I always loved Daphne in this show, they would be at a locked door and Daphne would be like "don't worry I'll just take like three tiny things from my purse" and then she'll suddenly have broken into a bank vault, she had like a hidden criminal past vibe and it was hilarious to me

@@wathak504 Shaggy's vegeterianism came and went from series to series. The original voice actor turned vegan after the series started and so he asked them to make Shaggy a vegan. Then they started making Shaggy eat meat and appear in Burger King ads so the original voice actor quit and the brought in some new ones and his veganism disappeared. Later when veganism started becoming more popular in the mainstream they made him vegan again. I know in the 70s and I think 80s he was a meat eater, then in the late 80s and part of the 90s a vegan, then in the 90s and early 2000s a meat eater, then in the mid 2000s a vegan again and i think there were changes even within those stretches. I know in Zombie Island he ate crawfish and ham but I think in the Alien Invaders movie he was a vegetarian for example and those came out in 98 and 2000. In Scooby Doo and Guess Who he started out a meat eater and went vegan on 1 episode. It basically varies by writer.

From what I remembered from What's New, there seemed like a greater emphasis on the "Whodunnit" aspect of it, in that it introduces more potential suspects with their own plausible motives. It really gets me thinking about the clues as the episode goes on and provides interesting twists for the villain that actually make sense, such as with the lighthouse ghoul episode and the smart house episode (my personal fave because it was one of the few eps that gave off a creepy vibe for me)

In the late 2000s and early 2010s I remember watching What’s up Scooby Doo every school day morning, and due to the fact that episodes were back to back and my school bus came in between the two, the words “What’s up Scooby Doo” from Simple Plan served as my “get off your ass and get ready” call.
@arthas6403 жыл бұрын
For me it was Power Rangers in elementary school (we got a better cable package when i was in middle school so my morning shows got more varied) since there was always some Power Rangers series that played after my morning shower as i was getting ready. This was and still is my favorite Scooby Doo series- I love it since it's just got that Scooby charm, but with more modern writing sensibilities that makes for a lot more legitimate humor than the amusing nature of past series. Plus, it definitely gives Scooby and Shaggy's antics a jump in creativity, Daphne finally has a real niche in the gang outside being the de facto leader when Fred isn't around or being the girly girl otherwise and Fred finally has character. Like, I've loved all the Scooby series post What's New and would argue they all do things better in terms of giving their shows identity. Like, I loved the darker, story driven nature of Mystery Incorporated, I loved the edge of the humor Be Cool had, while still keeping the show's characters rooted to not make them unlikable like, say, Teen Titans Go. Be Cool still has the characters show each other a level of friendship that feels like familial bickering than straight up being horrible people to one another. And Guess Who feels like it kinda combines the classic formula with some of the edge and absurdity of Be Cool, being a good throw back while still feeling unique...ish. It's an enjoyable watch, but it really feels like a mixed bag since some episodes are great and others are the Funky Phantom Crew's mess of an episode. I am a die hard Scooby fan, though, and while I have individual moments I dislike, maybe even whole episodes in some cases, I love me some Scooby Doo. You can make it vanilla, you can make it strawberry, you can just add some sprinkles and call it a day. Whatever the case, I will always love Scoobert Doobert Doo.

What’s new was on Cartoon Network all the time, and even though I watched every single episode, I still could never like it as much as the older one not even as a kid. They just weren’t scary and I felt comforted by that. Even the movies feel Less scary, but I still own every single one. I think this video explains very well what what’s new makes you feel.

I think this iteration of Scooby-Doo will always be my favorite because it came out and was on from 2002-2006 when I was 3-7. This was MY SHOW where I was that age. It was the only one I would watch, I still have a VHS of the first four episodes of the show. I was given all three seasons on DVD as a Christmas gift and still have them to this day over ten years later. I have a lot of those movies on VHS and DVD as well. I can see the flaws in it now but I can't help watching it because it makes me feel like a kid again. This and the original series (which was also played in heavy rotation at my house) was like the only thing I would watch for years. (And i do have to say I sometimes binge all three seasons.) The Kiss episodes are my favorite.

