Tough being a cowboys fan and seeing so much recency bias and how Rush is the guy and McCarthy is suddenly the coach of the future. A lot of people point to how much “better” this team is but look at the teams they’ve been playing compared to early in the season. Giants, Bengals, Commanders, Panthers and Bucs are not elite teams (2 of those have top 10 picks at the moment). But funny how quickly they forget about eagles and Texans whooping on them. AND it’s not like they blew those teams out of the water in the wins. Commanders were a fluky scoring 4th Quarter and Bucs came down to a last minute force fumble by the D not the 3 and out from the offense that was literally all the offense did in the 4th quarter. Any objective person can see the correlation between the offense playing “better” is the return of Bland and Parsons and the defense getting turnovers and giving the offense a short field to score. Let’s not easily forget how bad this team still is in scoring in the red zone. Just last week Rush fumbled again in the red zone against the panthers. I do agree with the fact that they shouldn’t have paid Dak that much money. But anyone can clearly see Rush is a far inferior player to Dak. We shouldn’t let his salary blind us to the fact that he was 2nd in MVP voting. Even Romo in his best year never got that close so there’s value in that.

The problem is Jerry and CB think because of his salary he gotta throw 35 40 time. Change plays when just run the ball or take what the defense give you. Dak is the problem and the lack of talent from off-season.

Difference is that there is nothing to play for. Lesser competition and defense creating turnovers. Offensive of line looks good compared to the beginning, run game has been consistently effective. Where was this defense beginning of the season? Saints scored 5 straight TD’s, Baltimore running for over 200, Detroit doing whatever.

Well you have a new coordinator and now he knows the personnel more . Tampa’s and Cincys offense are two of the best offenses in the league . The difference in the run game is they are not trying to force feed the worst running back in the league (Zeke ) 10-12 carries a game . That alone allows defenses to actually account for the run and receivers can get open , you can use play action .

I would’ve never signed Dak to the highest contract in history mainly because he’s not mobile at all anymore but I would never say rush is a better option at qb . The change in this offense came when they sat Zeke down . And for the past 5 years the cowboys have gained a yard and a half more per carry when Zeke isn’t on the field. He’s been the problem with this offense. Also yes the competition has been softer but the team is playing much better …imma give them props for it . Even as a guy who was saying tank and play lance as well . They’ve stayed the course and have put a good product on the field the last 2 months

Coaching is not the problem with this team. Do, it really does not matter who you bring. Keep Mike as it looks like the players really like him and want to play hard for him. Which, could be a turning point with this team.

But thats using the assumption that the players wouldnt play hard for another coach, which you know isnt true. Its not about playing hard, its about X's and O's, teams playing like they are prepared, and good game management. Those have been missing in almost every game against good teams in Mikes tenure here. Everyone wants to bash Dak for only playing well against weaker teams, fine, but the fact is that hes signed now and we are in bed with him for atleast two more years. We need a head coach that brings out the best in Dak, and can get the guy over the hump. Mike hasnt done that, so you need to atleast try some other approach.

Bobby makes it seem like the Cowboys were running the ball for 7 yards a clip. They were literally running into a brick wall. He opened up and especially in the 1st half they hit on many things. This idea that he was running plays different to audition makes no sense

These wins are terrible. Cowboys are easily in worst position in NFC east, maybe league. Worst qb situation by miles. Gonna pay 3 guys half of salary cap. Absolutely no future and ruining draft position.

I agree with Bobby. McCarthy was basically thumbing his nose at all his critics. I thought here we go. Throwing with Rush instead of running with Rico. Limiting Rico's touches and giving touches to Turpin and Zeke! Still stubbornly passing instead of running in short yardage situations. It was a gamble and fortunately, Rush delivered for him. That's why I don't trust or want him back. Contrary to the results, he's going to do it his way. And saying that Rico needed to stop deferring to Zeke, as the reason why he wasn't being used more early in the season, was a ridiculous lie. He was the one deferring to everyone else but Rico. Took him out the game again last night. I still want him gone, but Jerry wants him to stay. Crap!

There’s a good amount of options out there. You just gotta look and have a bunch of interviews. Ben Johnson is gonna be a hot pick, Bobby slowick with the Texans is a guy you could be interested in. Mike vrabel is an established HC, Brian Flores, the ravens OC, other DC that could be worth looking at. You have to actually interview more than 4 guys. I’ll ask you this, what has Big Mike done this year to make us believe extending him is the correct way to go.

@ the first half of the season our D was getting manhandled which threw everything off. All the injuries plus not having good depth due to FO not taking enough initiative to address it really hurt the team. I really don’t think having a Defensive minded would be a good thing. Slowick has done what exactly?? Bottom line is the FO will not hire an inexperienced HC who has never made it to a conference championship game. This is why MM is probably still the best option.

@@vicn1349 my counter point to hiring a guy that hasn’t been to a CC, is all of the top head coaches in the league right now were once OC or DC. I mean Matt Lefluer wasn’t anything special in TN and arrived in GB and has been great, Sean Mcvey, Kyle Shanahan, Mitch McConnell, Miami’s HC, amongst other Defensive mind sets have worked well for their respective franchises. Yes Big Mike did get dealt a bad hand this year with the FO and lack of FA moves; however, his previous 3 years were marked by good season results with little playoff success, and with this being a failure even with all of the bad luck, I don’t not believe running it back with McCarthy is a viable option. I do not know if the Cowboys will do a HC search, but if you want to do a real search, then you have to look further than just previous HC experience because you will miss out on good options just like the ones I listed above
