Not all pop stars are meant to last, that's all there is to it. For every Madonna in the 80's, there were 1000 Sheena Eastons, Lisa Lisas, Samantha Foxes, Jody Watleys, and Brenda K. Starrs, pop singers who I guarantee no one reading this has heard of. Most pop acts are meant to just have a couple of big hits and then make way for newer, shinier acts to take their place, and Camila is one of those artists. She has a ridiculously good team that has gone out of their way to try making her into this A-list pop star, but it just didn't happen despite failed attempt after failed attempt. Maybe she can pull another hit out of her ass with the right producer or right feature, but people just don't care about HER as an artist at the end of the day

Camila's career does seem like a series of missteps more than successes. But to her credit, she really still seems determined despite her struggles to stay relevant after her debut. Her voice is acquired taste, but on its own still helps her stand out, for better and worse, more than any of the other 5H members. And despite the messy Romance rollout, her career still seems more directional than the others. Normani has potential, but never really established a musical identity of her own. Lauren is a good singer, but seems content with where she is in her career without huge mainstream solo success. Camila's past success to me not only relied on a couple of smart decisions, but more so on her distinctive tone. Despite the inconsistent quality of her material, the average music listener is still more likely to recognize the Havana/Señorita girl over the Love Lies/Dancing With A Stranger girl or the All Night/Expectations girl. Fully transitioning into Latin pop may eventually be a wise move for her, as the genre has a huge loyal following.

"three albums in and Camila still appears to be struggling to resonate" 6:03 Lmfao this is just a subjective view. She resonates with me. She resonates with a lot of her latin fans. Also her most recent album debuted at 9 on the UK charts - I mean that's insanely good considering it's half in Spanish. Not to mention her other hits, of which she has had many so she must have something going for her. If Havana, Senorita, Never Be The Same, Bam Bam, etc don't "resonate" with the public, then idk what does. Also her voice is certainly not the generic "pop-girl" voice I think we can all agree, so she is certainly a unique and recognisable artist. I wouldn't be so mad if you had said this was your opinion, but with the success she has had, you just cannot say Camila doesn't "resonate" with people...

But if we're being honest some of Camilas songs are going to outlast any Ariana song Like in 20yrs I feel like Havana out lasts anything Ariana has out

I think she's been overexposed. From the Shawnmila PDA to that terrible Cinderella movie she did and the overwhelming amount of promo behind it. She pushed out all of her predicted "hits" all at around the same time without giving the public time to digest everything. Now it seems like she doesn't even make the kind of music that got her popular in the first place, and she doesn't have the fandom power to pull something like that off successfully.

Camila was not the leader of the group, she was just the centre of attention of the group. Either because do you want to go solo or Company wants her to go onset own. Fifth Harmony wasn’t the worst girl group in history, just not the biggest and recognised group. Be notable but because they’re not a mega star or making history. Doesn’t make it any worse group. Also I agree that, she is not that great of a singer. I think the reason second album sort of failed. It’s because it’s pretty much the same as her first. And the second reason for making songs about Shawn, it’s just a publicity stunt in hoping is just to boos her popularity. Quite frankly I don’t really care, if her music go down hill. She’s not that great a singer, like Beyoncé and Nicole Scherzinger. And plus, the music sounds all the same to me. So I don’t care what happened with her career in singing or acting. She isn’t really that interesting to be honest.

Her relationship with Shawn was only promo for Señorita. And I know as a non-black person, I shouldn’t have the opinion or say in her redemption arc for her past racism but if she did and said those things as a teen and can’t be forgiven, why has it been so easy to forgive Justin Bieber and Purpose was after, being his most successful era? for fifth harmony - their label set them up to fail. the label didn't let them have any creative input while camila was in the group, and she was always the label's favorite, therefore pushed to the front and given the most solos. when she left, she signed with the same label as fifth harmony, epic, and they used feud rumors to get camila more publicity and tank the other four girls' careers. for camila - i genuinely love all of her music, she's just not promoted properly. her relationship with shawn didn't help her, nor did those messages that were leaked. she has amazing music - at least in my opinion - and 'shameless' could've been a massive hit had her team not been so focused on senorita with shawn. however, all that being said, i don't think her discography and popularity automatically equate to her being the most passionate about music. she's definitely passionate, but i think lauren's the most passionate out of all of them. she went independent to be able to release authentic music, and everything she's released is amazing - her ep, prelude, and her latest single, always love. she is a top tier artist and the world needs to stop sleeping on her. that's the end of my comment lol. stream always love

It's a shame her Familia album didn't do as well in the US because I thought songs like Hasta Los Dientes, La Buena Vida, and Celia had a really unique sound that isn't heard in typical pop songs. I think the only way for her career to even somewhat flourish would be to transition into the Latin Pop market since it seems like her image is all over the place, which is hurting more than helping her. Besides Havana, the one song that made me pay attention to her again was My Oh My. Yet I remember when my ex would play one of her Romance songs on repeat before I found My Oh My and I found it so annoying, it didn't fit her voice at all. Then again, she's making millions so I'm sure she'll be fine either way 😂

I don't think that was smart at all. Taylor and Ari have worked really hard to get where they are now. I don't know much about Ari but I can tell you Taylor's albums literally built her career like a flight of stairs and I'm pretty sure even Ari's did the same.
