Over the last decade and a half that I've followed Dr. Hyman my generally good health has become great. At 70 years of age no aches or pains of any kind. People attribute it to good genes. I know better. Genes load the gun, one's environment pulls the trigger. Many thanks to both doctors for being so dedicated to improving our understanding of how our bodes and the world are related.

What a wonderful conversation. His final comment on bringing the female perspective into the equation in more fields was unexpected but so welcome.

I loved this entire interview...priceless with history & nuggets of health information! Putting all if that aside, my favorite thing to observe in this is your genuine & mutual admiration and praise for one another. A true sign of servants to humanity (neither of you ever make anything about yourselves)! Thank you for setting a rare & stunning example (on so many levels) to all of us watching.

Back in the early 90's I worked for Metagenics and had the opportunity to hear Dr. Bland lecture on numerous occasions. I couldn't have been more impressed with his knowledge and commitment to functional medicine. I promoted many of his products to health practitioners and heard countless stories of patients who were helped immensely and/or cured by following his protocols. He was a pioneer for sure!

Long time follower of Dr. Hyman and 1st time hearing Dr. Bland... What a great and informative conversation. The functional medicine approach to caring for ourselves is so on point! It's the way I felt for years I'm so glad it's gaining traction in the mainstream. I want everyone to hear this podcast.

This was a very insightful interview. I have been having challenges with inflammation in my back and hips. I had removed gluten, grains, nuts and seeds from my diet but still had issues. Recently, I have eliminated refined sugar from my diet and I have seen dramatic improvements and most of my symptoms are disappearing. I am proof that food should be your medicine and your medicine your food. I have also found that adding organic sulfur to my diet has also been helpful.

Wonderful, revealing and inspiring conversation. I fully support functional medicine since my first contact with it 4 years ago. There was an affordable functional medicine company in Dedham, MA that could not survive economically Deeply disappointing that there was no room for it in the medical system. Outside of that it has been difficult to find an affordable functional medicine treatment.

Jeffery Bland is very knowledgeable about functional medicine. He has made it onto the Quackwatch list. That verifies he is an expert on recovering your health.

Thanks Docs, excellent discussion and yes The question - “Is It Disease Care or Health Care?” - big fan of the HMP and the work of Drs. Larry Smarr and Rob Knight - www.70GoingOn100.com the Centenarian Diet, or maybe 128, the Hayflick limit, … or if a Ray Kurzweil fan then this is a Moot Point … ps- Food is Chemical Information: - Food is a “General Term”, in reality it is chemical information for the body and our microbiome and each molecule of food has the potential to be a building block, an antagonist, and directly interact with DNA, and mitochondrial RNA. Humans are 1 Million Genes, 4.5 Trillion base pairs, and only 23,000 genes, 2% are human, or 3 Billion base pairs. ps some Brilliant Points -

I really enjoyed the episode. But the constant interjections and interruptions by Dr. Hyman are distracting and disruptive. This isn't a personal conversation but an interview. The guest should be able to speak for more than 1.5 seconds without his own words being immediately repeated constantly back to him. Your new to podcasting. Off to a good start. Please do work on stipping the disruptive "I am paying attention" interjections of daily conversation during podcasts.
