Larry, I'm curious if you knew of any union guys during your time connected to any families? Look up John Dougherty (union guy for IBEW in Philly) he is connected to all sorts of people in politics and was just convicted for 20 years. There was a guy name Joseph Dougherty (Ironworker union in Philly) who was busted a few years back, not sure if they are related, although it seems likely. John Dougherty is nicknamed Johnny Doc and Joseph Dougherty was nicknamed Joey Doc... John Dougherty is related to a Pennsylvania Supreme Court justice... the whole thing just seems really slimy, was wondering if you had any knowledge of how that kind of shit works

looking back on it I actually had a pretty good time in prison. It's just a bunch of guys hanging out once you get to know people and there are plenty of stories to hear. I even ended up starting a dungeons and dragons campaign because our library had the books for that.

I think if you reached out to the producers of the show and asked them where they got their info from and invited them on your show it would make for a fascinating exchange of experiences and information. You can maybe explain how your experience differed from what they've presented and what you have heard from others who have been locked up have experienced and how it does't jive with their videos. Then they can explain where they acquired that information from. Maybe it would be revealed it came from politicians who have some sort of agenda and they had to present the information in a way that was fitting their narrative. Or maybe some other source will be revealed. Not only would it make for an interesting show it would also help their channel's accuracy or even have them re-do their episode!

Great vids! I used to work at a medium security prison prepping food. One day one of the units gave me hard time, so I gave that whole unit instant coffee instead of regular coffee. They didn't like that very much.

Hi Larry, I just subscribed today and I am really enjoying your videos. I’ve always been interested in prison life and since I started learning about it, I’ve been very concerned about the treatment of prisoners. We seem to incarcerate people for the smallest offenses (for instance drug addiction). I strongly believe they belong in rehab and not in prison. Addiction of any kind is a disease and it should be treated as such. Thank you for your candid take on the prison system. It’s fascinating.

After seven years in Texas prisons, I totally, fully agree. Texas alone has so many people in prison, it's almost mind boggling. 70 to 75% of which, I believe shouldn't be there. Not just addicts either. People with mental/emotional/psychological issues, or (to be blunt) just plain stupid. And the way inmates are treated is completely inhumane - totally dehumanizing, which just makes these poor people worse. Double example - I'll try to be short. Just over two years before my discharge date, I was falsely accused of participating in a riot (4 black men in their 20s, 4 Hispanics, in their 20s, 1 white, in his 40s??). I was taken to a max security unit and locked up in "Seg" to await "trial". I suffer from Chronic Major Depressive Disorder, caused by a brain injury over 20 years ago, and do require some meds to cope with day-to-day issues - this is not typical day-to-day. After about 2 months of nearly complete isolation (no book, pencil, nothing), a NURSE finally shows up. She asks why I think I need meds, I explain, she replies "No, , , , You'll feel better in a couple days", and hands me instructions on How To Breathe. After a year in there, I'm finally reclassified - so I get a cell mate - perfect fit, so much alike (other than he's a body builder, and goes by a woman's name) BUT, one of the best people I've ever met. He has some sort of explosive rage disorder, and sometimes looses control, for just a split second. More than once - he would beat the hell outta me, for seemingly no reason at all - then, 10 seconds later, crying, profusely apologizing, picking me up, trying to hug, or help. He got fifty-some years for hurting someone. By now, I'm sure he's had at least a couple cell mates less understanding than myself. He will never go home - because he will never get the help he needs. He's an amazing person and should have never been put in there in the first place. Oh, BTW, 10 - 15 years ago, Texas prison system changed their name - From, TDC (Texas Department of Corrections) - To, TDCJ (Texas Department of Criminal Justice), after a lawsuit pointed out that they do not Correct anything.

thanks so much, just saw my brother at county jail in federal court and cried after watching that. your video helped, the unknown he steps into for me since he will be incarcerated to federal prison in a couple months wish he could watch this also.

I'm in the UK, extremely depressed and terrified for the person I love the most who is facing time and I can't fathom how he's feeling. It's still raw (happened 6 days ago) and I'm not coping. It's good to watch your videos and see how strong you've come out of all of this crap as.

the sleep part is so true. When I spent my first night in prison it was after a couple days in jail so having a mattress instead of a concrete was amazing. I almost slept through call the next morning for me to get out thankfully my celly woke me up

Yes you're pretty much on point, I worked as a federal correction officer FCI Safford Arizona I don't know if you've ever heard of that 1, We had a lot of witness protection people on our unit

Lmao I love how I've never spent a minute in jail or prison but thanks to channels like yours and Jessica Kent's I knew the infographics version of the first day was total bull before Larrys clip explaining how it's wrong 😂 I heard "after arriving the prisoner goes to work" and was like....no...that would be like two weeks later😂 did they do even a minute of research before making this
