I got the Blast-Off a few months back, and just ordered another. I’m really impressed with how well MMC managed to capture my favourite combiner team so far. Blast-Off was my least favourite Combaticon before I got the figure, so I knew there was basically no bias going into that. It blew me away with how fun the transformation was, and convinced me to keep an eye on the rest of the set. This led to me looking for a Vortex or Swindle since they’re my two favourite members of the team. Now I have a Swindle on the way, and I couldn’t be happier! To anyone looking to check this out, get the Blast-Off first. You can almost always find it for the same price or lower than Swindle and Vortex. The Blast-Off also has a very fun transformation that can be done remarkably fast!

I think the Combaticons are the only G1 combiner set I had a complete set for. My Constructicons were missing one, can't remember who, I one of the arms, that much I remember. Never could find either leg for Defensor, and could only find two parts of Superion and neither were Silverbolt. Definitely planning to get this set. Already ordered Volatus(Blast-off). Swindle seems the easiest one to find not on back-order/pre-order.

Here are my personal thoughts about this set from what i've seen *Onslaught:* Truck mode is perfect and can even split down the middle for a "truck hauling a flatbed" aesthetic. Robot mode does have odd proportions though with the elongated waist and short thighs. *Swindle:* Jeep is about what I'd expect yet surprisingly clean for a dude that is essentially a triple changer (Bot, Jeep, and Leg Mode). Robot is SOO Gorgeous though when his knee is bent it doesn't look like much has happened since his thigh seemingly disappears into the shape. *Vortex:* Just good all around in all modes, though I suspect his hopeless head situation could be a serious down point if I were to get him. *Blast Off:* *INCOMING RAGE* I get that they had to hide the two fist halves inside his legs, But did they really have to give this dude CALF ROCKERS!?!!? As a person who absolutely adores when a transformer has an ankle pivot, it just disgusts me to see such an abomination of a compromise for the sake of the all in one gimmick. In short he's good as anything else other than a robot. Seriously, they could've just given him a toe pivot and It would've been fine, but NNNOOOOOO they just HAD to design the pivot so that it completely BREAKS the leg in half just so that the arm mode can work. In short, I still don't think there is a perfect Blast-Off. *Brawl:* Now I can see why they saved this guy till last, he's just great. The way his arms transform for going to and from tank mode is F*cking genius. *Bruticus:* Proportions look great for an all-in-one gestalt, *BUT* having seen some reviews though it comes at the price of being VERY unstable. Seroiusly for all the crap that people give the Zeta combiners for their usage of partsforming, at least THOSE THINGS are stable and can hold a pose while this set as seen in Bobby Skullface's review kept wanting to fall apart when he tried to pose it (Particularly in the hips of Onslaught). I also hate that all of the bots have "typewriter" fingers. Either have fully articulated digits or swap out hands!

Here's the thing about the blast off, since the toes are round, they look about fine in any stance, and they legs are large enough to give him stability, so there isn't really any use in calf rocker. I don't even think that's actually supposed to be what it is. That joint is absolutely required for Transformation. I think it's just a Transformation joint, we are all mistaking for an Ankle tilt, because they didn't design it with one as it didn't need one. As for the Bruticus, I have no problems with it's stability. The most unstable thing about it, is that if you pick it up the legs have a habit ob bowing inward on the hip joints, but, I can drop that thing into any pose without fear. So that might just be QC issues with other peoples copies. And I can say that I infact have a Zeta combiner, and that thing is unstable to the point I hate the thing. It's so expensive, and so heavy, that I won't leave it standing because it want's to fall over so bad, and if it does I'm sure something is going to break.

All my criticisms aside, this would probably be the Bruticus for my collection since i'm going with Has/Tak Titan combiner scale for my gestalts. Guess I just got to wait for some members to come back in stock.

