I just started muay thai 3 hours a day 5 days a week been at it 4 weeks now when should i start sparring. I dont want to get injured to soon . I want to learn the basic and how to protect myself properly. Should i try after 3 to 6 months muay thai is very demanding i do some kick boxing in between also .

Firstly, find a right partner. Secondly, practice sparring DRILLS. Lastly, do light sparring with least damage to the head.

When you get the basics right. Ask your coach when he thinks you ready and sparring does not have to be hard. Look at how the thais sparr they just focusing on technique and keep the power very low. Better to sparr more often with low power but with speed and technique then not often with high power
