Bring back memories when i was a pipe fitter works great keep on welding
@126inasplit7 жыл бұрын
Definitely a good tip. Working with a welder right now that levels off of everything and by the time we’re done... it’s off here and there, some way or another.
@draperwd865 жыл бұрын
So basically just level off the flange. The one thing to go off of...got it.
@jessicarose97247 жыл бұрын
Another good trick is to place your level the same direction on each piece. I put a S on one end of my level and make sure it is always south.

Am I the only one that's noticed the welds before the video even starts.. slicker then owl shit. Learning everytime I watch one of these videos keep up the great work.

I try not to use levels much unless I cant do it with 2 squares squares dont lie like levels do. good video.
@JacobSchofield4 жыл бұрын
Very true just squares are a pain. If it’s critical I’ll use a square but 99% of what I do they want inch’s and they have 8 bolts to pull it around.
@1ifbyland2ifbysea4 жыл бұрын
@@JacobSchofield no critiquing here. we get enough of it from inspectors. you do good work man. thanks for the reply. I do a lot of pre fab for plant work so we usually try to get it right so we dont have a cut on install just like most of us. It's good to see the downhill side of the gas work that you do. were all uphill unless the weld techs not looking.

Good point, makes sense. I think the word you were looking for was "compounding". If you keep changing your reference surface, the run out will continue to compound. I have a question tho...do pipe welders ever use a string line to check for level? Seems like it would be helpful, especially with long runs of pipe.

Hey Jake I've been watching for awhile now I'm about to go to school for welding I've been in vo-tech for 2 years now, not much longer and I'll be on the road when I get out I wanna go to the pipeline any tips on how to get started? Like perhaps what should my first step be? Where is the money at? Do I need to invest in a rig? Let me know man and great videos Weld on😎

Sorry if this is a dumb question. Gonna ask it anyways. Hope this makes sense. Maybe you have a video on it already. How would you level a 90° or 45° elbow off of a flange?
@JacobSchofield5 жыл бұрын
I will for sure do a fit up of both. Very useful info.

Still trying to figure out why some dude with a hood on is worried about fitting pipe....? That there is what we call the fitters job, you tack it where he says tack it and then you burn it out, somebody so much as hands me a level they gonna find out real quick and in a hurry they made a mistake.
