Hey everybody! Hope you liked this video. I've wanted to make something about intros for a while, but I wasn't sure how to do it. This topic is really interesting to me and I wanna hear your thoughts on it too!

The band Slipknot have an intro track on every album that they have released from the looping of an interview from a charles manson documentary on their debut and one of the members greiving over a family member on their sophmore record to the lead singer reciting is own version of a richard nixon speech as industrial noise goes on in the background with a drum solo appearing half way through the track on their 4th LP all the way to their new album which was released last month where the opening cut is both intimate and big, dripping with both despair and hope as near the end of the track we hear the line "I'm counting all the killers", which is one of the first lines of the final track on the album makimg a nice bookend but also telling us what this album is going to be about. What i'm trying to say is can you please do a video on Slipknot?

Ha, the whole time I was watching the video I couldn't stop thinking about The End. Definitely an amazing 'Disney' intro and possibly my favorite opener period. The way it bleeds into the next track, Dead!, is absolutely perfect and those two tracks really set the stage for the entire album.

igors theme is a great intro. one thing about it that sticks out the most is it has little chunks and clips of instruments and samples that are used later on in the album think the "runnin runnin" alluding to runnin outta time. the "bah" vocal samples that are also used on thank you. "got my eyes open" referencing what's good. just a really cool way to open up the album. extra points for slowly bringing in each element. starts with bass, then drums, then the keys and synths. really gets u ready for what's to come

Sherane aka Master Splinter's Daughter on GKMC I love how the cassette player at the beginning signifies that the album is starting NOW (the equivalent in a film would be having curtains open up at the beginning which would signal that the show is starting now). I love the dark, ominous, and mysterious production at the beginning because it makes you a little tense, and anxious to see how this album will end up. (Also, just the polish of the production at the beginning when compared to Section.80, just shows how much Kendrick has already matured as an artist). The guys at the beginning reciting prayers in unison make me question how big of a theme religion/faith will be. Are their prayers lessons that we will learn by the end of this album? Or is this something simply to reel the audience in? As the music stalls at the end of their prayer, we are then thrown right into the scene that the whole album is really based around. At that point, Kendrick just takes us on a ride through the use of his (f in') genius lyricism. It's a flashforward that gives us something to look forward to as the real story actually commences. The end of his 3rd verse PERFECTLY transitions into the skit at the end of this track, which is one of the funniest, most entertaining skits you'll ever hear. And the skit establishes certain characters in this story that we will hear back from again, and even the end of the skit PERFECTLY transitions into the next track. Sherane aka Master Splinter's Daughter is the BEST track I've ever heard period. Fight me.

My favorite intro is Wesley's Theory on To Pimp A Butterfly. It starts giving the base message of the album and sets up the subjects that will be elaborated as the songs go on, including the whole catterpillar/butterfly thing. Also its one of the most jazz/funk songs on the project and it gets you pumped up for what you're about to hear. Lyrically, the song the song works as an excellent starting point on the life of the so-said catterpillar turning into a butterfly and start buolding the situations that will result on all the conflicts the character will face for the duration of the album. It's funky, it's deep, it's simply amazing.

Some of my favorites: Aphex Twin’s “Xtal” - This song immediately introduces a mysterious, yet welcoming sound and melody, and it’s coupled with lively hi-hats that make you want to tap your feet straight away, just as many other songs on the album will. The album takes so many different turns, yet this song being the opener somehow makes sense. Radiohead’s “Everything in Its Right Place” - This is yet another album that takes more than a few turns, but this opener really sets the dystopian, melancholic, and utterly beautiful tone that carries on throughout the entire album. Cocteau Twins’ “Cherry-Coloured Funk” - The opening notes to this song puts you directly into the wonderful, dreamy, textured soundscape that Cocteau Twins are so famous for being able to create. I could once again say that this song sets the mood for the rest of the album, but this is in reality just a fantastic song that will hook you and make you want to listen to the rest of the album.

For Whom the Bell Tolls by J. Cole. I just love that song. I think if only it was longer it could’ve been just a normal song but because it’s so short it’s good at being the intro. It really gets the listener paying attention. Another intro song I like is No Church in the Wild because it sounds so cinematic and braggadocious yet simple and not too over-the-top. Other album intros I wanna mention: Black Panther by Kendrick Lamar, and Nikes by Frank Ocean. They just get the listener hooked at first listen

Underrated intro son imo is high for this, how cinematic it is, how industrial and experimental the production is, the atmosphere, the lyrics. It really brings you into the weeknds party life better then most of his songs and not only that but i think it also introduces the other mixtapes (Thursday and echoes of silence) well, especially if you’re listening to the trilogy album as a whole I feel like high for this introduces the other mixtapes better then lonely star from Thursday and d.d from echoes. You could also throw in their proffessional from kissland which is honestly one of his best written songs and alone again from after hours.

My personal favorite intro is Shattered Dreams off of Some Rap Songs. The off-pattern sample with the drowned out strings give you such a good taste of what’s next in SRS. That along with Earl’s simple, yet complex lyrics and flow show what type of tone you’ll get from the album. I think this is one of the best openers to any album.

Either Wesley’s Theory or Dark Fantasy are probably my favourite album intros. Not only are they both amazing pieces of music, but both come in and set the tone for the album. In Wesley’s Theory, the sample slowly fades in with the clicks and pops of a vinyl and sings lyrics of black empowerment, a theme that is found throughout the album. Dark Fantasy comes in with layers of mellow vocals underneath Nicki Manaj’s reading of this story. Then a voice calls out “Can we get much higher?” Over lush piano and strings. The use of vocals as an instrument, the lushness, and maximalist production all find there way on every song in the album and helps tie the record together. Both are definitely more Disney. Both have amazing build ups, climaxes, and resolutions and they both want to show you what’s to come.
