Anyone who has driven a small van, large, van, or truck will have no problem with the mirror as we're use to using just side mirrors. The digital mirror is a bonus then, most rear windscreen these days are tiny anyway. I suppose for people who rely on the rear view mirror you might struggle. My wife would hate it for sure but for me as a truck driver this is not a bad idea.

I thought vans with no rear-view mirrors had a special section of their side mirrors that helps them see just behind the vehicle as well as further away? 🤔 Nevertheless, this is not a van, so the customers this is being aimed at are unlikely to have a lot of experience with that. Also the side mirrors on this car only have a single perspective, so they don't help in the way van mirrors do.

Great review, plenty of relevant info, straight to the point and no irritating sensationalism, well done. Test drove this car but quickly realised it was way to wide and long for me. The central console area as in the polestar 2 was unecessarily dominant and since I use verifocal glasses I found the rear view mirror very frustrating. However the material quality and use was excellent but in my opinion it catered more to the rear passengers than the front. Rear floor still too high though but reclining seats and massive leg room make up.

I did a test drive of one this morning. Weirdest thing about it is that your eyes have to re-focus to see the rear view mirror. When you use a real mirror, you retain the same distance focus. Could be an issue if you’re even more long sighted than me. I’m really frustrated by so many manufacturers putting everything on touch screens now. And I love tech. I just want physical buttons for key functions. Not only is it a usability issue but also a safety issue when some things are three menus deep. If you could do more with the ‘ok google’ voice activation it would be good, but that certainly wasn’t that case for turning off the massage function(!) that the dealer sent me off with.

@@karstenreker1267 I suspect it won't work so well with varifocals - they have distance vision set at the top of the lens and near vision at the bottom. The infotainment is the best I have used, definitely better than Tesla. The only function I do not like is the line keeping function which I have to turn off every time I get into the car (that’s the reason why I always put it over the shortcuts display) hope polestar can let us deactivate the line keeping function entirely without having us to do that in every single drive. If you have varifocal spectacles, they are set to focus on distant objects at the top of your field of view. This works fine with a real mirror set high up, because the optics of a real mirror mean you're still focussing on something in the distance, but with this, you'd be trying to focus on a nearby screen which means it would always be out of focus as it's at the top of your view, which would be way too annoying.

Why have a rear window when you can have a camera instead 😆😂 even more bonkers then having everything touch screen 🤣 good review 👍

Yes it is better, no headrests to peer around etc

it's £60,000 minimum - and given all the drawbacks, that's just not on. It will be £50k fairly soon, I would guess... and then further down, as the stock just sits and deteriorates on a quayside ...somewhere.

Ridiculous what’s wrong with a window . It won’t neat updates or reboots . More expensive nonsense
@usseyps106317 күн бұрын
I would not recommend it for families with young kids, the thick rear pillars combined with no rear window makes it dangerous in my opinion and unsafe for rear passengers when disembarking unless under instruction from the driver which assumes he is in the car.

Get rid of everything in the rear of cars Firstly went the Spare Wheel, Then Rear Wiper, Now the Rear Window whats next ???

Ever since l have had cars with good rear-view cameras (some 10 years), l have never used the central mirror. Why would you?
@ihatehandles318 күн бұрын
old peoples habits... people with bad seight that refuse to wear glasses and turn back to look from the rear window when parking because they cant see for s#!t from the mirror and never use them while driving... self centered people that use the mirror to look at themselves while in the car... As you can see, there are plenty of reasons that a majority of people do not like this.

Polestar has moved from a very distinctive design to a generic Chinese one. I think Polestar has lost their only differentiation in a crowded EV market.

I think you need to know what generic means
@fred352718 күн бұрын
@oliverstemp9132 I think we all know what generic means. Perhaps what you meant to say is, "I don't find it generic", which is a valid opinion.
@oliverstemp913218 күн бұрын
@@fred3527 well it isn’t generic. It fits in with all the other polestar.

Using an Android device, using Gemini or 'hey Google' is second nature. I'll make a guess that maybe the reviewer is an Apple user. Log in to Android account and use the voice for everything. Works brilliantly. As for changing steering wheel, wouldn't be done on the move. Set the seating positions to multiple usrs based on account logged in so chairs etc would change to suit. This is rarely highlighted.

Who care's what category its supposed to fit in ? I don't go shopping for a 4-door-sub-compact-luxury-non-7-seater-non-tesla-is-it-an-suv-is-it-a-4wheel-motorbike I've driven the same VW Golf for 13yrs... I've adjusted my steering column - 0 times. I've adjusted my wing mirrors - a handful of times. Most people will be the same... that's why you can put the options in a menu.

@@anemeth9281 It is available here in China since January. I saw a few of them over the year. I guess this shows it is really a Chinese EV...

@PortfolioPL Except it isn't. Polestar is a Swedish company and a Swedish brand and the cars are engineered and designed in Sweden. The money behind it all are Chinese though but that doesn't define what the car IS.
@PortfolioPL18 күн бұрын
@@lt6532 It is a failed Swedish company who was saved by Geely It is built in China, but sure, better to call it European as like other cars from there it is not selling well here either, not really competitive on the Chinese EV market. Overpriced and filled with BS like "sustainable materials" no one here cares about.

We test drove both the 4 and 3 and although they drove great we won’t be buying one. While test driving we experienced the ‘no sound’ bug, after a bit of research Polestar are promising a fix (for over 2 years now), and more importantly a software bug which disabled all safetysystems without notifying us. They showed as working but didn’t work…

I have this car, driven it in all conditions and it doesn't get a drop of water or mud on the camera. Rear visibility is much better than a traditional mirror. Wide view and it moves with the indicators.
