I think your model of dissociation is a little different. I have watched the females in my family (who were coercively controlled by abusers) dissociate and I wouldn't call any of this a keeping on keeping on. They gone-gone. Dissociation is a dorsal vegal shut down. The 5th trauma response on the Kathy Steel model is the cry for help - but this is the ventral vegal reaching out response. You in this video - for me is the functional freeze - keep on keeping on - ignore the abusers in your environment response.

Thank you for sharing these insights. Dissociation is such a complex experience and can look different depending on the depth and nature of trauma responses-everything from functional freeze to more profound dorsal vagal shutdown, as you mention. Each individual’s experience is unique, and I truly appreciate your thoughtful reference to Kathy Steele’s model and the distinctions within the vagal states. Recognizing these layers can be so helpful as we work to offer the most compassionate, effective support. 💗💗
