18 years ago, I was working at a a mexican restaurant. The general manager was a stone-cold 50 year old fox. She was eating her dinner one night when I asked her why it was just meat and vegetables. She said she had type-2 diabetes. I, not knowing anything, said "Well why not just take insulin?" She said she used to take insulin but it just made her sick and the insulin was only to allow her to eat carbs and sugar. So she reasoned if she didn't eat carbs or sugar, she just didn't need insulin. She said she hadn't taken insulin for years and she looked AMAZING! Every time I follow her advice, I lose weight easily and feel immediately better.

@David L you don’t have to be lost at sea - there are a few ways to deduce with less bewilderment. 1) Look to your heritage(s). Who were the healthiest people from your region of origin and what did they eat? 2) Was there a time when you traveled and felt great on the local cuisine? Remember the proportions and types of foods you had there. 3) Look to the commonalities of “fad” diets which people claim great success from. Almost all of them exclude or greatly reduce grains and processed carbohydrates. 4) Take doctors’ nutrition advice with a heaping of salt, unless they specialize in the subject. Especially if they themselves do not look healthy.

My mom would say well you’re a woman you’re going through hormonal changes and things like that as I got older. And that’s why. I changed my diet a couple weeks ago to lowlow-carb high-protein. And I lost about 8 1/2 pounds. Normally my body hold onto fat no matter what I do. Even the medicine they prescribed her weight loss didn’t work. And then about a week ago one of our pets died, and I ended up binging on foods. I normally would eat. And put almost all the weight back on. And since jumping back on the new diet, I dropped it all back to where I was at. And I have so much more energy. My skin looks better. And my mentality feels better.

I believe everyone needs to find the food that works for them. For me, the lion diet (ruminant nose to tail, salt and water) was how I healed myself. Organ meats have more vitamins, nutrients and minerals than vegetables. I lost 75 pounds over a year and gained 50% strength in one month. I had leaky gut from vegetables and grains and I have a genetic mutation of the MTHFR gene, as does about 40% of the population. This means that I can not digest folic acid which is what the food industry sprays on grain to "fortify" or "enrich" grains. They are literally spraying poison for 40% of the population on grain products. I am reintroducing vegetables but mostly cruciferous and allium ones. I am raising my own vegetables and meat now. It is interesting to see how my body reacts to the foods I use to eat all the time, especially the processed ones. It is scary!

Lost the weight without the constant hunger shakes. Improved my gut health. Got rid of constipation. Fixed my degenerative bone disease in my right foot. Lowered blood pressure from 140/90 to 110/ 75. My body temp in the morning was 94 when low fat. It has slowly risen to 98.6. Got rid of depression. I also come from a family full of diabetics. Dad by 34. Grandmother by 40. It is one of the reasons I starved myself on the low calorie semi vegan death diet for so long, despite the lack of results. I did not understand it was all lies. Even though my fat and salt intake was dangerously high, my blood pressure was around 100/50 maybe varying by 5 either way and my bpm was around 60 even though I have a family history of high blood pressure and heart disease. Although the low blood pressure and all that makes me very light headed and sometimes pass out, it's the complete opposite of what it should be and since stopping that job and my diet mostly consisting of fruit, chicken and breads but also eating significantly less, my weight and blood pressure has gone up.

I'm a massive fan of your videos, but it seems like there was more weight placed on this one case of a 71 year man than there needed to be, ignoring the fact that this case sounds like a scientific anomaly, despite the counter evidence also presented in your video. I also didn't feel comfortable with the fact that the words of Dr. Paul Mason who's expertises appear to be more in the realms of dietary nutrition than cardiology seem to taken so strongly. I would love to have seen the views and opinions of other medical experts such as cardiologists who may have something to say agains/for the claims Ancel Keys' research. Peace.

There is the interview with Dr. Ken Berry (general physician) and the interview with Ivor Cummins, who, while not a Dr., did do a talk for the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation on the root causes of heart disease. Definitely, anecdotes don't really work when assessing "general nutrition guidelines". As he said himself, his mother can't process beta carotene as much as the average person. Obviously one man's bowel pain cure won't have the same effect on another person. Paul Mason also made pretty bold claims in the interview, the video could've used more references to studies in order to back him up, as I found myself googling most of his claims to verify if they were really true.

I follow a network of like minded physicians on Twitter and when this case was shared it was noteworthy simply because the patient's regular doc saw for how the patient's test results showed a complete reversal of serious diseases. Yet the recommendation was to go back to eating carbohydrates. There is accumulating evidence that a strict carnivore diet is consistently able to put several autoimmune diseases in full remission, and strongly mitigate the symptoms of other types of autoimmunity. Check out the work of a medical group out of Hungary (Paleomedicina, they may have a new name) using their Paleo Ketogenic Diet (clinical carnivore & paleo extension) to put autoimmune diseases in remission. They meticulously test patients for gut permeability. Dr. Sophia Clemens has been interviewed as their spokesperson.
