The emperor is supposed to already be immortal but the throne is locking him in place giving the term "living corpse" a very true meaning. If a ghost shows up to the emperor and tries to revive him either nothing happens, he is revived very easily with little effort or is revived with the cost of the traveler fussing with the emperor and making a new chaos god with enough power to wreck the other gods. This gives 2 out of 3 paths that put humanity on top of EVERYTHING. Tyrnids, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Necrons, Chaos, Orks even Korks nothing i really mean nothing could stop humanity if the Guardians and Space Marines combine under the light of the Traveler and the God Emperor. The Chaos Gods not being able to permanently die would just make them a farmable loot drop for guns.

the fun thing about things being turned into guardians is that for the most part (excluding the hive in destiny), the ghost will bring that guardian to the last city to train. so take any collection of warhammer 40k races you would never see working together under normal circumstances and put them in a fire team, and by the rules of this cross over and the two lores working together. Yes it could happen. dark eldar, an ork, and a tau? yes. a space marine, a tyranid bioform cut off from the hivemind, and a necron who was formerly a single skull? no problem!

@@rachnussouldrinkerlibraria5640 oh it wouldn't just be the necrontir being brought back. it would even bring back the necron's themselves. ghost's do not care from what they rez, only that the thing they rez meets a list of criteria we have no idea about. the only reason we don't have guardians of other species officially in game is because bungie are cowards who don't want to put in the effort to make cabal, eliksni, hive, or vex guardian options.

Remember, you can still become a guardian without dying first. Ex. Shin Malphur. He took up his adoptive fathers ghost and gun to avenge him. And he still has his past memories.

Eh, kinda. Shin actually died in the arms of his parents during a Fallen attack as a very small child, but was rezzed by an unknown Ghost that immediately afterwards drew the Fallen away and was destroyed. Many years later, Shin apparently was able to bond with his mentor's Ghost and became a proper Guardian, but both the mentor and this Ghost sensed the Light within him as soon as they met. So... it's complicated 😅

Shin Malphut became a guardian as a child through a Ghost that figured nothing embodies hope and potential more than a child. His Ghost got destroyed tho, and the Ghost that travels with him afaik isn’t able to res him.

ooh, I didn't even consider the emperor... its definitely possible I'd say. Savathun was resurrected by a ghost, so I don't see any reason it wouldn't work on the big E. Only problem then would be the memory wipe. Speaking of the memory wipe, I find it hilarious to think about that there would be a guardian who has everyone in the imperium obeying him and he doesn't know why lol

I don't know how accurate it is (I am not too well versed in 40k lore) but in the emperor has a text to speech he says his mind was split into many pieces scattered across the warp so if he could get those back it might be possible to restore his memory similar to savathun.

I don't think memory loss would be a problem for Big E. in the lore is established that: 1 his mind is scattered like everywhere and therefore he could recall it if he became conscious again and 2 technically big E is already reincarnated (if I remember correctly he was born from shamans who essentially chose to reincarnate in one and in doing so they have lost their memories but in a certain sense the purpose of their existence is engraved in the soul, so as long as this remains big it also remains) Last consideration, although it is an interesting discussion, I don't think that the God Emperor needs light, maybe the space marines do but I don't know how much he can benefit from it, perhaps for the issue of immortality but for the rest I find that the powers of the guardians are a little weak compared to his.

​@@kevin29121993the potential powers of the guardians far surpass a lot of things in warhammer40k,I do believe the light would help big E to the point where big E would literally become so absurdly powerful,he would probably go toe to toe to any of the chaos gods and literally smite them out of existence ,not to mention he probably could share the healing capabilities of the light on such mass scale (because he is big E),that literally the imperium would be immune to diseases/corruption,which you could argue straight up warp immunity to all of humanity, while they still have the idea of the warp existence, overall big E with the light would be infinitely more powerful than big E without the light

Scenario 1 is kinda the most likely one. It has been said that after having his body destroyed and serving as a battery for 10k years, the consciousness of the emperor, while still technically there, it has been shattered into fragments which is why in reality he isn't there anymore. However, there are occasions when he can put his mind together just enough to communicate, most of the time it is only a little to give vague visions to the custodes, however, there was this one time when he was conscious enough to take over the body of one of his sons and then have a short conversation with him afterwards.