@Johto well it is believed that it all took place in a alternate universe or if Scooby-doo return to zombie island is to be believed it all happened in the same dimension I really don't like return to zombie island it does a horrible job putting everything together

I heavily remembered this series, in fact, it was my very first Scobby show that I was present for from it's start to end (was born in 90 when "A pup named Scooby Doo" was airing through). Also, it's the first Scobby Doo series to be under Warner Animation, plus, in the start of that same year, the channel it aired on, Kids WB started airing classic eps of the original series every weekday, which got me fully in the series (didn't have cable growing up, so no cartoon Network influence during the mid 90s), plus, it was the 3rd broadcast channel to air Scooby after ABC (way before the Disney buyout). The Christmas episode was a prime time special that aired on Friday night on the WB network, which is no stranger to airing primetime animations of their Saturday morning/weekday content, also the same with their Halloween and Valentine's day eps. Heck, one time, to promote the show, Shaggy & Scobby had an animated cameo in the 7th (& final) season of "Sabrina the teenage witch" on the same network, Ironically enough STTW (a Paramount television distributed series) aired on Scobby's old network, ABC until spring 2000 and the WB picked up the series, also, both properties also started out on CBS ,& at the time of the WB Scooby era, CBS aired only Nickelodeon content. Before the announcement of WNSD, I too wondered if they'll make a new Scooby show, as to my overall feel looking back, it's the same and matches your thoughts a bit, I wasn't too dazzed by the incredibly bright colors clashing everywhere, luckily enough, some things were different in the following Scooby Doo series, it's definitely a look all on it's own with experimental Scooby designs for TV shows lasting up until Scooby Doo & Guess who ,which feels more back to basics.

Dude I got my nephew who just turned 4 to sit down and watch this Scooby Doo a few months back. It's his favorite uncle Ben show, and my uncle always say with me and watched the OG Scooby Doo and that's how I became a fan. I always have new Scooby Doo stuff a try, as a kid I watched all the movies, every Halloween I watched the Scooby marathons, a pup named Scooby Doo, and even when I was in the hospital recovering from surgeries my grandparents and uncle would stop by at least once and we would spend all day watching Scooby Doo. It has so many good memories for my family and I, even the newer less imaginative animation versions I watch and they always bring a smile to my face. Thanks Billiam for these retrospective looks at my favorite American cartoon

I dont think you realize how Daphne and Velma characters changed as much tho. Daphne brought more to the team than just a pretty face and a damsel in distress. She uses her knowledge in cosmetics more to help with cases. She also is a black belt in this series she went to classes in china if i'm not mistaken. Velma is much more sarcastic and tends to be the funniest one and to be blunt they gave her personality and she not standing in the background being mostly quiet anymore, this series made her more than the girl who is smart. Like how you like the golf episode, she was the exact opposite of herself due to her fear of clowns! that was one of my favorite episodes too especially since it presents the characters in a different light you didnt expect Shaggy to be brave of Velma to run and hide. This series gave each character more personality and are relatable. which at least to me will make it the best series in a long time.

I will always remember the time I was like 5 or 6 and I woke up in the morning not being able to turn my head or move because it was so painful, I could only face the wall. I started to freak out and scream to my brother and sister who were in the living room and told them to call my dad. They called and he basically said "that seems like a you kind of problem." My brother and sister hung up and were like "well, see ya" and started to go back to the living room. I begged them to stay and keep me company, which they agreed to but were annoyed by. They then started to watch scooby-doo monster in mexico. I could hear the movie playing and started to have an internal struggle with life because that was my favorite movie at the time. I then forced myself to turn to face the tv. I then got in trouble because everyone thought I was lying... Long story short: whenever I see scooby-doo monster I get flashbacks to that.... great video btw

What’s new scooby doo is my favorite since I grew up on it
@liamdenise2462 жыл бұрын
I enjoyed what's new scooby doo a lot, it updated the character designs, gave us a different and more vibrant world that seemed not as depressing and rundown as the original, and it changed the characters. I loved how they changed Daphne, she went from the 2d cut out she was in the original to a character who actually could do stuff herself, Shaggy actually showed himself to be a track runner, and golfer.We got more depth from the characters then the original cartoon for sure.Plus the intro was very catchy, and I think one or two of the movies made in that era were really good, the one with the ghost samuri Ioved, as we got Shaggy having real development and learning to overcome his fears, plus the dragon was amazingly cool to see.I still think Mystery Incorporated is the best scooby doo show made, but this sits behind it as the number 2.

Not to mention their designs indicate that they are young adults in this series not teenagers as they live in their own houses together and pay rent though granted they still are in their teens so early 20s seems most appropriate time me.

My favorite times watching Scooby Doo are the times I would be up at, like, 12 am with my brother, and we would basically riff the show. But out of love. And yeah, this particular iteration was very pop punk. Which makes sense, Scooby has always been linked to counter-culture music movements.
