I think the Raptor resale would hold up better. Next Ford will put the Limited interior in the Raptor and make a $200 K "Limited Raptor". ;O)

I have a 150 2017 Platinum in that same color. I’m in my 50’s now. I love the look of the Raptor. When I was younger I would have been all over that. Now I’m a guy whose had two back surgeries, has two blown knees, and had my shoulder rebuilt. Needless to say. I much appreciate the soft luxurious ride of my platinum and absolutely love the heated and massaging seats & heated steering wheel. Plus it’s a 5.0 and goes like a bullet and sounds great without being loud and obnoxious! I’m never going off road and wouldn’t want to risk damaging such an expensive vehicle. But love it for long rides up to Maine and back.

Same here. Buying an expensive off road truck that never sees dirt is a waste of money. I have an 18 Platinum and LOVE it! If I want Raptor motor power, for around $1200, I can upgrade the fuel system and get 454 HP at the wheels on E85.

Between the two trucks in question, I’d go with the Raptor. Nathan nailed it when he said the Raptor is a toy. The limited is chrome bling truck that’ll lose its “pizazz” after a year or so. Personally I’d go with an XLT with a 5.0.

Why's everyone so concerned about the resale?? If you have the money to buy one or the other then buy what you like most, and if you wanna do that much off-roading with the raptor then it will loose more value anyways, same with the limited.. Both truck's are badass but I personally like the sport trim more and that's why I bought a 2018 lariat with the appearance package fully loaded 502 and comes with the 5.0 coyote engine that doesn't sound like a rice burner .... not saying the EcoBoost is a bad engine, just not my preference for a pickup truck.

For years I've wanted a Raptor; there's no cooler truck in the world. Three days ago, I bought a used 2019 Limited and I couldn't be happier. That bad boy is fast too! When I think about it, I know that I would rarely use all the off road features that come with the Raptor. I would still love to have one, however, the classiness of the Limited sold me as soon as I looked through it and drove it. Everyone who knows me would say I belong in the Limited more than a Raptor. I traded my 2016 Volvo XC90 for it, which was another classy vehicle.

As the proud owner of a 2019 Limited for 2 days now of course I’m going to say Limited! I have wanted for a Raptor for many years now but when given the chance to actually own one I chose The Limited. Sure, the Raptor is an incredible truck with Real Off-Road Cred! But I live in the suburbs and drive On-Road. I had a 2016 XLT FX4 and in 3 years never got to take it off road. Where it went was up and down the highway, and on the best weekends it towed a Competition BBQ Trailer for the team I am a part of. Most of the time it was just a daily driver for a LONG commute. So, when it came down to it, I chose the comfort and luxury of The Limited. The amenities coupled with the power and performance made it an easy choice. The BBQ team will definitely appreciate the posh surroundings before and after a weekend of roughing it in the name of BBQ Glory, and I will enjoy it every single day I spend 2-3 hours a day commuting to and from the job I hold to pay for the thrill of owning it...

When I see a raptor, I think of awesome capabilities and cool features. I also think it is an amazingly beautiful truck. However, maybe because I see them often, I never think of them as being expensive, even when I know they are. When I see a limited, it's rare. If I see one, I think of high end refined luxury that only the elite would spend their money on, just because they can, like they are saying they are the top of the food chain. But If one passes me on the opposite lane, I'll look at it for a while until it passes, but I don't look in my rear view mirror like I would with a raptor.

What’s funny is I’m in the middle of trying to figure out which truck I should buy been a long time GM owner and just tired of the non Upgraded interior want the bells and whistles of a twin panel roof and adaptive cruise control! Are the main ones so I’m looking at the limited and raptor and maybe even a f-250 because all three are ranging from 60k-65k in central Texas as of 01-12-2020. I agree, in that you will notice the Raptor, point blank as being different. You really do have to look for the limited truck as being different than a Lariat trimmed out in fashion. Me particularly, chose the RAM limited due to the use of materials in cabin as being premium. I don't care what others think but wanted a good quality feel in my truck that nearly mirrors the saddleback leather cases I use in my business. I drove the limited Ford and it hands down failed against RAM. The Raptor is a different truck and I would buy that in a second just because of what it is. It's cool as hell and nothing can touch it.

From someone who has owned 3 Platinum F150’s and 1 2014 Raptor I can tell you that there is nothing in the World like owning a Raptor. Since I bought the Raptor to make it possible to travel to off road adventure places like Moab, UT and not having to own both a Jeep and a pickup it made the Raptor a fantastic investment decision! It also had the best resale of any vehicle that I have ever owned period! The only thing it wouldn’t do is go thru some tunnel car washes because of the wide tires and width and travel down narrow trails because it’s simply too wide! Otherwise it was the best riding truck to take on long road trips as long as you didn’t care about gas Mileage . Also if you are a 6 time Super Bowl Champion like Tom Brady , and can afford and own dozens of cars, but you choose the Raptor as your as your favorite daily driver, that says a lot!

I love the Raptor. Have since the first gen. Would love to have one. But I have a ‘16 King Ranch FX4 and can only fit through the garage door at my house with the mirrors folded- and parking in the garage is a must for me (hail and tailgate thieves). A Raptor won’t fit. So I’m interested in, when I trade in in 2020, a Limited. But those 22s w/ Pirellis are a turnoff for me- I like at least a semi-all terrain tire like the Wranglers. I don’t off-road, really, and wouldn’t use a Raptor as intended, but I do occasionally run on dirt roads or do some softroading.

There are people who like strips instead of dunes, for those the Limited is the choice. Frankly though, you can get the same luxury in a Platinum for a lot less money, a higher payload for towing, smaller wheels for better overall handling and load, and for $1200 upgrade the fuel system to use either Premium, or got all out on E85 and get 454 HP at the wheels, and still be $10-12K or more under the price of the Limited. Before Ford dropped the 3.5 HO into the Limited all you got above the Platinum were some badges and softer leather along with huge monkey wheels.

