I think the hardest part of teaching people who reject Torah is understanding Galatians and in particular Gal 3:23-25. It says that the guardian or tutor, being the Law, is no longer needed now that the Teacher (Yeshua) has arrived. However, Gal 2:16 and 3:12 clearly identify the topic as justification and we do not claim that anyone is justified by obedience.

This is TRUTH teaching … thank you for saying it so gently… it’s a hard teaching for the generations that we’re taught incorrectly about the Law or Torah.. Jesus was perfect with no sin .. so His commandments given to Moses He followed in His time on earth … sin is to be torah-less … I am a new Christian and we are now seeing this .. scales on the eyes have been removed about this .. grace does not let you “off the hook “ to the commandments …there is a through line of light all THE WAY through our Holy Bible to revelation 22:14 Obey God’s commands and you will be blessed .. Jesus is the fulfillment! Grafted is so fresh!!

No, this is what the Church wants you to believe because they have no way to get rid of the 613 Hebrew laws. Jesus was a Jew and why would he want to abolish the Hebrew laws? Christianity could not have began without getting rid of Jewish laws and beliefs.

I love the phrase, "Keep reading." As a journalist and historian I always approach the Bible with the same principles of research: 1. Establish what we know from previous statements (testimonies, witness reports, etc.) Look for similar statements and this becomes your core evidence. 2. Place the evidence in context--there are four contexts: Historical, cultural, immediate (the chapter or book of Scripture), and whole (the Scripture from Genesis to Revelation.) The conclusion is that the evidence must fit the context. This is what you have done here. I appreciate your exposition.

So, my understanding is that, yes, Jesus fulfilled the Law, and it is now written on our hearts, so that, if we are in Christ and staying close to Him, we don't have to strive to keep the Law, it's our natural bent now. Of course, yes, we're still human and that can get in the way, but when we are in close communion with Him, we don't need to "work" to do the right things, it's just who we are.

It’s important to identify the law being spoken of is that of the ten commandments- the first four speak to man’s relationship with God and the remaining 6, man’s relationship with each other. This is why Jesus summed them up with 1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and soul and strength and 2. Love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus was not speaking of the rules that were given specifically to the Jewish people for daily living and sacrifice.

Yeah but the question remains, and I think this is what most Christians are worried about at some point, what happens when you break the law, and what's the penalty. Basically, what's the penal code before Jesus and after Jesus. Because before Jesus they had a system of offerings and sacrifices, but Jesus became that Lamb that atones for the sins of all who believe He is the Son of God, and that's what most Jews did not understand or accept, even to this day. Thank you Lord!

The word "πληρῶσαι" is a Greek verb, and it comes from the verb "πληρόω" (plēróo), which means "to fill," "to complete," or "to fulfill." In the context of the aorist tense, "πληρῶσαι" indicates a completed action in the past related to filling or fulfilling something. It can imply the completion of a task, the fulfillment of a requirement, or the accomplishment of a goal. It is done.

Hey, Tom and Sam, I'm having a hard time grasping what you're trying to say. The way I understand what Jesus meant by saying He came to fulfill the law is that He's the only Person Who could follow and obey all 613 laws of Moses perfectly because we can't. Am I off with my understanding? If so, then please clarify. BTW, I'm a lot like Matthew in The Chosen. He doesn't understand metaphors, and I don't either. I have Asperger's. Can you simplify for me, as you might for Matthew? And one more thing....I'm a 65-year-old lady. Thank you, guys! 😊🙃🤗

@craiglees56312 жыл бұрын
Not sure about 613 laws... This is just a tradition and many official counts come up with different amounts. Either way, there were laws that Jesus did not keep because they were not for him, eg. laws for women, farmers, priests, etc. He did keep/gaurd all the laws for hebrew men, just like John "the baptist", etc. This is because in Exodus we are told that the law is NOT to difficult. Hope that makes sense... May The Most High gaurd you and keep you as you continue on this journey with Him, keeping your eyes on Jesus

