I've said it before, I've been reading/collecting for 45+ years and X-Men have always been my favorite. While the Hickman stuff started out interesting it ended up being a dumpster fire. My pull list for Marvel/DC has diminished to almost nothing and the premise of the X-Men reboot is just adding to the list of books I will no longer have to buy. Comics will break your heart. 😔

I have liked a lot of Stuff Al Ewing has written, so Wonder Woman actually seems like a pretty good fit for him, and if we are gonna get the Jason Aaron from Batman Offworld and not hte Jason Aaron from Avengers on his new absolute superman then I'm down for that too tbh. Same for Snyder Batman, so if those rumours are true, I will probably be following the entire line yeah!

This is yet another missed opportunity. Why would any Westernized democracy allow the mutants to retain their passports? They wouldn’t. Therefore the post Krakoa era is an opportunity for mutants to live in other parts of the world (or even the universe) similar to the Australia chapter. I find very uncreative for Kitty Pryde last seen slicing up Orchis henchmen to be a barista at Star Bucks in Chicago. 😆

The X-tiles being all in the same place during Krakoa was a problem but what made it an awful and messy idea was how compartmentalized all the stories were from one another even though everything was supposedly transpiring at the same time.

The big problem with this is the same problem that most of the mainstream comics titles are having, trying to keep these characters going for decades. This idea of taking a bunch of young writers and telling them to go nuts with their short story writing styles and do slice of life takes on the X-Men, just because they’re out of ideas. And when they do get good ideas, like Krakoa, which was a good idea to begin with, they don’t know how to handle them and they blow it.

Update: Marvel did not in fact get a good writer on "Wolverine". Just announced shortly before this video was uploaded. Marvel revealed the creative team behind Wolverine coming in Sept. Wolverine 1 releasing September 11th is Written by Saldin Ahmed with Art by Martín Cóccolo.

It’d be great if Marvel stuck the landing on a few of these titles so if a non comic reader walked into a comic book store and picked up what was on the shelf, they wouldn’t be turned away from the hobby

Phoenix is the kind of book I would’ve really dug back in the 90’s when the Dark Phoenix Saga was only spoken of as ancient history and the cosmic areas of the 616 were really developing nicely after the various infinity sagas. Not sure it will work today though.

As a Storm fan that’s a solid take. I think Cyclops is more the strategist who gets shit done and Storm is more inspirational and relatable to people. You follow Cyclops when you’re focused on the mission and being more of a squad. You follow Storm when you care about teamwork and family. Of course there’s overlap and Cyclops has become more “feely” in his personality over time.

It's not that Storm would just take over any X team she was on, it's that she would easily take over THOSE teams if she were on them. Those are some weak choices as leaders. I'm not against the idea of a Storm solo, she has potential for superhero adventures in her own right and has classic villains like the Shadow King, but a politics book? That coupled with her 80s haircut contrasted with a business suit just tells you it's more likely librarian fodder.

I’m really appreciative of Tom Brevoort, Dan Buckley and the fine folks at Marvel for relaunching the X-Men with a more bland list of creatives as a whole compared to their Krakoa Era line of books before. At least we had Hickman and Laraz for some of it. I was worried that I was going to feel compelled to buy a ton more books, blowing my comics budget up. Outside of giving X-Men and Uncanny a spin, I have zero interest in anything else they’ve announced.

Being a Generation X fan I like the idea of a Emma Frost/Kitty Pryde school book however i am not a fan of the new characters and wished they had used some of the more recent students instead. Uncanny X-Men has the best team and setting....but it's written by Gail Simone who I have zero confidence in putting out a good non-cringe story. They've still got Claremont on an exclusive contract, why not have him write or at least co-write it so that it has some semblance of being genuine The rest of the books are just Breevort flinging stuff at a wall and seeing what will stick. NYX and Phoenix are pretty much dead on arrival and I don't see Eve Ewing's book going beyond 10 issues because people will just get fed up with it.

I just don't know what the hell Juggernaut is doing in the middle of the X-Mans, weren't his powers coming from a magical stone or something? What the hell do these writers have with planetarium? Juggernaut was part of the X-Men in the early 2000, less as a mutant team member and more of a human ally. Other than that, during Krakoa, he was made part of Nightcrawler's Legionaries on the mutant island (a religion police) and is currently helping in the War against Orchis. If mutants ever created a culture, then Krakoa's is the furthest thing from it : Their only "cultural customs" there were the Crucible (abolished after one year), the resurrection protocol (overused by the citizens), the Spark or Nightcrawler's mutant religion (whose writer still insists on calling a philosophy even though he wrote it as a religion and many characters during this era called it a religion), the slurs against humans (flatscans,...) and- No, that's about as developed of a culture mutants created in 3 years.

