As a mom of 4 boys, i dont encourage my boys to look up to any human being, my husband encourages them look to godly elders, pastors, and men in your own life who speak the truth of the word. Work hard and love the Lord and habe good community. I think its always dangerous to look up to any one person. Thats how you end up devastated.

I agree, I feel as though it’s good to be inspired by certain aspects of what people show… yet we should only look up to Jesus or God. Mainly because even a pastor is a man of this world, even he isn’t above temptations or can be used by the devil if he were weak in the spirit. I was raised in the church as a pk and I saw how certain pastors would manipulate the word of God to fit their personal agendas. It reminds me of the Pharisee’s, they were respected members of the church… yet you would’ve thought that they would’ve been the ones to respect/follow Jesus… instead they moved and judged as if they were the highest authority Jehovah himself.

The problem for some blacks people is the history of the Evangelical church . It was very racist and kept blacks out if church so blacks made their own church and traditions. Still till this day Sunday is the most segregated time for Christian’s . There are multi culture churches but not nearby enough.

There have been injustices since the beginning and the world will never "be fair" compensating people for the past injustices would open Pandora's box to so many other things. A) the animosity would only grow b) do we now seek retribution from the families in Africa that were complicit out of greed c) do the injustices to the Native Americans then come after everyone. The reality is man has always been this way. And retribution never works out well. Here's an example. After world war 1 there were extremely harsh penalties laid upon Germany. Those penalties led to poverty and citizens that wanted a way out of that situation and they got frustrated and angry and turned to a horrible person named Hitler. Many people believe the levies against Germany after WW1 led to WW2.

Put in another way...the man that saves the abused woman may not receive the same retribution as the abused woman. The gift for him is in accomplishing his goal of saving her. I had went to a church with a mixed congregation but still mostly white. Whit guy wanted to ask me how he could make things right from a godly perspective as far as people in the inner cities. I told him my thoughts but then ended with I find grow up in the inner city or know anything about the hood in general. He continued to talk to me like I was from the streets. That’s how out of touch yal are. You don’t know how to listen to black folk from a secular or godly perspective. Yal just don’t listen period
