what is rather surprising for its type is fact that wakfu covers rather serious topic per each season. In other words characters aren t black and white, all main "bad guys" had good reasoning for their actions. However something that I missed and I would like to know is how did dragon egg-s made into the world after end of season 2. While we can assume that most of them were hidden around the world still one egg was in another dimension with cube.
@Hawkwood2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, their villains are amazingly complex. I love that they did that in a kids show. All of the Dofus stuff is confusing because of the different types of eggs. I honestly can't keep track.
@goofyahhduck46542 жыл бұрын
@@Hawkwood their villains are very well developed. Surprisingly more developed then most Japanese anime villians. Nox the villain for season 1, was given the Eli cube, which distorted and desensitized his mind. He lost his family in the process, and for the last 200 years, he was collecting wakfu, draining and consuming life in the process, just so he can’t turn back time to see his family again. Qilby, villain for season 2, was more complex. Every time he dies, he remembers his pass life when reincarnating. It was driving him nuts. He stole the Elia cube from organax and the mechasims. That led to the war between eliatropes and the mechasims. He led to the death of his people, luckily, the adult eliatropes sacrificed their energy into sending the children of the next generation, into a dimension cut off from time and space. Yugo, banished him into a dimension with nothing but a infinite white space for thousands of years. Kinda like the white room torture, but the room is never ending, and goes as far as it goes. That, like reincarnating over and over again and knowing your past memories in each reincarnation, drived him MAD NUTS. So yea, the villains for wakfu are surprisingly better than most Japanese villains I know. Most of the villains in Japanese animes don’t even she’s reason for what they do. They just do it cause they wanna do it lol

Wakfu was kinda "forced" to be episodic by the french television channel, Ankama was more in favour of a streamlined plot, but they wanted it to be episodic to appeal to a younger audience that won't often catch up so easy if they miss an episode or two, meaning it can be watched in almost any order. This was through season 1 and 2, but once they went digital for Season 3 and the OVAs that connected 2 and 3 and went to Netflix, THATS when you could tell they were free to tell a more mature, action-packed and deeper storyline where more risked themes took place like a character getting DISMEMBERED or GIVING BIRTH! Judging by the trailer of season 4, things are gonna get preeeeeeetty darker. Regarding the game, Ankama is now developing a THIRD game for the franchise called Waven, with an open beta happening THIS LATE SUMMER, and it's gonna be the same kind of MMO but streamlined for casual playing and mobile multi-platform compatibility. As someone who tested 4 alphas of it.... it's. A TON. OF FUN!

Very nice video! It's a shame that it's so underrated... It's quite annoying how most English videos talking about wakfu get no traction at all. The French vids gets more views but not much at all either Which is a shame because the Krosmoz universe is something I've only seen been made by Ankama. There are other shows with transmediatic franchises but they're not as expansive as the Krosmoz

Something I liked about the show is that for most of the villains Yugo the main character is not the sole reason for their defeat. Unlike other most other shows especially during the time that it was made the main character is capable of doing anything. But here the majority of the time they win because of teamwork and the villains madness.
@miser2570 Жыл бұрын
Sure is interesting, since, they dont even defeat the first villain at all. Nox objective was doomed from the start, and so thats what ultimately ends him, off camera. Qilby hasnt been really defeated, and i guess S4 may give an end to his story by the kickstarter trailer. And Orobo wasnt defeated, he was convinced into his own death in the last moment before his victory, Arcanum oSaMO style. Thou i guess in a way, this series muddles the meaning of "victory" that many other shows treat more literally.
@phantom9831 Жыл бұрын
Yeah Yugo is still a kid, and, in réality, he didn't defeat Nox or Qilby, he wasn't even a match for them, Nox just lost hope and killed himself after failing to go back in time, and Shinonome was the one that really stopped Qilby to let Yugo imprison him again Another cool thing in Wakfu is that the antagonists have understandable motivations, and we can even wish that they succeed, (if Nox was able to go in the past, we would be happy for him, and all the Bad things he did, wouldn't happen) and that can even make us wonder if the protagonists point of view is right, when thinking about it, Yugo "defeated" Nox and Qilby mostly because they attacked the one that were close to him, even if he also did it to defend for example the sadida Kingdom

The simplest bits of animation were done in cut out animation, but the more complex, action oriented and / or with forced perspective, it would be hand drawn and then traced in flash. So it's not all cut out. And some of the animators at Ankama have worked in Japan on such things like Totoro or Naruto. So go ahead, call it anime.

I was aware of the MMO but didn't care much for turn-based games so I didn't know anything about the lore and such. However, I loved the animation and character designs. The story and humor were fun and certainly not the norm for traditional US cartoons. I immediately fell in love, discovered Dofus and was fortunate enough to be a backer on the Wakfu Kickstarter campaign. The English dub was a massive disappointment but still, to have it on Blu Ray and the 2 OAV's was well worth it anyway. Looking forward to Season 4 and maybe I'll check out their new MMO.

As a Tv Tropes reader, i'm know this Animesque French Cartoon because thanks to Tv Tropes (alongside with any other underrated Franchise like Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf, Happy Heroes, Noonbory, Kaeloo, the King of Fighters, Touhou Project, Puyo Puyo, Homestar Runner, El Goonish Shive, Girl Genius, Jimmy Two Shoes, Doraemon, and Samurai Deeper Kyo until i'm know that because i'm reading that on TV Tropes in 2023)

Enjoyed the video, would love to hear more on dofus or wakfu :)

This was recommended to me because I've always played dofus and wakfu off and on and sometimes I Google stuff about it. Got to say, your video had me laughing out loud several times. Good job. I learned there's a lot of show stuff I haven't seen and I need to look up. Watched season 3 of the show though and it was a little jarring how every voice actor changed. But still kept that somewhat strangely inappropriate tone at times 😂

Wakfu has it ups and downs a lot of them by that might be just because I’ve watched it like 5 times and none of the episodes surprise me anymore

I love the show and have played Dofus touch, I don’t know how I didn’t know about other content. It’s time to pick up a new language

What about “the quest for the six elitrope dofus”

from the intro of the anime, i assumed Wakfu was a tiny platformer with an incredibly more interesting anime that took over the popularity. i might actually look more into the MMOs. They look adorable.
