Hello!! Thank you for the good vibes, how nice you are! Great that you have come to visit our country and have preferred to rent a car, it is the best way to enjoy it, even though not everyone is encouraged to drive through all those diverse places and with those degrees of difficulty. I wish you many more happy adventures in our country and around the world.

Just got home from five weeks in Argentina. We used your videos as my framework. With the exception of the glacier I’m pretty sure I did even more than you. Thanks for all your help. I left salta in a rental to travel on route 40 and went down to San Miguel in the Tucuman province before turning around and heading back up and it was an amazing part of the trip. After BA I went to Montevideo for a week and then flew north to Panama for a week before making my way back to the states. I found those two last stops were a great way to end the trip Thanks for all the help.

Wow, that sounds great! We’re so glad you had an awesome trip and that you found our videos helpful. It’s such a beautiful country! We still have a lot more to share from the rest of South America coming up! ☺️ P.s. Next time you need to put Perito Moreno on your list! 😉

Craig likes driving, like me. And in Argentina, correct side of the road! Lol…I’d be so lost driving in Britain!

Argentina is like New Jersey. All full service gas stations. Until last year, it had been decades since I’d ever seen a fuel attendant!
@TideKnotTravellers Жыл бұрын
Britain is particularly tricky with the small roads, it might be the reason we find everywhere manageable! You’d adjust to the left within a few days but it’s confusing when you get back home to switch again 😅

hi guys, thanks for the helpful video , did you ever expeirence no availability or lack of choice when only went to rent car when arrived at the destination?

Hi, we never had any trouble as there seemed to be so many car rental places. We always found lots of options in each city.

We have rented cars in Costa Rica and a few Caribbean Islands. Thankfully Skylar is willing to drive on the other side of the road and on pretty treacherous roads. You've shared some really great tips for hiring a car in any destination ...along with some very specific to Argentina. Skylar also does the video walk around...just in case 😆 Downloading maps has saved us several times!
@TideKnotTravellers Жыл бұрын
We have done some crazy drives that we’d have never managed without the help of offline maps, they’re so good! As Brits we have had to accept that we’ll often have to drive on the other side as it seems most countries drive on the right, great that Skylar is up for the challenge too ☺️

@@TideKnotTravellers offline maps are so worth the time it takes to download for sure! You two sure have been on some crazy drives, but they have taken you to some absolutely incredible destinations.

Hi you two, very helpful video ! For how long did you rent the car and was it easy to pay in cash ? Also can you recommend a car rental in Bariloche ?
@TideKnotTravellers Жыл бұрын
We only rented a car for a day or two in each city as prices are high. Yes it’s easy to pay in cash, everywhere expects and accepts cash in Argentina. We show the hire car place in the first few minutes of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZ2cdauVnpWDZrssi=dmKrZ73zKqZo33XZ they were great. We walked around to half a dozen different car hire places and went back to this one.

Great video thanks. I'm trying to get my brother to do a road trip round Argentina. What's the attitude to Brits like there? I wasn't thinking to driving about flying a Union Jack but still, its a worry.
@TideKnotTravellers11 ай бұрын
We actually felt very welcome all across Argentina, we were a little worried as we were walking through Cordoba and seeing all the 40 years since Isla Malvinas (Faulkand Islands) signs and many statues depicting that time. We thought maybe some might hold a grudge towards Brits but everyone we met seemed welcoming and so friendly. I think the govt narrative is maybe quite different to the people who seem very forward thinking and treat people on an individual basis, at least in our experience.

Hello there, I watched your Argentina and Patagonia videos, and you are amazing, very helpful. Can I book tour with local operators while I am there or I should book before I go. Really appreciate your answer.
@TideKnotTravellers Жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you so much. Would recommend to book when you’re there as there are so many in the main square plus you can negotiate and pay in cash to save some money. Hope you have a great trip!

did the rate you quoted include insurance? Would you drive or can you drive to Tierra del Fuego. I love to drive as well. thanks!
@TideKnotTravellers Жыл бұрын
The rate we quoted was just for the hire, we didn’t take out the extra insurance because we have cover through our travel insurance (also car hire is already so expensive in Argentina) It is possible to drive to TDF however it is not straightforward or very affordable, we looked into it and found flying from Buenos Aires to be more affordable. It is so expensive to hire a car and deliver it back to a different city/region so all of our hire cars in Argentina have been for a day or two and returned to the same place. In an ideal situation we’d love to have bought a van ourselves and driven around for months 🙌🏼 Hope that helps, are you heading there soon?

thanks for the prompt reply! I hope to go there this February. Was hoping to rent a simple camper van.@@TideKnotTravellers

To date we've only ever rented cars in Canada and the US. I don't think I'd be able to drive on the other side of the road - I'd be too nervous. But my husband probably would be fine. The roads there look rather dodgy in areas - but I can see the benefit of driving on your own. I also would be soo impatient haha. Good tip on downloading your maps too.
@TideKnotTravellers Жыл бұрын
You’d be fine in Argentina/South America as they drive on the right too, but yes some of the terrain is pretty nuts 😄
@claudiopiazza3793 Жыл бұрын
They have taken roads where I would not put my car, for those who like adventure go on those roads, and for those who want something quieter there are also asphalt roads.

Where did you rent a car , at the airport seems very expensive!
@everettichiwa3 ай бұрын
Did you have any issues with the rental company? like I watch videos like in Mexico, tourist renting cars and getting scammed by rental companies telling them there are damages on the car, damages that was existed before they acquired the car.

It’s been a little while now but it’s the main Argentina travel group on FB run by a lady called Erin (that should help you find the right one) we’re not in the whatsapp group anymore but you can ask about it in the FB group and someone should send it to you.

Why are you using western union to get cash? you're getting smashed with fees. just get a zero international fee debit card and then use an atm
@TideKnotTravellers15 күн бұрын
We have plenty of international cards with zero fees that we use all around the world. You can’t do that in Argentina due to their economic situation, we did a whole video explaining it.
