Why just describe scripture? Tell us HOW to share in his resurrection, sufferings, etc. After about five minutes, you sound like Charlie Browns parents.

I'll reply. But I don't think that was kind. The letter John Piper explained was addressed to the 'mature.' Most Christians who've learned through the Word of God and have been walking with Jesus (we all grow at different paces) know what the "how" means. Most believers in Christ will go through suffering and trials, some to the point of death. But God always has a purpose for them. Just as Jesus was spat upon, insulted, humiliated, lied about, abandoned by those who were closest to Him, tempted, berated, betrayed, and ultimately suffered death, we must have the same mindset to endure the same through humility. It is the power of His resurrection (the Holy Spirit) that gives us power to withstand it. The apostles also shared in Christ's sufferings as they all endured a lot suffering themselves. All of them (except John) were eventually martyred for Jesus. *_The How_* - "Humble yourself before the LORD, and He will lift you up." Christians should not respond to trials and persecution through evil impulses of the flesh, but through humility and even thanksgiving towards the Lord. When someone degrades us because we are followers of Jesus, we are considered blessed, Jesus said. We are not to lash out or get angry to the point of rebelling against the Lord. Rather, our minds should be fixed on Christ and emulate Him in suffering. Jesus humbled Himself, so too we learn the same as our minds are daily renewed. That's how we grow. That's also why it is so important to study the Scriptures and put on the full armor of God... The more you do, the more you'll understand the Lord's will, be able to withstand temptation, and actually have joy in the midst of persecution, trials, or suffering. Hope this helps.
