When the pandemic hit back in 2020 I had only 3k in emergency funds and this was scary. Thank God for work from home. I looked into my spending habits. Living in an apartment I stopped using the washer and driers. Started washing my laundry and drying it in my apart on a clothing rack. Cooked all my meals. Thank God malls were closed. I refused to shop on line. Canceled every subscription. By the end of 2020 I had saved 25k. I kept up with the savings even when things opened up I was so used to my inexpensive was of living. I have saved 30K. I keep it going.

Wow!🏆There are small "portable" washers, some more automatic than others. They hook up to your regular faucet and your regular electric plugs. Clothes come out exceptional dry, I was surprised. Have an indoor laundry rack. Also if your apartment has a no clothesline-rule, you can just clothespin smaller items to the back of a lawn chair :)

Your channel came through my feed and wise advice young lady. I'm an old lady who has lived this for decades and it works. My hubby and I will come alongside people who are struggling and many who live below the poverty line. And those who sacrificed and worked their fingers to the bone (for a while the bone part.) Are the ones who transformed their lives. So I appreciate you giving me another tool to share. Last comment for the young, look for a wise older woman, couple who want to pass on their wisdom and come alongside you. We've done stupid and have learned many lessons. God's Word has a lot to say about finances and it works.

Nice video. I found that by living a simple, yet enjoyable life will result in a steady stream of savings. Examples: Watch movies at home instead of in theaters. Or, better yet, get out of the house/apt and take a walk and mingle with humanity and enjoy the outdoors and watch a sunset; Make your own coffee, or get it at McDonald's instead of Starbucks; dress simply and tastefully instead of wearing expensive clothing brands, as generic clothing will keep you just as warm and comfortable as the expensive clothes. Eat more at home healthily and cut down on junk food and expensive meals at overrated restaurants. And the lists goes on and on. Where it stops depends on how much you want to save. The beauty of these suggestions is that you don't have to do without, but just better choices.
@robyndismon3944 жыл бұрын
As informative and insightful as this video is some people have NO idea what a 'basic necessity' actually IS. For instance I know a few women who will valet park no matter what, hair appointments, manicures and pedicures, happy hour, don't even start with Starbucks, buying prepared foods as opposed 2 cooking from scratch, driving an extra 30 miles or more 2 run errands as opposed 2 creating a plan to save on gas. The list is just endless. I've said all of that 2 say this. Sometimes the first step 4 specific persons is 2 sit down with a pragmatic realist. They r experts at helping find ways 2 cut back or save money. They can also assess a need from a want objectively. Great content!

I know a ton of men who spend hundreds of dollars on sport event tickets, thousands on new or expensive cars, sometimes multiple cars, and fishing boats and stuff. I agree that a lot of people don't understand what a "basic necessity" actually is.

If you don't admit that you have a spending problem none of this steps will help you. People live way beyond their means! They eat out, shop carelessly, feel entitled, have no common sense about spending, don't save for emergencies, take vacations by charging their credit cards. If they decide to receive money management counseling than they may improve. Their are several reasons why people spend, it could be self soothing, grief, loneliness, depression etc.

It's very nice video. Thank you so much. Yes I agree, the emergency fund is very important. Bec. we need a cash flow in whatever emergency situation. Because not all in the institution will accept a credit card to pay especially in paying taxes in govt. or the renewal of my driver's licence or car registration annually. Better be ready, our energency fund than nothing to save, even just 50$ every pay check. It's has a saying one million dollars can't be completed if it's missing of one dollar bill. This is how I appreciate the value of saving.

I have savings I cannot touch and a 2k overdraft for emergency use only. I get my car serviced to avoid any sort of mechanical issue and visit the dentist for checkups. I learned the hard way about my car and teeth, as they contributed to some of my debts. I took out a loan to consolidate the debts, and once this is paid off, I will start another savings account. I don't shop and avoid the malls. I will check the opportunity and thrift shops first to replace things when they are worn out and I buy quality items on sale or marketplace. Recently started upcycling furniture as a hobby and then realised I can make money on the side doing up small pieces to resell. I like the idea of setting a goal to save 10k in a year so that is the next video I am going to watch.

@@Clevergirlfinance A few years ago, I got help from a budget advisor who works for the Salvation Army- He saw so many people in horrible situations, debt in the tens of thousands and no way out of it. He taught a seminar style where he taught us about how credit works, how to reduce debt by snowballing smaller debts and personal loans from friends were paid back first. Then he gave us a formula to stick to. 70% of income on living costs (not just rent) then 20% on debt reduction 10% savings. He also told us if your rent is too expensive, downsize or get boarders. I started an Airbnb with a spare room and charged a good nightly rate. He also told us that no church should ask for tithes from people live at below the breadline level of poverty and that you don't need to explain or feel guilty for saying no. They should be helping you in the first instance.

@@riseupbloom9836hello, I downsized …my rent is the lowest that it can be for the market. I also am blessed to live in a safe environment for such low rent. I just have nothing to be frugal with. All my income goes to bills, I don’t eat out, i don’t go out.. unless where I’m going is free. I don’t shop for extra items, just food, laundry and gas. I have one credit card that I barely use.
@riseupbloom98362 жыл бұрын
@ReneetrustsGod hello, it sounds like you’ve done everything YOU know you can do and you’ve done a good job doing that. I emphasize you because you are limited, as we all our by what I call “ The tint of our window” meaning you can’t see (options) beyond what you’ve already done, and what you think you can or cannot do. I called that being stuck or at least feeling stuck. And that doesn’t feel good. I observe two things. First, you ended your initial comment with “Please Help” which is your obvious cry for help, and second, I can’t help but notice your moniker, Renee trust God. So I’m assuming ( not good to do ,I know ) and willing to err on the side that you are a woman of faith. With that being said, it appears that your faith is what you need to call upon to get you unstuck . Faith to believe that you were not meant to live just to survive and pay your bills, faith to believe that there is an option beyond what you see or think. Faith to believe that God has a door that is just for you to open that can change your life. I share this from the “Tint of My Window” having been stuck at different times in my 64.5 years of a blessed life ( that has included struggle), and God presented options I did know or imagine that changed my life. I say all of this because I don’t know you but would want you to thrive and not just survive in your life. I believe that is what you want for yourself. ❤️

Credit Unions are much better than banks for general purposes but ideally, for an emergency fund, I’d recommend a high yield savings account, wherever that might be.
