It took me finding your channel to fall into a food plan that worked for me. Personally, that's high protein, moderate/low fat, low carb. 115lbs gone and staying gone.

I like how you break this down. I've got the same food addiction. If i restrict too much, I'll binge out of control and then feel miserable.

I lost my weight the same way you did. I went low carb and low fat. I didn’t believe you needed to add fat, oils and cheeses to your diet to lose weight. I also believed the less fat you ate would force your body to burn the fat you already have. Low carb, low fat and high fiber is the way to go. I lost 75 pounds in two years and able to maintain that weight loss.

Thank you. I started on my journey last June 2023 and have lost 50 pounds. I agree with everything you say. Keto is Ketosis, not a food group. I am to keep the carbs below 50 grams a day. I started with my wife following the Fast 800 Keto Plan in the UK. We still follow it. It allows us to choose what we eat in moderation. Our lifestyle has improved because of it. I am glad I found your channel.

Sorry I’m late to the party lol. The last time I did a keto plan was over 10 years ago. I am so excited to see all of the new product and be able to physically test to see if something is affecting. Your glucose is priceless. This is the tool I’ve always needed to keep me going because I’ve always trusted the labels in supermarkets. It’s funny because every time I talk to my mom about being in a keto lifestyle her responses I like vegetables too much. I don’t think there’s any vegetable you can’t eat. And there’s many fruits that are lower in carbohydrates. And there’s plenty of substitutions. I don’t get it. Why people have this mindset it’s tunnel vision.

What you say is so true Kristi! Keto is a metabolic state. When I stared keto about 5 years ago, there was little information out on the web. My main focus was to cut out the sugar (M&Ms, doughnuts and pie) and all types of grains. When I could walk past the bakery section in the grocery store and ignore all the candy in the checkout aisle, I knew I had made it. I have lost over 100+ pounds and still have more to go, but a lot of medical issues that I had have cleared up and I consider this a lifestyle, not a diet. I have seen a lot of people successfully lose weight by doing what their body needs. So some do very low carb, some do higher carb. It is just finding what works for you.

You are so right Kristi, I started in clean Keto, but low fat as I have no gallbladder, now I am more low carb, I'm pretty much totally sedentary and have lost over 60 pounds so far.

You are very wise, Kristi. After many years of Keto, low carb, etc. I have found my favorite. I do low carb and high protein. Couldn't go carnivore, although that seems to be the trend these days. That is what works for me. I also track (just because I like doing it, believe it or not). Try for 100 gm. protein and 20 net carbs. Of course, I often go off a little. I do like fresh veggies. Your way of no strict protocol works, as far as I am concerned. Everyone has to find their own way of eating.

I like to keep cooked hamburger patties and bacon in my fridge to snack on. But I also like to keep salad mix on hand as well. *gasp* 😂 Taco salads, chef salads, grilled chicken salads. I like them all. lol

You’re awesome Kristi. I knew all this but it’s so nice to hear someone who’s used Keto correctly share their testimony. So many people get all wound up on the right and wrong of keto. Enjoy the lifestyle and watch your body change. Great vlog. Thanks

Great great, I eat pretty much what I want while keeping my carb count low as possible from chicken (wings mostly), beef, salmon, etc oh yes my favorite in the morning is of course bacon/eggs. I tried to follow this strict thing and life was miserable a bit, then decided to find what works for me and totally sustainable and life is good in this space!

My favorite low carb foods are eggs, pork rinds, ground venison

Bacon is probably my favorite low carb food. I like to make it in the oven until it’s crispy and use it instead of chips if I have a dip or something. 😊

I dislike the keto police. I try to stay in ketosis but as I get older it is harder. I find I don’t care for a lot of meat. I do love short ribs and brisket but those are ridiculously high priced. I prefer sausages, hotdogs, low fat/low sodium spam, Vienna sausages, tuna and all sea food especially shellfish. I love dairy and will not give it up. I love the veggies you mentioned but I also really love cauliflower. I love nuts. I need my choc zero products…..in moderation. I have hypoglycemia so I stay away from real sugar and high starch food. Thank you for this video. I love how you tell it like it is. ❤ God bless.

You are spot on Kristi! I’m not “good enough” to do carnivore or keto as per the “keto police”! I aim to keep my carbs as low as possible! I don’t worry about the fat/protein balance per se. I don’t really like most veg although I enjoy an occasional salad. I love eggs and cheese and low carb sausage and bacon and mince (you call it ground meat) and I like spicy and stronger flavours. Love low carb chilli or stew meat or curried meat over crunchy salad - the mix of hot and cold and chewy and crunchy is brilliant! Finally I do need some sweet treats and some crispy treats (it’s a texture thing) - I need a crunchy base for some cheese. Thank you so much for your sensible approach. Roll on keto sis! 😂. ❤

I had gastric bypass surgery 5 years ago, it was what I needed to get healthy. I have about 20lbs bounce back weight gain that I would like to take off. Your videos help me as I relate to your struggle. My provider also suggests a low carb life style , with 80 grams of protein.
@michellewilson122111 ай бұрын
I have about 25 bounce back weight to get rid of. I eat less than 1500 cals a day but it just isnt doing anything... and I definitely cannot go back to the extreme deficit we were at after surgery. I am starting to play with my carbs to see how low I need to go to trigger weight loss. Do you have a set amount of grams you try to keep too daily? I am starting with 100 with 80-100 grams of protein.

You do a good job. It’s not just keeping carbs low. You are what you eat. Processed food is junk. Try to minimize junk food to build a healthy body, nails, and hair.
@SouthernKristi11 ай бұрын
I agree that if your goal is a healthier lifestyle, ya need to eliminate junk. But my goal was only weight loss so getting into ketosis was the point. And keto=ketosis NOT any specific food😉

Question - when you say 'no food is off limits" is that really true? Isn't sugar off limits? I would assume you couldn't eat a dingdong and be in ketosis, or am I wrong? Is there a number that you need to keep carbs under to stay in ketosis or is this different for everyone as well?

Keto is a dietary lifestyle choice, not a religion although some want to treat it like one, complete with the "thou shalt nots". Just do it the best you can or want and ignore the keto perfectionist priests.

So we can get into ketosis only by keeping the carbs low? How does one know they're in ketosis?
@SouthernKristi9 ай бұрын
They have created monitors, like blood glucose monitors but you can get urine strips. Those work well when you first start out.