I believe they put Vortex on a ball joint that was super easy to knock off because it is almost impossible to transform him and get those arms past the head if the head doesn't come off. I have tried to transform him numerous times without knocking it off and it seems impossible to do, but I think this loose head was their way of avoiding having it be broken as people tried in vain to get the arms past the head without damaging one or the other. I say all this but I still love this Transformer.

I've done it a few times, I think had it been on a mushroom pet you could have swapped sides with it left and right, to get it out of the way for the part that moves past it. It's the one flaw on an otherwise perfect figure.

Sand a little off the bottom of Vortex’s head joint to create a flat surface. Then drill a tiny hole. Find a tiny screw. Screw the head to the base. Use glue if necessary to secure screw. Profit.

Maybe the way you fix Vortex is by thickening up the ball or shrinking the socket with a bit of floor polish, or super glue or paper towel. That way the difference in sizes between the ball and the cavity shrinks.

Thanks. And yeah they are absolutely fantastic. Every last one is worth buying, the order of the final list does not matter in deciding weather or not you want any of the figures, they are all worth buying. I picked them up on Show Z Store, but they are at sites like the BBTS and TFSource, I think each site actually has a different instock assortment, Like I don't think you can get the Vortex on Show Z, but I saw it on BBTS. I think the swindle was 80 and the Onslaught was 160 and the rest were like 120, so if you are paying more than that for each, then you should be wary of the price.

From what I've heard, later releases of the set not only fixed the Vortex head, but also the joint tolerances on the Swindle. That or maybe you're just unlucky for the billionth time and got bad tolerances. 😂 Either way, I haven't heard any other guy complain about Swindle, so that's a big plus.

Super late to the party, not sure if you found another solution, but on Impetus/Vortex: You can fix the head, but it's rather intrusive. You can DIY it into a pin joint -- the ball cup already has a hole in the right place, you just need to make one in the ball itself and glue a nail into it to hold the two parts together. I did it to mine and it works perfectly. ------- Have Impetus partially transformed so you have full access to the chest cavity. Basically, have him in robot mode but with all of the tail stuff and his backpack unfolded. Take the neck hinge double ball plate out. Pop off the joint that doesn't hold, and unscrew the head, so you're just left with the double sided ball plate thing. Drill a hole (1.5mm / 1/16") straight through the center of the problem ball, out through the other side of the plate. Think as though the ball snapped off, and you were going to reattach it by pinning it through with a paperclip. But, obviously, it's not snapped off. If you're perfectly centered, the drill should come out just next to the thick stem the other balljoint is on, on the other side of the plate. You don't have to pass the drill all the way through, but it will make later parts of the process easier. This part's really scary because if you're even slightly crooked or off-center you'll destroy the part, so I made a jig to securely hold the part out of scrap wood and used a drill press to drill perfectly straight down. I spent a solid 15 minutes making adjustments with clamps making sure it was perfectly centered. This part you CANNOT fuck up. Do it once, do it right. Don't be a dumbass and try to freehand it with a hand drill. Put the neck plate back into the problem ball cup, but don't reattach the head. Then, take a nail with a wide head that fits the drilled hole, and pass the nail up through the ball cup's strain release slot and the hole in the ball you just drilled. Push it up until the head of the nail is flush with the back of the ball socket, then use a marker and mark the nail where it pokes out the top of the neck plate. Take the nail out, then use metal snips or a grinding wheel to cut the nail to the length you just marked. Put it back in and make sure it doesn't poke out the top of the drilled hole any more, and then remove it again. Squeeze a DROP of superglue down into the drilled hole from the top. Be extra careful not to get any on the surface of the balljoint, and quickly clean up any surface excess. Take the nail and insert it through the bottom, passing through the ball cup's strain relief slot again, just like you did to mark the length. Make sure it's squeezed firmly flush with the back of the ball socket. The glue should hold the nail in the ball permanently. Wipe off any superglue that came back up through the top of the hole. Once the glue is cured (I gave it a few hours) you can screw the head back on the upper balljoint. ------------ The end result should be analogous to a captive pin joint, with the head of the nail keeping the ball pinned to the ball socket so it can't fall out any more. The two major points of concern are mauling the neck plate by not drilling it correctly, and applying too much superglue and gluing the joint solid. Between fixing the neck balljoint and following peolesdru's order of operations for the tail so you don't have to flex anything, Vortex has become my favorite of the set.

