The thing I love about WDO is that it rewards you for figuring out its secrets. Because it's still being made, if you find a hidden spectrogram or something, the next episode will insert the complete spectrogram to show you that, yes, you weren't seeing things. But Tex will only do that *_if you found the spectrogram._* He's very interactive with the fans in that way. He doesn't talk in the comments, he will just confirm things in the next upload once people figure it out. I really like that.
@williamkegg4479 ай бұрын
So he chooses to limit the output of the story based on interaction...? That just seems like a way to guarantee something gets missed, lmao Edit: Yes I know what an ARG is, I just think waiting to release all the pieces of a puzzle is silly for a couple of reasons. What if you don't have the energy to finish the project? Leave everyone in the dark?? Man that's awesome, make a story everyone loves then kill it in the cradle like so many others. What if you lose the files? The video gets corrupted in a way you can't turn around for aesthetic? There's just so much working against that way of storytelling. I'm not saying he has to finish the project before uploading it or anything, I'm just saying having SOME of the puzzle available and not ALL of it is a great way for people to either lose interest over time or get frustrated with the lack of new content. Other ARGs might not be "complete" yet, and that's fine, but if their content is only tiny fragments at a time that won't make a big picture until like a year from now, leave us out of it until it's all done. I don't want to put effort in just for it to be an ambiguous ending that asks more questions than it answers. Mysteries get incredibly boring when they drag on where they don't have to, and a lot of ARG creators seem to think the mystery not having a conclusion is awesome cuz its more mysterious; not really. It just makes finding the pieces and putting them together extremely tedious since the "answer" you get isn't an answer, but just another mystery that may or may not have a solution.

@@williamkegg447 This is a pretty normal way to run an arg. It helps if you the creator of the arg like a dungeon master. They're their to craft the story and drop the hints for the players, but ultimately the players do need to actually solve the puzzles or piece together the clue for the story to progress. It's a balancing act, but generally if a key clue or piece of information isn't solved, additional materials, puzzles and hints are created to nudge players in the right direction. As an example, Marble hornets had a few road bumps. The biggest being cryptogram that stumped the community for weeks, even with additional clues. If I'm remembering correctly, the creator even got into contact with professional cryptographers and they couldn't even crack it. Had to pretend to solve it in character.

We had CD Projekt RED carry the crown until the shareholders decided to gamble the prestige of the company. It took a beating but I think they're recovering, and I hope it doesn't happen again; it's difficult enough to get Eastern European stuff noticed, appreciated, and ultimately loved. Because other than that we're kinda stuck dragging Bloober Team around behind us. I'm not...exactly enamored with their output and they don't give Poland the best representation in my opinion.

I was definitely born at a time where the transition from VHS to DVD was starting to go hard, but that still took a while to reach us as country and family, I reckon, so I personally still have a lot of VHS tapes that I refuse to let go of (especially my Jurassic Park 1 & 2 boxset and my E.T. tape), even if we can't actually watch them anymore because we have nothing to play them on, and quite a few are scratched at places. So seeing all that work you put into making your own tapes much like some folks bind their own book versions of stuff like fanfic or web published novels and short stories? Love that so much, best of lucks with that little venture!

If its helpful as a tip: if you dont know how to pronounce a foreign word or name (like French in this case), you can google “French to English” and google translate with those two languages should show up. If you copy paste that text into the French text box, a speakerphone button on the bottom should show you the pronunciation. It works alright with most languages but id be careful using it with Japanese bc Kanji are not phonetic and sometimes counterintuitive (use katakana and hiragana/phonetic scripts with those instead)
