WHAT'S HER ESSENCE, BODY, AND, COLOR TYPE?! | Subscriber Typing

Hi Merriam, I’ve requested this before but thought I’d ask again (sorry to be a pain!) if you’d consider just an essence consultation as an option? I’m a club member and I’ve had my colours and body type done with you (soft classic and warm and muted) but I’m stumped on my essence even after watching videos on the subject. If you could please let me know if this would be possible I’d really appreciate it, I’d of course be happy to pay to do it. Thanks! ❤

In my subjective opinion your face looks theatrical romantic, but essence is also what you like and who you are. F.g. Im soft classic too, but I like to look even more feminine and playful without looking childish. My essence is romantic, gamine, sometimes natural. Your hair and big cute eyes gives me theatrical romantic vibe, like some Hollywood star from silent movie

Both for your opinion and for your very kind words :) I'm 42 so I dress pretty intuitively at this point but I find it helpful to get others opinions and have some guidelines to play with. This pic was taken about six or seven months ago and I'm wearing my hair naturally here. I've been blowdrying my hair smooth recently so it's good to know that my natural hair suits me too! Personally I enjoy the classic french aesthetic and I really like florals and stripes. I'm going to have a look at theatrical romantic essence and play around with adding some elements 💚

I can definitely see the Angelic-Ethereal essence! And she for sure looks great in muted shades. I'm not sure about warm or cool, although I lean warm, as her first photo looks very warm in general, and I'm not sure if she's warming herself up with self tanner. I'm not as familiar with Merriam's body typing system, but I do not think the client could be a Soft Dramatic based on the picture in the red dress. If you look at her legs in that photo they are very posed, and not in a relaxed state. If she had the same body shape with both of her feet next to each other, then I could maybe say she was SD. Based on the 3 pictures from 12:20 onwards (white floral black dress, the muted pink and dusty green/grey dress) her shoulders are strikingly straight, and in the white floral black dress she shows a naturally taught slim figure, that doesn't look fleshy like an DS. I would say she looks like a natural, but maybe if she works out to emphasize her figure, she could look more SN through muscle and 'curvy'. In the red dress what surprisingly catches my eye is her strong arms, which look great.

So can plastic surgery change your essence or even body type? I'm not sure if some of these photos are edited or if cosmetic surgery was done, but in some photos I feel like her essence completely changes-- like she becomes more ethereal. I hope this is not insulting, she looks wonderful in every photo, I was just wondering!

Hi Merriam, could you please explain what makes you place her into the Soft Dramatic category and not into Theatrical Romantic? She looks so delicate to me that I thought she would be TR, so now I'm confused 😅

Romantic is more fleshy, dramatic more bony. She is not too bony like Keira Knightly, but still has clear bony contures.

I have blue eyes and if i wear bright blue it overpowers me. So im pretty sure im cool and delicate.

Yes... a ring around edge of iris, rather than a Starburst pattern. The photo doesn't seem to have natural lighting or natural in other ways I.e.makeup, colored hair

In one photo near the end tho, her eyes donseem to have a wash of grey verging on clear green But the ring instead of Starburst pattern is something one colourist uses in part to determine colour.

I'm so confused. Why are such clear blue eyes considered warm? I would have thought that they're a textbook example of 'cool'.

They look pretty green to me, soft warm green probably but hard to tell from photos

I don't follow Kitchener closely although I very much admire his work. I take a lot of inspiration from Truth is Beauty when it comes to essences. Last I checked, Ethereal is not a Kitchener essence, but Angelic is. They are slightly different. My impression is that Ethereal is more broad perhaps. I take a lot of inspiration from a blog called Truth is Beauty when it comes to essences, but I also have my own interpretation of them.
