South Africa is a great place with a high standard of living. Your biggest fear is security of life. People are only leaving because of security .

True. For most factors of standard of living, South Africa is above average vs the rest of the world.

well said Frans; will add, sending your kids to university for some generic degree is not advisable. learn skills that can pay bills. Education and a qualification are not the same thing

Great insight. Thanks Frans. We also chose to stay SA. 👍

tell this to someone who has been recently burgled, hijacked, murdered, raped, violently attacked, jobless abused..and let me know if SA is still the best place

True - and then there is the degradation of neighbourhoods, with questionable characters taking over houses and empty stands, in what used to be decent peaceful suburbs. Ghettofication is a reality - flat complexes see a drastic change in character, spike in crime, and non payment of levies which result in the upkeep and maintenance of such complexes going for a loop. Can send u pics of whats happening in my area.

@@AndriesduPlessis exactly..degradation is evident everywhere..Sandton, Clifton, Umhlangha, Menlyn, Rosebank

There are very very few people who can diversify to the extent you are suggesting. Basically what you are suggesting is "be rich" or "be a genius".

As much as many people would like to emigrate, we cannot. Money remains a big problem, not all people are eligible for emigration to the countries where they will feel safe and be comfortable. Worse still, is South Africa’s currency depreciation, which means that unless you are under 30 you will need a LOT of money to pay into the host country’s pension and medical funds.

My strategy was to invest 50% of my assets into Bitcoin and started buying US stocks on online trading platforms to mitigate my risk of living in SA. My biggest fear is that our currency is going to devalue against the USD.

A totally useless talk ! Diversify your career ? Can a plumber become a teacher or a teacher become a plumber ? Can anyone change their place of residence ? Doesn’t he know other countries have stringent emigration requirements. ? This is a highly educated, very wealthy person giving advice to people who are not highly educated or wealthy. Why no useful advice ? e. g. If you own a house, should you diversify by converting the house into money by selling it, or keep it ? To sum up, this is a modern version of “ The people don’t have bread - let them eat cake ! “
