I had the Chevy Cruze 2012, it ws nothing but problems, from fading Brakes, to Waterpump, to AC not cold enough & finally the transmission skipping gears which eventually ended up in the Junk yard. I'm glad that I got the Civic 2019, 0 problems so far & have driven 45,000 km out of it in 3 years. Also drove it on a Dry Sand, & suprisingly the car never got stuck.

Somewhat anecdotal I suppose, but one thing I really noticed between these two cars is that the Cruze ride quality and cabin noise is far superior to that of the Civic. Every Cruze model I have been in, from their first model year onwards, has managed road noise exceptionally well. Still hard to say which I would choose though, I like both equally for their individual merits.

But the reliability sucks. You will have to sell this car within 5 years of ownership or even lesser. GM's 4 cylinder cars are weak and have terrible build quality. They just break and have endless problems.

Looks like Civic beats that ass on paper, more room, more power, more speed and more MPG, and in overall sales, but the new Cruze Diesel numbers announced: 30/52 MPG with a stick, sells for under $25k. I think it drops next month

I am getting upwards of 45 to 50 MPG on the Cruze. I drive 50 miles highway each way to work and I can get up to 50MPG. My 400mile average hovers around 40MPG

Honda has enjoyed having a good reputation in terms of initial quality and long term reliability, that has eroded in the last few years. CR is a good initial source for that trend. Once the darling of CR, now many of Honda's models are not recommended due to quality/reliability issues. Toyota has improved and since getting away from Ford, Mazda has done incredibly well. All that said, I love Honda and will continue to drive them, but I'm no fanboy.

My 2017 cruze is really not that bad of a move considering I've always been a Mazda3 guy. I'm always over my mpg to the point I didn't trust my computer and then checked the math manually. I have the lt and i'd have to question how they package there cars. Like I have 4 windows auto down but not up at least on my car. I got heated seats but 16 rims. But really the only annoying issue is the small drink holders, super tiny cant even hold my Iphone 7+.

Chevy Cruze 1.8L petrol 1st Gen was a slow dog, sometimes even the corolla felt faster than it. The 6 speed auto didn't help much.

The civic is obviously superior. WHOS MAKING A CAR TO DRIVE?! I want something with airbags, crank windows, a radio, a drivetrain, and a body. I don't wanna see this bullshit. The computer systems are nice but the automatic everything is stupid. Engine start/stop is bad for your car so end that. Heated seats aren't necessary and are pretty hefty. Touchscreens really don't use up a lot of weight, but all these other things do. There should be a gas engine, a starter, and an alternator in a car no more engines. MAKE ME A LIGHT CAR LIKE THE OLD COROLLA OR CIVIC AND GIVE IT THE NEWER ENGINES AND BODIES AND WE WILL SEE 45 MPG!