@@Buster-McTunder Ahzek Ahriman is possibly the greatest psyker mage in 40K. He has some complicated goals he seeks to achieve and there is great nobility in him that can be seen in glimpses. He serves Tzeentch the changer of ways and is his unknowing champion. His goals are to revive his brothers and restore them to full life. As such he is currently hunting down Yvraine the current leader of the Ynnari and his chosen avatar. The Ynarri serve the Eldar god of death and have the powers to restore life to the dead, as well as rob the energy of those they reap. Ahzek Ahriman has a bunch of short stories and a couple novels dedicated to him. So anyway, this Light would be of interest to him and he is fully capable of unleashing incredible armies along with the daemonic hosts of Tzeentch. Just hope none of his enemies encounter the fires of change. Fires of change/ flames of change can corrupt any living material, (and unliving depending on the whims of chaos), into horrific monstrosities. It causes the flesh change. Flesh change being every living cell in your body either becoming sentient or daemons taking control of bits and pieces. Its like John Carpenters The Thing made into a weapon.

He was already a combat monster but what would happen with the Red Thirst and Black Rage added on to the powers of a Guardian, given the Ghosts erases all memories of the previous life and the Black Rage is the memories of Sanguinius's final moments?

It would become a new subclass and the black rage would be a super whilst the red thirst would be the main components of that subclass. Any other guardian of that class will then be able to unlock it and that particular Guardian will become Legend. After all, the light, The Traveler, and the ghost protect the Guardians from mind control, and all other forms of corruption. Now if the ghost is suppressed, or even destroyed, then the that guardian would fall to it heavily, and those physical buffs the traveler gave them is an actual permanent one too, so then it’d be very bad.

Two things. One. If a Ghost chooses you to wield the Light, you wield it and come back. There's no ifs or buts about it. That's how it is. The scenario where the God-Emperor can't come back is not happening. You just do come back. Two. For this, I'd like put up a scenario that would be possibly unlikely. 1. The Last City and the IoM are allies and the God-Emperor is now gifted with the Light. Everyone in the IoM will be livid. No question. Their God-Emperor has just come back with powers that exceed his previous life but also no memories of who he was and what he did. He has his powers plus the Light but the IoM would be pissed. It would be similar to an assassination but the leader is a whole new person like what happened to Phineas Gage. What the God-Emperor does here depends on who gets him first or which side he chooses. 1a. The God-Emperor sides with the Last City. In this situation, either the IoM will accept the state of affairs but not like it. Sure, they'll hate the fact that the God-Emperor is now a Guardian but (please correct me if I'm wrong) they'll follow him. In an unlikely (check me on this) case, the IoM will fight the God-Emperor and the Last City. This is concerning to me deeply. Greatly. Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the IoM. On our own, it'll be a tug of war scenario where if one side gives, then the other will reign. But with the God-Emperor? Lemme remind yall that he punched a moon or planet so hard that it broke into fragments. Check me on this, but I feel like it's a gg ez for the Last City. 2a. God-Emperor will stay by the side of the IoM, will gain back his memories, and might respect the Traveler. Sure, it's an alien machine that granted abilities beyond what the IoM have but the GE might see his newfound abilities as a leverage against hostile xenos and make his previous feats look like cupcakes anyone could eat. For example, the lore tab for the Fighting Lion exotic details a Titan known as Wei Ning punching a mountain and that punch caused it to move oh so slightly. Give the GE the powers of a Titan and that punch will send the mountain outside the Milky Way. 3a. GE and IoM fight the Last City. GG ez for the IoM. No diff as people would say in a fight between two fictional characters.

The God Emperor would have to fully die in order to be resurrected into the light. The body of Oryx could not be revived as it was still alive. Only the mind inside died (or rather, took a new form by becoming the Touch of Malice), and it wasn't enough. But if he did die and was chosen, he would likely get his memories back in one way or another. Psychic-based powers (like deepsight) have been shown to be able to restore a guardian's memories, and big E is a VERY strong psyker.