Hi Kathie, Craig is right in saying that not every law was for every person. Only a small fraction would apply to you or me! But they all can be summed up as “love God and love your neighbor.” Craig is also right in saying that God himself tells us that his commands “aren’t too hard” and “you can do it.” (The only time in scripture you will see “you can do it” is when God is talking about his law! Growing up in the church, I was always taught it was all too hard, too crazy, or too weird. Our Father himself says it’s not too hard so who should we believe? A loving Father wouldn’t give us crazy or weird laws - they were and are all for the benefit of his set apart people :)

@@rootedinyeshua Okay, Lyndsie, I get what you're saying. 😊👍 But I still don't understand what did Jesus mean when He said He came to fulfill the law. It's as clear as mud to me. 🤔🤷♀️
@craiglees56312 жыл бұрын
@@kathierouse5306 hi. I realy enjoyed your comment, "clear as mud"😆😂 gave me a good smile this morning. I think there is a lot on this journey that has muddied the waters and we spend our days learning and allowing God's spirit to lead us and clear up the mess. For me personally I am spending much time, unlearning alot of that religion has taught me through my life and "muddied the waters for me". In Jeremiah there is a prophesy about how the gentiles have inherited lies and now God will begin ton"open our eyes to His ways. Going back to the term "fulfilling the law". this term and the term "destrying the law" were common terms used by Rabbais when the discussed and debated the scriptures trying to interpret. one would say you are "fullfilling" the law when you gaurded and interpreted to do the commands. and then they would say that you are "destroying" the law when you taught that the law was not vaild for practice. It would seem that Jesus was fullfilling the law by practicing it properly and teaching His disciples to also gaurd amd and practice it. the Greek word in the passage is "Pleroo" which used in a few other places in the "New Testament". it means to make full, and to abound. it never is explained as to be come not valid for practice, but quite the opostite. sorry to blab so long. hope my rambling is of some help. Have a blessed day

He didn’t come to abolish or replace the law. He fulfilled it in two ways: first in the way that he lived his life fully human while fully God. As flesh and blood he lived without sin fulfilling the law in that way. And the other way he fulfilled it was in all that he suffered for us unto death paying the penalty for our sins. There could be no forgiveness of sin without shedding blood. And that sealed a new covenant whereby believing in him and accepting that gift we obtain forgiveness of our sins and he shares his righteousness with us. We are still accountable to the law but because of him we can be forgiven and redeemed.

By his wounds you have been healed. 25For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. Isaiah 53: 3He was despised and rejectedb by men, a man of sorrowsc and acquainted withd grief;e and as one from whom men hide their facesf he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. 6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned-every one-to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. 8By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people? 9And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. 10Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities. 12Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.

May I add that the word "LOVE" is typically an action word throughout the Bible. It is not a feeling as it is in English. It is not a warm, fuzzy feeling, it means to, DO SOMETHING. It means, DO THOSE THINGS that reflect God's character, which is spelled out in His laws, in His Torah.

