I was there live in New Orleans and it was definitely such an amazing PPV. I am unbelievably lucky that my first two live shows ever were Wrestlemania 30 and NXT Takeover: New Orleans.

Charlotte and Asuka was a good match but was the beginning of Asukas burial so that puts it down. Fatal 4 way US match was a bathroom break and was just to get Randy on the show. An absolute waste of everyone’s time. Mixed tag match was pretty good, I liked HHH and Stephs entrance. Triple threat tag match was short and could’ve been on the pre show or scrapped entirely. Undertaker coming back for a 2 minute match was another waste of time. Bryan coming back was cool but Shane shouldn’t be wrestling in 2018. The raw womens title match was one of the worst matches I’ve ever seen. Why did this show have so many damn matches? Aj and Shinsuke was so overhyped and was average at best. A fucking 5 year old kid had a match after this, is there really anything else to be said? Lmao embarrassing. And the main event comes around, the show has been going for 8 hours at this point and the crowd couldn’t give a shit about what any of them were doing and it was once again like I’ve said a bunch of times already, a waste of time. This was a long bloated show that had a few good things going for it. This show is a 6/10 at best, and takeover New Orleans is a perfect show and skullfucks the shit out of this show. 30 is better too.

Can we just say how good this years card looks. It’s two nights and we have at least 4 absolutely outstanding matches (some maybe MOTY worthy) Walter vs Ciampa The Cruiserweight Ladder Match O’Riley vs Cole (my favourite storyline in wrestling right now) Balour vs Kross Even the undercard looks amazing with the Women’s Tag Titles, KUSHIDA vs Dunn and whoever Gargano faces (based off his work rate alone) all promising to be top notch matches. This is the most excited I’ve been for an NXT Takeover since NXT Takeover: New York

A suggestion due to the recent view ships lows could be to branch out and do a "Monthly twitch highlights/clips" (big streamers get millions of views on youtube for some of them), plus this also put more eyes on your twitch stream, hopefully ramping up your viewership for that.

This was the first Takeover I ever saw and it was AMAZING! I only saw the show and matches like Gargano vs Ciampa and Black vs Almas made it easy to root for Black and Gargano. The ladder match is my favourite ladder match with Ricochet looking amazing as I saw him for the first time, Strong turned on Dunne, Black won the NXT Title and Gargano getting the satisfying win in a match which made it easy for me to root for Gargano and loath Ciampa. Amazing show! NXT Takeover New Orleans is the GREATEST Takeover of all time!

Like number 500 Back when weekly NXT was on the network and the episodes were around 50-55ish minutes, you could easily watch it every week and skip the parts like entrances to get to the matches and promos. I religiously watched it. It has definitely fallen off since those days. The decline started prior to AEW though and expanding to 2 hours hasn't helped much. The Takeovers used to blow away whatever the PPV was the following day for the main roster. I really miss those days. The earlier callbacks in that main event pushed it from an amazing match to absolute legendary status. It really was the perfect combination of everything needed to tell a great story during the match. I think an honourable mention should also go to the crowd on the night. Great video!

I don’t have enough words for how much I love this show, man. I regularly go back and watch this show and it still amazes me that there isn’t a single low point. The thing on the show that I care about the least is the NXT title match, and that’s still a MOTN contender on at least half of the other TakeOver’s. The ladder match is one of the best I’ve ever seen, the main event is still my favorite part of NXT’s biggest feud, the women’s match made me appreciate Shayna Baszler so much to the point where she’s my second favorite women’s wrestler, and the turn at the end of the tag match turned a tournament finals that I thought I was gonna hate into one of my favorite moments in NXT history. If I could only watch one event for the rest of my life, I’d choose this one in a heartbeat.

The build to that event is what made me decide that this would be the year I would finally go to WrestleMania. It was peak NXT. Everyone I ran into during the weekend, that's what we talked about: predictions for TakeOver, our reactions to TakeOver. Legacy - I think it changed things. For wrestling fans it overshadowed 'Mania. All eyes were on NXT performers and I think that led to changes in how WWE the company started to look at things (generally for the worse). But, for everyone who watched it live or on PPV/the network - it's on that wrestling Mt. Rushmore (or international equivalent).

I’d say the biggest people to succeed post Takeover New Orleans were the Undisputed Era, Ciampa and Gargano (both within the span of a year would become NXT Champions and Cole would also become the longest reigning NXT Champion), whilst Cole hadn’t really done anything significant since honestly NXT Takeover: XXX this feud with O’Riley has really brought back the best Adam Cole and it has been my favourite feud in wrestling. I’d say the biggest person who has dropped since then is Ciampa. Whilst I’m excited for the match with Walter more so then most WrestleMaina matches he hasn’t had a blow away feud since the stuff with Gargano, he has a feud with Kross which was fine and then he had nothing to do until Thatcher which was good. Gargano has been a fantastic heel but it feels like a step down to where he once was as NXT’s top baby face.

I think the move to TV had more of an effect on NXT than the move to two hours, but it’s hard to say because they happened at the same time. I think the weekly show being two hours was much needed, the roster had gotten so big by that point that a lot of talent was just floundering on the house show circuit while the same dozen or so people got featured every week. What really hurt NXT was going from a wrestling show to a TV show, and you know both Vince and the USA Network mandated a presentation closer to the main roster’s.

Loved it but you can’t convince me that it’s better than New York, Gargano vs Cole is the best match in NXT history, Riddle vs Dream is incredible, Dunne vs Walter is brutal, the fatal 4 way is good, and the send off for Black and Ricochet is so awesome both emotionally and with the insane spots

In my opinion the first TakeOver: Brooklyn New York is the greatest NXT Takeover of all time. And I’m not being biased cuz that’s my hometown but that was the show that made everyone pay attention to NXT. It showed that WWEs “minor leagues” was better than their major league. And they did it every single takeover but it started with this one.