Congrats on hitting 300. I am curious about one thing, though. You've mentioned your dislike of Transformers prime in one of your earlier videos. Would you be willing to make a video about it? A lot of folks on youtube generally agree on TFP's high quality, including one whose dedicated their entire channel to it, which for the life of me I'll never understand. On that note, I'd be interested in your thoughts on RID 2015, since that piece gets constantly compared to Prime. A simple request, but one I hope to see.

I absolutely have plans to do a video on that at some point, but I wanted to wait on that until I've got at least a few thousands subscribers under my belt, because I want to maximize the potential loss of them. All kidding aside I did want to wait for a few thousand at least, so it wouldn't be one of those forgotten videos on a channel that got big. Every big youtuber out there has some videos everyone associates with their channel, and then videos they did too early and no one remembers. I want alot of people to remember me talk about Prime. If you want that to be sooner rather then later, you can keep commenting, liking, and telling friends. That will absolutely help me get there. And as for Rid 2015. It's a bad cringe inducing comedy. It's the worse, direct sequel, complete genera flip to Prime. I have no idea what they were thinking.

Bumblebee is once again the serries dog, he's not allowed to talk so you think of him like an animal, and sympathies with him, on a very primal level. Megatron is an idiot, who constantly sabotages himself and his own faction, by being a stupid brute with a dramatic streak. Guns are only dangerous where it's dramatic for them to be, at all other times they are as threatening as getting shot with a paint ball.

I’d tried using dish soap to loosen the ball joint, and it work for a while, with it not being tight you can slowly twist the head without the friction to pop it off. But it only took a year for it to go back to where it was, ooh well, still a great figure either way

I've put paint on ball joints or any joint other than pinned in joints so, my guess is that if you put paint on vortex's head joint it would be temporary tighter.

It's not that it's too loose, my best bet is that the socket is actually much more shallow then is typical. So like where as a normal ball joint will be encapsulated by 75% of the socket, this is only at like 60%, meaning there isn't much moving it can do before it twists out.

He wouldn't be able to transform any more. His head is on this L bracket so when you rotate it, which you have to do for the transformation it completely changes the position of the head.

They unfortunately don't. They are masterpiece scaled. So swindle is going to be bigger than Optimus Prime, and he's the smallest one. Plus the WFC figures don't quite fit the Aesthetics of these guys, because these are going even harder for the cartoon aesthetic, so their surface detailing comes off quite different to even Earthrise. They as great figures, that Fit a Master Piece collection to a T. If you have a mixed collection like mine they'll fit as well as anything does though, but if you are looking for something that specifically fits and scales to a particular line other than MPs you are going to find they aren't made for that.

Well the Jinbao is an oversized KO of the Warbotron set of Combaticons, and it's not so much bad as it is Dated, and simple with a BAD case of partsforming. The only two figures in the set I'd call Good on their own are the Onslaught and Blast Off. Swindle has a terrible case of the Kibbles, and Brawl and Vortex have MASSIVE partsforming were like 1/4th of both their altmodes pop off Brawls you can kind of keep on in robot mode, but the connection is Tenuous to say the least, but Vortex MUST partsform to transform. And then the combined form has the normal had foot thing with a decent combined trailer integration, but it's not exactly the most stable thing out there.

About blast offs head try tin foil on most ball joints it works I haven't come across any circumstances that it didn't

Wrap the ball with tin foil and trim the tin foil and it will tighten it up and it will hold it in the socket better

I don't know that it's that the balljoint is too small though, I think it might be that there just isn't enough material in the port to hold it in, or that maybe it's too big and it's trying to pop out because of that. But I will give that a try, and see how it goes. I'll keep you posted when I try.