I honestly think he was right. No matter what other truck someone else is guy, the Raptor is going to turn heads because they instantly know what it is. It visually looks different from the other F150s. This limited F150 does look good but driving it down the road, it'll be hard to tell the difference from another F150. Also, the prestige from just having a Raptor itself is nice. People want to be around the Raptor guy. Also the stories you can tell about what you did with the Raptor are also fun to tell or listen to. The other thing is the resale value of the Raptor. It will hold its value more over the years and if they didn't do things like jumping it, it depreciates slowly. Now if they make a limited Raptor...

4wd trucks tow less than their rwd counterparts, and lots of people tow with their trucks (for work or recreation), so climbing stuff is NOT always the priority among truck people. also, if it has decent tires, clearance, skid plates, locking rear dif, max trax, etc, a RWD truck (pre-runner style) can go places normal people would go off-road who aren't looking for things to climb over just to see if they can do it. if i really wanted to go off road in a truck, i would just get a power wagon or gladiator, depending on where i was going. otherwise, it's the on-road experience and capability that matters.

I love these argument segments, what a nice way to compare trucks, fun to watch. I still say the fastest Ford is a base XL trim regular cab with 3:73 gears with the 10 speed with the 3.5EB at elevation in Boulder Colorado. But the 5.0 V8 would beat it a sea level. The 2wd would likely spin too much so you would need the 4x4 version to hook up but its lighter weight would beat the heavier Limited F150 which is stuck with 3:55 gears at best or the 3:31's. I agree with Nathan, the only truck that stands out that is worth spending money on for vanity is the Raptor. Any high end truck looks the same as its counter part base trim models. I will be buying the Rivian R1T. You guys really should run a Tesla Model X up the Gauntlet pulling 5000Lbs to prove whether or not these battery trucks have a chance or not, pulling loads under extreme conditions to see what flaws may come up and get ahead of the game on other journalists. My guess is you gain on the downhill with 0 brake applications and it pulls like a beast at the lowest cost per mile for energy use.

The XLT FX2 & FX4 package should be available with the short wheelbase Raptor frame and engine. Shorter overall length to fit in a garage. Lighter for speed. More nimble.

Love this duo! Both have their purpose, both are good trucks. You need to know what you want before you buy - speed and off road capability OR luxury and speed with better towing. Good job guys!

I own a 2019 Limited. Identical to this one actually. To all saying who would want one of these over a Raptor.. I'm 52 my trucks tuned, and is a sleeper among the F150s. Pull up on me and I'll show ya..

Hi TFL here is the New Zealand point off view if you go off road over here you will wreck your truck mud holes trees deep dark valleys all on tracks that are not wide enough to fit a Raptor so if you spend $70k on a Raptor to go off roading you better spend $150k on a bulldozer to make the tracks wide enough plus the repair bill on the Raptor after it gets bashed by the bush. So if you by the Limited you have a super nice truck for 95% of your life and then with the money saved on the the bulldozer you can buy a 70 Series Toyota Landcruiser with every option slash aftermarket extra you could dream of and go off roading till your hearts content. So Limited all the way From down here in New Zealand

If the raptor wasn't so wide, the raptor, but being it is, the Limited/Platinum would be my choice between the two. My question is why my XLT Fx4 payload is 1780 #s which is significantly more than both mentioned? What'd I miss?

I can’t even fathom comparing the two as the are as different as they get. One is a total city truck one is not. One is supposed to get dirty one is not. Since both payloads are virtually identical and towing capabilities are fairly close for me it’s a no brainer. Raptor by a long shot. Nathan you were so rt unless it’s a hard core truck person the limited looks like most other 150s but the raptors look is unique and even the least knowledgeable truck person can see it is completely different. Just wish I had the money to argue this for myself on a new purchase. For now I will stick with my loaded 17EB crew cab xlt it’s a great truck

It just depends what you need it for, if it’s going to be a city/highway queen get the Limited, if you do a lot of off-roading get the Raptor. Better yet, get what you want if you can afford it, it’s a Ford so it will have problems anyway.

Dont listen to the idiot. Ford makes the best truck. Ive been researching all the trucks for months now and ford has the best and most powerful powertrain options of all the trucks. I cant wait to get my 3.5tt xlt in a couple months. Plus F150s have the most timeless design. The new ram has a nice exterior now I must admit and a better interior than F150s and a nice ZF8 tranny but I dont care for the 5.7. If I went V8 Id only go 5.0 with that sweet 10r80. Chevys 6.2 is nice too but cant be had on the lower trims. So F150 it is for me.

Most trucks never go off-road, they're for hauling and snow. Ford should bring back the Lightning with an optional 6-speed stick.

I honestly believe the Raptor and Limited are in the same category. If someone were to pull up in either one of those trucks I would automatically assume they are well-off and probably worked their ass off for it. The only difference being the owners, and what their priorities are. Both are amazing looking trucks though.

The ultimate truck is the one that can go 200,000+ hard miles with basic maintenance and start every time you get in it. Not having a $500+ monthly payment is cool too. So I'll just keep my 1992 F-150 4.9l which is about to hit 220,000. I would probably lose a drag race to a kid on a bicycle but I'm not diagnosing electrical problem codes hahahaha.

The benefit of the Raptor vs Limited is the resale value. The Limited's value will plunge like a rock after you drive off the dealers lot. Think about it..

Agree that Raptor is awesome and has better resale value. With that being said I would rather drive the Limited more like 99% of the time. I live in a flat area in Texas no off-roading here. Regular 4x4 is plenty for my area.