AMEN... The Law is good... that it reveals sin... but thats all it can do... The law was added to prepare God's people of the coming Messiah.... when the full weight of sin and death is upon us... we seek a saviour and we turn to Christ... we see the cost... we see the full weight of his Grace... and it is this Grace that saves us from our sin... for it is the goodness of God that leads a man into repentance and into Trusting Christ... which ultimately leads to loving worship which GLORIFIES GOD and gives honour to his Name which the enemy of God HATES he hates God being praised... he wants us to be miserable and to curse God (for me, this is what brings the most suffering here on earth, the lack of worship to God, the lack of Praise, the lack of words speaking of His Glory of his Goodness. all the talk is of vain things... it can be so cold and lifeless... the world is void of hope... Man shall not leave by bread alone!) the enemy is very very cunning... even once saved and grafted into The Vine... his goal is to make you slip... to sin and feel ashamed and try to earn Gods grace again... to try to earn Gods favour by making amends... which will lead to frustration... and ultimately distance between you and God... the further away from Christ you are, you will wither... and once again God will not be receiving any thanksgiving... May our sin lead us not to despair but to the Throne of Grace where we SHALL be forgiven ALL our sins and find comfort in his presence we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.... if we Sin (God forbid) he will use it for our Good, to discipline and to reveal to us the exceeding riches of his grace towards us ^ God's grace to His people is continuous and is never exhausted. and it is HUMBLING Besides obviously Christ, another time that I have experienced such GRACE... was when I was on a drug comedown and my nephew & niece were over my house... they were climbing all over me while I was laying on the floor DEAD INSIDE... they wouldn't stop showering me with affection and love, even though I gave them nothing.. they just kept climbing all over me, they clung to me... they were relentless, eventually that day their love BROKE ME... I saw how beautiful they were, so innocent, kind and gracious towards me... an undeserving ugly selfish person who gave them nothing back... I ran to the bathroom, shut the door and wept out to God God has already given us His Word ... Jesus... who is the YES AND AMEN to all of his Promises IT MEANS GOD IS FOR YOU... NOT AGAINST YOU “Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends." Don't let Sin separate you from God... and don't let the guilt of Sin separate you from God... LET NOTHING SEPERATE YOU FROM THE LOVE OF GOD... FOR NOTHING DOES! .... Just come to him, submit and let the potter be the potter... and you be the Clay. He will make all things new

As applied to the laws, murder: if you hate in your heart; murder is the fulfillment of that hate. IF you look at a woman (or man) with lust; then you have committed adultery... READ Matt 15:10-20

As an ex Muslim believer, who came to know Christ BY GRACE ALONE, almost like Paul, who speaks 7 languages and who read the Scriptures multiple times in several Semitic languages, this is what I would say: if Jesus came to abolish the Law of YHWY, then won’t that be almost like a Coup d’ Etat? Basically, you abolish what you DO NOT AGREE WITH. Jesus came to AVODAH the FATHER (serve, work and worship ABBA FATHER), which is what Adam was supposed to do. The Hebrew word “avodah,” is the same word used for both work, service and worship of YHWY in the original text of the Bible. This is not an accident…the true obligation if a servant (believer) is not merely to worship in words, but to do the difficult work of service as onto the LORD and do onto others as to ourselves: AVODAH. This is the same word used for submission ONTO ONE ANOTHER, the brethren, man to Christ and wife to husband. ❤❤❤ Just like the beginning, we as human beings (Ben Adam) we try to find our “own relative true” in everything by our own understanding instead of accepting the absolute TRUTH OF GOD, which Christ came to model and fulfill ( lekayem in Hebrew) in the flesh.

If the civil and ceremonial laws of the covenant are still to be followed, doesn't that mean we still have to do things like animal sacrifice? It says in Leviticus Chapter 15 that when women are free of their affliction of menustration, we are to wait 7 days and only then are we purified. And on the 8th day we are to bring a Pigeon and Turtledove to a Priest as sacrifice to atone to God for our unclean flow. This is just one example.