Once. That was to check if it had any memories that the Vanguard could use against Savathün. We have no idea of what the Relic could do to the GE. It could kill him and there's Hell to pay and Heaven to give. Just hope the Light provides.

@@theallsight7076 deepsight is constantly being used by guardians all over Savathun's throneworld, and is a power that the Guardian has canonically mastered and can use whenever. It just doesn't have any combat applications so it's limited to an interactable encounter mechanic in game, instead of being its own subclass. However, i never intended that deepsight would be used on big E. What i meant was that big E himself, being the most powerful psyker to ever exist, would most likely figure out a way to get his memories back; probably by prying them from the warp somehow. Might take him some time to figure it out though.

I think that in this scenario of cooperation between the Guardians and the Imperium, if the Space Marines or Inquisition actually encountered an Astartes who had been completely wiped by a Ghost, and forgotten their programming and loyalties- They'd probably consider that a dealbreaker for the alliance.

Kind of, originally when he made peace with them they did not. But in modern 40k, they seem him as the physical form of it but not necessarily the Omnisaiah itself. Like Jesus vs God vs the Holy Spirit type of a deal.

They do not really pray to the emperor. The emperor is seen as a manifestation of the will of the Machine God, hence being called “Omnissiah”. He’s more like Jesus.

Some of them do. The mechanicus are not at all unified in the details of there beliefs. Some belive he's the machine god, others say he's the omisiah, plenty don't think either but pray to him anyway to avoid problems, and many more would openly (or privately if they have self preservation instincts) deny him as anyone more than a guy that strong armed them into service.

Exos would just be revered as tech priests or advanced constructs. They are a digital human mind inside a mechanic body, so worst case they’d be deemed as an advanced machine spirit. The biggest issue are the Ghosts because they are clearly AI. The “infinite ammo” part is probably down to Glimmer, which is programmable matter. The Awoken would simply be Abhumans. The biggest question tho: Would the Emperor or an Astartes be worthy of becoming a guardian?

You're a superhuman, magical, basically turned into a Perpetual so long as your Ghost is alive. It's a pretty big boost to an astartes. Question is: does the memory loss remove all the hypnoconditioning that Astartes undergo to have full control of their body? Guardian Astartes not having the "know no fear" thing, or having no conscious control of their weird new organs is interesting.

It would, however guardians also do not know fear. Even more, guardians have been known to allow themselves to die just to get in an advantageous position or even get close to the enemy. So more charging in with reckless abandon, but this time, they will respawn where they fell.

The emperor is not dead - he's a perpetual, when he dies he can self-resurrect. Keeping him in the golden throne is a cruel irony, he could potentially have come back ages ago if they switched it off... Also, he's not the Dark King, he let go of that in the last Horus Heresy book... The Emperor could probably manifest both Strand and Stasis pretty easily, come to think of it. Anyway, the most terrifying option for a Guardian in 40k would be, to me, either a Custodian or a Krork. Both are peak fighters made with the highest genecraft of the emperor or the old ones, one of them suddenly being able to pull out a TCrash would be a new definition of terror. ... actually, the Krork would be worse, since it could tap into the Waaagh field and empower every other ork in the galaxy with the light, similar to how Savathûn's brood don't need to tithe anymore. So, one more question: do the C'tan oppose or side with the Witness?

Well, in Spire of the Watcher lore, there's Guardian who's unable to actually pop his Super, relinquishing control of his body to a Ghost for that, but that feels like more of an exception, given his particular circumstances, meaning that YES, you're more likely to get a potential of highly Powerful combatant than not

I think a more interesting question is this: what would happen to a Space Marine if they were Taken? Because that honestly sounds like a terrifying prospect considering how the proccess of Taking "sharpens" the individual and removes their percieved weaknesses. Edit: I also wonder if you could brute force a Guardian into a Space Marine. Given that Guardians are immortal i wonder if you could just do the same proccess that would usually transform a fit candidate into an Astartes on a Guardian while they die over and over only to come out the other end as a 8 foot tall immortal slab of meat.