But it's just English that uses a different alphabet and it works on a basic "one symbol = one Latin letter" cypher so anyone can technically understand and read it as long as they are English speakers... Doug Ramsey came up with this. He really put little to no effort into the new language and I'm pretty sure nobody used it anymore after the first year on the island. Many people would consider the outfits of the yearly gala to be "new clothing" for the Krakoans... But it's just like Met Gala : Those outfits were ugly, unpractical and just serve to flaunt the wealth of the mutants who go to the yearly party. For the architecture, most houses are standardised unless you're part of the Quiet Council (Krakoa's government)... And even the standardised houses weren't that great or numerous enough to welcome the influx of mutants on the island : They had housing issues two years into the mutant nation existing on Krakoa, an island that is alive and could build stuff out of nothing. The mutant nation lacks basic infrastructure : No roads, still no hospitals, ONE basic school, no daycare, no pharmacies, ...

Speaking for myself, I only really want one good X-men book, and I prefer that to be "Uncanny X-men". If there must be a second, I'm lukewarm on "X-factor" or "X-force". As for a solo mutant book, I don't see anyone outside of Wolverine capable of carrying a book on their own from the gallery of mutants at Marvel right now.

I have gone from a one time fan on pins and needles that could not wait for the next X-men story line. Try to guess what would happen next. Who the next new villian or hero to appear or will Magento return Whom be fighting whom, the danger room drama ? Then I became angry fan, nearly having s stroke, the, poor wring, awful art, and worse the hostile pr campaigns againt fans. Now, I no longer care about it, the on going floppies. Which seem to later become limited series and that was the plan all along. Is there really any hope of saving this disaster "canon story line", we have. Even if they put on competent team on it. In my opinion they've ruined Storm during the krakoan era making her an arrogant mary sue. Maybe she's been arrogant ever since they married her off to Black Panther. I dunno, I used to love the character, less these days. I doubt very much than a solo series with her playing politics will move any numbers. Uncanny X-Men is the teambook I'm most interested in and it's the team with least krakoan era harmed characters (except for Kurt, I'll never forget what they did to Kurt). All that team is missing is Colossus (poor poor Piotr). X-Men might be good due to McKay writing it but I'm not at all hyped about the team. Only ones I care about is Cyclops and Beast. Magik and Fakelocke I could do without. Juggernaut shouldn't be there. And I have no idea who the weird looking chick on the iceman bridge is. X-Force... meh. Maybe? Exceptional X-Men. Emma Frost and a completely ruined Kitty Pryde. Nah. Phoenix maybe. Depends on what's she's doing out in space. NYX nope. Wolverine written by Ahmed. Hell no.

They ruined Kitty character and know that. I feel that Mckay X-Men will be similar like Utopia Era with Cyclops taking a more radical posture in how to deal with mutants issues. Everybody in that team have a huge body count and I don't see them like heroes. Rogue team maybe will the only one "heroic" version of the X-Men trying to uphold Xavier dream despise Krakoa Era killed that dream forever. I don't have any hope that the things will be better while Krakoa Era stay part of the 616 canon. The X-Men proved that all they can be dangerous and homicidal just like Magneto in the latest Era. Why humans should trust in them again? No chance.

To be fair, Chris Claremont did have Kitty as a barista in Chicago during x-treme x-men in the 2000s, so that part is in character for her I would say. The designs of the new characters look lame though, so I doubt that that book is gonna be good

Here is an idea: Like Civil War in essence, but EVERYONE is being gone after. Basically, the world has grown TIRED of superheroes and supervillains of EVERY TYPE. Basically every normal person says, "go away". Think of how many times NY has been DESTROYED, or the world invaded, or reality literally duplicated, multiplied, warped, torn to shreds, and or put back together. It could simply start with someone like Spider-Man being given a court order for property damages. Then escallates to an event like Johnny of the FF being on fire somewhere, and people literally douse him in water or fire-retardent. A stronger example, people get so fed up with a villian like Shocker, they put him in an ER. The even escalated, to Iron Man being arrested by ATF agents for violating weapon laws. Eventually it goes gloaball, with villians like Doom being deposed by an invasion. A sort of build up that OF COURSE will be reset. Maybe even have some new mutants, mutated, or gifted by random alien tech turn away from offers of heroes and villains and say, "No, i dont want your misery." That would be interesting.