There are many in the Zionist Christian, Messianic, Hebrew Roots, and Dual Covenant theologies who believe that the Law of Moses is still binding in part or in whole for the believer and unbeliever alike. They usually quote from some modern versions of the Bible including the NIV, NASB, ESV, GNB, ASV, and TLV etc. which mistranslate the Scripture verse KJV Mat 5:17 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.” The word “destroy” in the KJV is changed to “abolish” or “do away with” in these and other modern versions of the Bible. Then these new renderings are misinterpreted to mean that Christ did not abolish or do away with the Law; but fulfilled it. This is then extrapolated to imply that both the believer and unbeliever are still under the Law to some degree. If that’s not bad enough, some of these Judaizers are creating their own versions of the Bible such as the TLV to reflect their views. Watch out, some of the biggest deceivers are the Messianics (those who think they are Jews) and Zionist Christians (Jew want-a-bees) Tit 1:10. These Scripture wresters or twisters fail to utilize proper semantics when they make this change in there derivative Bibles. Seems like they should first get the Godhead NOT Trinity (beam) straight before they try to remove the (mote) from someone else’s eyes Mat 7:3-5. Hey listen, the Jew and Muslim believe in ONE God not THREE (See paper Godhead-Trinity). The Greek word translated as "destroy" in Mat 5:17 is different from the word for "abolished" used in Eph 2:15. The word “destroy” means to totally obliterate the law. While the word "abolished" literally means to "loose", "deliver from”, “put away”, “cease”, “make void” but does not literally mean to totally destroy the law. If the law were totally obliterated or destroyed, then what will “God judge” the unbelieving world by Rom 3:6? No, Christ did not come to totally destroy or obliterate the law; He came to abolish and put an end to the law for the believer Rom 10:4. The law will still be in effect for those who choose to remain under the curse of the Law Gal 3:10 Rom 3:19. The Law was not made for the righteous but for the ungodly to begin with 1Ti 1:9. Whatsoever things the Law says it says to “them who are under the law:” Rom 3:19. But now the righteousness of God WITHOUT the law is manifest to the believer Rom 3:21. Therefore man is justified by faith WITHOUT the law Rom 3:28. For those who are ruled by grace, the law has none effect Rom 4:14. The New Testament Scriptures have made it plain and clear that, for the believer, the Law was done away with 2Co 3:14, ended Rom 10:4, abolished Eph 2:15, changed Heb 7:11-12, blotted out Col 2:14, and nailed to the cross Col 2:14. If the modern Bibles say that Jesus did NOT “abolish” the Law in Mat 5:17, then what do you do with the verse that says he DID “abolish” the Law in Eph 2:15. Some Messianics even reverse the order of “fulfill” in the verse to say that Jesus did not abolish the Law but “filled it full”. Now, who is known for reversing Scripture? One of the chief Messianic teachers on KZbin quoted from the RSV version because he liked how it changed the words “establish” the law to “uphold” the law KJV Rom 3:31 RSV Rom 3:31. Big difference in meaning here. So, Paul destroyed it but must still UPHOLD it. The Book of Romans is one of the most misinterpreted books in Scripture. I guess Peter was right when he warned the “unlearned” about misinterpreting some of the writings of Paul 2Pe 3:16. Paul was battling this heresy in the Galatian Church even in his day. They seem to think that Jesus did not come to destroy the Law, so Paul finished the job. Paul actually says that he had “destroyed” the Law and if he tried to rebuild it he would be a transgressor because he is dead to the Law Gal 2:18-19. Paul is saying this because the Christian is now dead in Christ Rom 6:4 Col 2:20 Col 3:3.

Love in the beginning (and faith in the beginning) is the easy part: Forgiveness--especially in the face of great evil--is the hard part (think forgiveness extended to those who have murdered a family member or forgiveness to assassins by the person who is the target of their bullet)...forgiveness to those who have stolen, assaulted, raped or murdered you or yours personally...forgiveness of those who tried to take all--and now must live with that (and may not care or live by any moral code)...why? why must we do this? because we have all fallen short of God's perfection--just in living, we have all done some abomination--and maybe never even known what we have done to others--maybe even half way around the globe (who makes your clothes? a poor person in Bangladesh? who picks the bananas that you eat?)...and we may not even be able to help ourselves--in trying to survive, we will hurt others...it is inevitable...so, we must forgive others, in order to obtain forgiveness from God and in order to forgive ourselves...that is never an easy task==Never==for anyone...it is the hardest part of Jesus message...and we all must struggle through and reach our own path back to God (found only through forgiveness to any and all who have wronged us)...dts/usa

Hey Grafted Family, I have a question. Of course it is clear that Jesus did not abolish the law. He fulfilled it. You pointed out that we are to love the Lord and others as the two commandments that Jesus gave. These are to fulfill the law and the prophets. But are with the ceremonial laws and the other moral laws? Like eating laws and so forth? Because I have heard that the vision of Peter of all unclean animals did not mean that we can now eat everything we want… or how is it?
@rootedinyeshua2 жыл бұрын
These are great questions. Peter himself says the vision is not about food - it’s about people. So definitely take that into consideration when you’re understanding scripture. It’s also interesting how Peter talks about “unclean or common” and that is something worth looking into to understand more about what Peter was saying.

