I started last year in December 2022, I became so much happier and self aware of my capabilities. I am 43 years, my only resentment is: WHY DIDN’T think about it before? Greetings from southern BRAZIL.

I'm 42 and I started CF 3 years ago. Of course, I got shaped and it helped me a lot with treating work and other kinds of things. I always try to tell people who I know how about going to CF box with me?

Great stuff. You are preaching to the converted with me but anything that reaches out is good. As a matter of interest do you do other languages other than English for such content.

Instructors need to be paid better!

That is determined by each individual gym. CrossFit does not and SHOULD NOT mandate a minimum coaching wage.

Don't swing. Don't kip. Don't cheat. I would count most CrossFitters at ZERO for most of the exercises they do. Imagine how good you will feel when you actually do the work without cheating. Strict form will keep you out of the orthopedist's office and away from surgery. The way most people approach CF, they are asking for an injury and an end to their fitness journey. Compete with yourself, not other people. Take your time, train hard and with excellent form. This is the way to real fitness.
@spencergsmith10 ай бұрын
“Don’t cheat.” Who made you the authority on the “rules” of exercise? Why are momentum-based movements “cheating?” Why are you applying the rules of other sports or training methods to CrossFit? Are push presses, cleans, and snatches “cheating” because they use lower body power to produce momentum on the bar that the upper body can take advantage of? Are gymnasts “cheating” by using momentum in their movements? Have you ever seen a front uprise on the rings in gymnastics? It’s almost identical to a kipping muscle-up. CrossFit has ALWAYS advocated developing strict strength before kipping, and we often train strict pull-ups, handstand push-ups, toes-to-bars, and muscle-ups. However, when trying to increase fitness (work capacity), kipping allows us to do that through higher power output (work done in a certain time). You hate what you don’t understand. Rather than criticize it out of ignorance, maybe you should seek to learn more.

Good CrossFit gyms teach exactly what you just said, “don’t cheat, use strict/excellent form, do the work, compete with yourself”
@OKOKOKOKOKOKOK-zn2fy10 ай бұрын
@@kcummo I agree, but if you watch the sanctioned competitions (*what most people know of CF) the exercises are sloppy and compromise form and safety for reps. They are all flopping around on the bar like fish pulled from the lake and arching their backs on their lifts. The internet is full of CrossFitters doing crazy/dangerous stuff and getting injured. If you want to save CF, it's time to say something; enforce the good form that will protect the athletes and our gyms too. Imagine what insurance costs the gyms.
@kcummo10 ай бұрын
@@OKOKOKOKOKOKOK-zn2fy I agree 100%. The sport of CrossFit has evolved to the level that strict pull ups should be utilized in place of kipping. Weekend warrior type competitions should also stray away from kipping style pull ups. It looks bad, and the risk of injury is high. That being said, if you watch the professional athletes that are well developed, their technique will break down but their bodies are capable of handling that since their broken technique is still better than a novice’s BEST technique if that makes sense. It’s the same as watching the first snap of an NFL game vs watching the 4th quarter. Technique breaks down under fatigue, that’s why there should be a requirement for having a high standard when fresh.
@OKOKOKOKOKOKOK-zn2fy10 ай бұрын
@@kcummo We agree, but when I look out into the gym, what I see are flopping and kipping pull ups. I also see dangerous form and too much weight being used too soon for the powerlifting movements. I believe this is a problem that stems from the culture of competition and the drive to take chances to win. Why not use a color grade system, like they have in martial arts? You start out and you wear a white shirt. Everyone in the gym keeps an eye on you and keeps you from increasing the gym's insurance with a stupid accident. They assume you know nothing and will be making all the mistakes nubes make. When you can do the required exercises and lifts to the satisfaction of the gym's management, you can test for the next color up. You will have to be able to describe the correct form verbally, so we know that you know what to do. Competitions would be replaced by a community of friends rooting for you to do clean reps so you can level up through the ranks and finally get to that coveted black shirt. Your shirt color would indicate your relative experience and knowledge in the system from across the room. As a gym manager, you could see five white shirts putting 315 on a bar and know to put a stop to whatever stupid stunt they were about to try.