Also, the light resurrection of a Guardian isn’t what gives them amnesia. The Ghost revives them and either backs up the memories of the Guardian, or decides whether or not to let them remember their past when they wake up. The oldest human turned into a guardian we know of, is a warrior from our own history, and was allowed to remember all her life back a couple thousand years before now. If the ghost wanted, it could let the emperor remember everything, and get a history lesson of the last couple millennia according to the imperium.

Would an astartes being brought back by a guardian for the first time wipe their memories with the influence of the warp?? I thought dead souls resided in the warp/became demons and guardians lost their memories cos they straight up died so if their soul is still intact and is brought back wouldnt they remember their life in the imperium??

Guardians can remember their past lives, Crow is an example but this is like the only time iirc. I think big E could do it too though especially since the imperium would take him back home and that would probably jog his memory like with crow

the light maybe can oppose the chaos warp , but it can be corrupted , chaos god can influence the guardians especially the one who memories forgotten can easily tempted them to join on their side, chaos marines may use a bolter like the rest average astartes but they have a specific ammunition that can literally destroy a soul and can pierce even ceremite armour easily. So if the guardians get shot one of them , they literally cease to exist and cannot even revive. oh chaos can also summons demons that can literally took their enemies souls and if the demons died, they can always come back. And you also forget about the tyranids , if the guardian facing againts them is a death sentence because the tyranids shadow of the warp that can literally block the presence of the warp and may even possibly block the presence of the light . Meaning turning your guardian into an average person and cannot even revive. With the presence of the shadow of the warp , Guardians is also losing their powers especially the infinite ammos and their weapons literally turn back into average weak weapons.

Shadow in the Warp, as its name suggests, can only block Warp presence. Ghosts however, can only be suppressed by the Darkness from the Veil and nothing other than that (maybe the Aphelion from the lore). So yeah, the Tyranids wouldn't mean anything to the Guardians. They couldn't even make a dent in a Ghost's shell.

I know this is a theoretical but this could never ever happen. For starters, the light doesn’t exist as a concept in the 40k universe, so even if the traveler did visit it would be powerless, and none of the inhabitants would posses the light inherently needed to create a guardian. And even if there was, guardians can only be raised from races that have specifically been visited and blessed by the traveler, such as humanity, the fallen, and the hive (although technically the hive got turned to the darkness before the traveler could intervene, but were still chosen by it in the first place). Edit: don’t want to come off as some butthurt destiny fan, I just despise 40k fans trying to weasel their way into every other sci-fi setting just to show how 40k would be so much more successful then everyone else, especially when they only have a surface level understanding of the other setting they’re talking about.

I still wish someday the many different Phantasy Star universes and Girl's Frontline and Punishing Gray Raven would be measured up against or within 40K hahahaha. Also light's physical buffs seem to be more reliant on the strength of the light of the guardian and not what their base strength was so not much benefit can be gained from being augmented pre-revival since if that's the case shouldn't most exo's be stronger than their flesh and blood counterparts post revival since a lot of them were turned Exo for hard and extortive labor meaning their robotic bodies where definitely made stronger and tire less than their flesh and blood bodies. There are weak guardians the ones unwritten because there's nothing to write about them and the ones that died pretty easily during the foundation of the last city and those who's ghost shells are collected by all sorts of characters in the universe including the big fat quest giving spider. Their light just ain't strong enough for as many revivals as ours. Also if the emperor's light is powerful I'm sure a lot of ghosts would have bothered him for a revival/partnership since it seems that guardians remember their past lives before they are revived as new light since the easter egg of the master chief in a cryo pod refusing revival with such a powerful light says that the previous war was more than enough hence the emperor would remember before making the choice if he wants the revival.

@@Buster-McTunder I don't remember where I read about it or maybe it's just some old comment from somewhere else but I remember the buff "charged with light" implies that the weapons are only empowered by guardians when charged by light is in effect through mods which also does all sorts of additional effects depending on the gun type based from that, one could say since their bodies are just tools for them to operate in the living world and it seems more like their light is connected to their soul instead so they also only get stronger and faster when they charge their bodies with light which is probably on most of the time but also means it's not on all the time kinda also implies that how much stronger they get is because of their light and not their physical augmentations before the light empowerment but don't take my word for it.
