also I'd like to point out that witches aren't real. Saying Joseph's visions, and the miracles of the restoration are because of Satan, echoes the foolish accusations of the Pharisees in Matthew 12. Jesus is accused of doing miracles by the power of Satan. "22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. 23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? 24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. 25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: 26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? 27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. 28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you." The Bible is clear that these miracles are of God. Hating the Lord's prophets and accusing them of evil, is par for the course of those who don't have the truth, and hate the truth. Also, using objects for divine or supernatural work (like Joseph did) isn't witchcraft. Moses had a "magic stick" by your logic. Jesus healing people with clay etc. Objects in divinity is a gospel truth, period.

I understand your concern. The belief about gender is that our spirit is the gender you are born to, and has been in the preexistence and what you will be in the next life. You won't´t be able to marry a person with the same sex as you were born to or revive the priesthood in church, but people might respect your wish to be called and perceived as a man in other ways. I believe the gospel is ment for everyone and that God loves you no matter what. We are all given different challenges in life, some we understand the meaning of right now, and some we´ll understand some day. I have two transgender persons in my congregation. They are loved.

If you judge any organization based on it's people only, you will always be disappointed. I wish it wasn't the case but the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints is no exception because it's filled with human beings and human beings are flawed. When you are trying to follow in the Saviors footsteps it's worth pointing out that those who are living the Gospel as it should be lived will provide a better experience to be around than those who are not. Members or not. Each member is responsible for their own salvation regardless of the ward, location or actions of others. I love new converts and I pray that each of you will come closer to Christ until you have testimonies that are so strong that nothing will break them.

It's such a relativity inconsequential detail, but it would be very interesting to hear different opinions on the subject. I love all the insightful and uplifting content on the channel though guys. Keep it up!

Lol. No one said you had to give up TV or homework on Sundays. We believe in honoring the Sabbath as commanded in the bible (one of the 10 commandments). Everyone can decide what that means for them, but generally we try to focus on wholesome family activities. And church is only two hours 🙂

Ugh. Listen, it's not that I'm doubting other humans faiths or beliefs whatsover. I love seeing gentle, well meaning people go about their lives with positive intent. But to hear things like 'i got the calling' etc isn't enough for me to convert, personally speaking. I'm quite certain that every faith and spirituality around the whole world has had converts come to that conclusion, and they are no less wholehearted in their belief right?

I have so many questions. Like, it's odd to me how there are so many abstract concepts like hell and God being thrown around without any kind of discussion about any of it It's a pretty heavy topic, yet also an incredibly light one because abstraction has no firm grounding. So let's talk.

What is "line upon line, precept upon precept"?
@wildflowersandfreckles6 жыл бұрын
LKFam, in 2 Nephi 28: 30, it says “For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that shall say, We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they have.” Or in other words, many small answers over a period of time, as you are ready for them. “As President Boyd K. Packer has explained: ‘I have learned that strong, impressive spiritual experiences do not come to us very frequently’ (That All May be Edified [1982], 337). Most typically we receive a series of seemingly small and incremental spiritual impressions and nudges, which in totality constitute the desired confirmation about the correctness of the path which we are pursuing.” -New Era September 2010 “Line Upon Line, Precept upon Precept” Hope that helps. :-)

I appreciate your honesty in all this. I am sorry to hear that one of you was ostracized from your family as a result of your conversion. I don't think that is a Christian approach. One though is that you mention the comfort from knowing you'll see your family in heaven. As great as that sounds our reason for following something shouldn't be because it feels good but because it's true. The new testament seems to really say that Jesus will separate the wheat from the chaff. It seems like Mormonism seems to ignore that in hopes for what feels good.
@SaintsUnscripted6 жыл бұрын
Bearded Disciple I agree. I think we often get caught up in this idea of "doing something because of the reward," but like Tamu mentioned, we shouldn't do things because of the "blessings on high," we should do things because we love God. There are some people (in the Mormon church included) who teach far too much about doing things for the rewards and far too little about doing things because they love Christ. The Mormon religion, despite having some people who don't teach it perfectly, believes that we should act because we love God and Christ. I hope that helps. You've brought up a great point, thanks for your comment.

@ireneliljansalo21245 жыл бұрын
We´ll it´s not true that we don´t drink any tea. I am am a big tea drinker, but I drink herbal tea wish is healthy. We believe that there are substances in other kinds of tea, for instance black tea, that is´t good for your body. The word of wisdom came as a revelation in the 18-hundreds which include not to drink alcohol, smoke tobacco and so on. We are supposed to take care of our bodies,,but of course that means also that we don´t over indulge with other things either; sweets, sodas, foods,,your bodies are temples for our souls.

You have to give up your family to convert?
@ireneliljansalo21245 жыл бұрын
No, absolutely not, but sometimes it happens that a person loose friends and family because they disapprove of your choice to become a member. But your family is very important even though you might live very different lives and believe different things,,,,so it´s not we who should distance ourself from ones family but they might distance themselves from us.

Were you taught who the real Jesus is in the Mormon church? Did they tell you God and Jesus are men, that Jesus was not created by the Holy Spirit? "God is an exalted man, He was just like us, but now he is an exalted man" Joesph Smith, teachings of Joseph Smith". John1:13 " Who were born, not of blood of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man". Matt 1:20 "For that which is conceived in Her is of the Holy Spirit". Gal 1:9 " As we have said before so now I say it again if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be cursed."

That is strange to me, Benjamin Gilissen. I was raised in the Church, but I don't see converts being treated differently. No, I take that back. They are treated differently, they are treated better....at least in my ward. Remember, people make up the church, not angels. If you have a question , ASK someone.

I thought cold caffeinated drinks were ok, but who knows? The church has changed its stance on so many things over the years it's hard to keep up. When I was little Coke & Pepsi were a big no-no. Blacks were not able to hold the priesthood, and it was anti-mormon to say that Joseph Smith was married to other men's wives, and had relations with them while they were away on their missions. Oh how times have changed. Now all an investigator has to do to learn about the church's not so family friendly past is to go to lds.org and click on Gospel Topics section and learn from the apostles themselves. Praise the Lord for lds.org.

But my question to everyone watching this video and reading my comment is: Before you converted to LDS, did you read your Bible? I'm asking this because the Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrines Covenants do not agree with the Bible. The setups and payoffs are entirely different, and there is no firm proof that supports the claims of the Mormon religion, as there are actual historical locations and relics that confirm the Bible. 👀