Yes the keeping of the Law of Moses (which was specifically for the nation of Israel) is abolished, completed, fulfilled. When there is a change in the 'priesthood' there is a change in the Law! Gods Law is Eternal but the 'keeping' of the Law is done as Christ fulfilled it on behalf of ALL those who couldn't which is basically the human race! The Law was a schoolmaster which pointed to Christ!

I wish you would have gone further into this study to include the truth about the 4th commandment--Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work, but the SEVENTH day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God; in it, thou shalt not do any work...." Exodus 20:8-11. In the book of Hebrews, Paul writes in the 4th chapter, about the Sabbath and whether or not it had been changed. "For if Jesus had given them rest, then would He not afterwards have spoken of another day? There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God." (Hebrews 4:8, 9, KJV) (Note: punctuation did not exist in printed form until after the invention of the Gutenberg press. Early Bible scribes did not use spacing between words, nor punctuation, nor indentations between paragraphs, which has led to much confusion regarding divisions of chapters and verses, as well as misinterpretations.) Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath and when He rebuked the Pharisees concerning healings on Sabbath or plucking grain, He was pointing out the legalism of their oral traditions and hypocrisies concerning Sabbath, as they had ignored the Spirit of Sabbath and its true intention. He was in no way changing the Sabbath. By resting on the seventh day at Creation, God was also pointing to the Second Coming when His faithful people would be resting from the persecution of the world in Heaven. He was showing in the fourth commandment that He is the Creator and Sovereign over all of Heaven and Earth and the Seas. It was His Sovereign seal, not unlike that of the British monarchs, whose seal contained their name, title and dominion. So the Sabbath contains God's name, His title as Creator, and His dominion over all creation. Satan on the other hand has always desired to sit on the throne in place of Christ, and instituted worship on the first day in Babel, when Nimrod started his own religion and built his famous Tower. This is the earliest settlement of Babylon, and the Apostles used the code name: "Babylon" to refer to Rome (1 Peter 5:13), which in their day was merely a civil government, but later in the 4th century under Constantine became both a civil AND religious power when the ruling emperor relinquished all authority to the early Catholic church under Pope Gregory I. Revelation also refers to the Papacy (not the individual believers, but the papal power) as Babylon and begs His people to come out of her. (Revelation 18:1-4). John the apostle was not ignorant as to who Babylon referred to. I was raised Catholic and there are many faithful Catholics in that denomination who will be in Heaven, of this I have no doubt. But I was kicked out of Madonna Academy when I was 14 years old and subsequently my neighborhood Catholic church, for calling them out on changing the Sabbath to Sunday as a sign of their authority over the Scriptures and their substitute (vicar) for Christ on earth. I have books of their own publications as proof of this on my bookshelf as I write this. I have also written a small book about my testimony of discovering the seventh day Sabbath in the Catholic church as a teen studying the catechism for my Confirmation. I spent seven years searching every religion for one that kept Sabbath, and ironically I thought I knew everything I needed to know about Judaism because I had many Jewish friends, and thought since they didn't accept Jesus as Messiah, it was not for me. I didn't know they kept Sabbath nor were there Jews who had accepted Jesus as Messiah. (But then this was North Miami Beach where Jews only kept Passover and Hannukah, much like Catholics who only kept Easter and Christmas.) Anyway, if you would like to read my in-depth testimony, I offer a free digital copy of it, if you will provide an email address to send it to (the file is 94 pages). It is available on Amazon, but I do not want money for things God has given me to share.

So if not a jot or tittle has passed from the law, then we should still be circumcising, offering sacrifices, going to the temple to worship, not eating pork, etc? These are more than jots and tittles and they can't pass away until heaven and earth pass away. I think you miss the point in v18.
