as a girl who was raised by a single dad, this hits close to home. my dad would braid my hair before school, he'd cook dinner for us every evening, he would paint my fingernails for me(he actually did my right hand for me a few days ago lol). stay at home dads and single dads are so underrated. they love the child just as much as any mother would, sometimes even more in cases where the mother is abusive. Thank you and Godbless you all
@shelleyphilcox47432 жыл бұрын
@Owen Cadavos I think it is sometimes harder for Dads being the parent who takes on the home responsibilities because it can be more isolating as there are not as many of you and you dont always get the same support from other stay at home mums networks...often because people are afraid of gossip if they look like they are too friendly with a stay at home Dad. It can be quite lonely I imagine. Unfortunately, being a stay at home parent means no one ever tells you you are doing a good job, and that's no different if you are a woman. As a woman, especially a single mother, the world just wants to say you are useless and your children will be a disaster. You have to find the resilience and confidence in yourself that you know you do a good job, you have good priorities, you love your kids, discipline them when needed and take care of them and their home. A man does what he needs to and takes the responsibilities that are best for the overall wellbeing of his whole family and it sounds to me that is exactly what you are doing. Do not let small minded fools get to you one bit...you need to stop caring what others think and care about what you think and your children need from you...and that is being the parent at home looking after their needs. That's a man. I wish you all the best and hope that you remember that what children value, whether you are the parent working at home or the parent working outside the home, is that you love them and are interested in them as people and give them the best attention you can give them whatever long or short time that is available to you.
@shelleyphilcox47432 жыл бұрын

It's hard work on our own, and never for a second should a man accept any slur on his manhood for being a responsible parent working for the family at home and no woman should take a slur to her womanhood for working for the family outside the home. Responsible caring parents do what they need to do and want to do for their families, whether that's the financial end or the time end of what needs done to raise a family. However those responsibilities are split is whatever gets the best overall outcome for the children and parents in the circumstances they find themselves. My dad retired at 50 when I started university and my mom continued to work (and still does). Having my dad home full time has made our home more balanced, and stable. He is so dependable and the rock of our family! Whenever a child gets more time with dad than usual, it’s a great thing. I am now in my 30s and I can say that I have a healthy and realistic outlook on men because of my dad’s constant presence at home :)

I'm childfree but I love seeing stay-at-home dads because these are men who love their children and spending time with their children and didn't just have a kids to "spread their seed". They're actually being responsible for the human life they created. I also just love seeing them interact with their kids. I once saw a dad with 3 of his kids and when it was time to leave the park he just said "Come on buddy!" And it totally warmed my heart.

@paper plane “More a dad who cares about his family than someone who stays at home,” what? His role is worth less because be’s the primary caretaker of his and his wife’s children? Why? Is this your attitude towards the more common dynamic of a stay-at-home mom and an out-of-home dad? Her role means she cares less about her family because she’s not working outside? You’re ridiculous. 😂
@Killmeideserveit2 жыл бұрын
@paperplane1471 listen there dimwit. Parenting isn't a _ucking competition. Doing one thing or another does not make you more or less of a father. Both are hard work and important thing in the story is the child- if it's happy then it's good.

Imagine, taking care of a kid, 24/7, making sure they are safe, cooking, cleaning for them, and trying to find out what they want because they can’t speak or they can’t make up their mind. Calculate that. Cooking (chef), cleaning, (janitor), checking health (doctor) chalking safety (body guard), Many more too. Those who insult men for just taking care of their child are close minded people who dont see, that that is the most manliest thing a man can do.

I 100% agree with u. Being a stay at home parent is basically doing so many jobs and probably as stressful or even more stressful than those who sit in their office making money and complaining their spouses' job don't make money.

I’d rather you be out making more income for the household than you folding 3 stacks of laundey everyday instead twice a week.

My friend got made of for havig epilepsy I got into a fight with a girl over it she kept calling him braindead and claiming he wasnt capable of thought process because of having epilepsy several people came to defend my friend but this girl didnt stop she sent over 300 messages literally threatening him dissing him discriminating against him and bullying him and every other person who was involved in defending him. This would be a fantastic idea there are alot of illnesses diseases disabilities and medical conditions out there that people dont have control over and shouldnt be judged over they should also do a drug abuse one basically have someone who used to be a drug addict who's clean maybe have someone who knows their past and judges them for it I say that one too because there are soo many ex addicts that overcame a huge addiction but people get judgemental. Both of these would be fantastic topics to work with and hopefully give awareness to both. It would be good with ex addicts too because unfortunately some of the negative feedback they recieve causes them to revert back to those times in some cases it would be good to spread awareness for that too.

My mom had trouble with alcohol when I was little. My dad was always the one to take me to my drama classes and pick me up from school. He arranged play dates and cooked dinner. He played with me and took me on outings so I didn’t have to watch my mom struggle. I’m older now and we have our arguments, but I’m so grateful that I had a present and dedicated father growing up.

I also know a family who kind of falls into this category. The dad does have another job, but he has a very small farm, so he's at home the entire time. The mum works in the city in a well-paid job. This is extra great in my opinion: Not only is the dad there for his kids 24/7, they also have gotten to know how a farm works and lived in contact with animals and nature from day one. Seems like a pretty amazing childhood to me.

Calling it “mommy business” is so cold hearted & closed minded because a lot of people don’t have a mom & only have a dad & tbh it’s also kinda sexist cause dads can do what moms do & vice versa, like come on some people have 2 dads so what is one of them not supposed to “play mom” that kind of mindset that only one gender can do certain things or that anything anyone does makes them less of a man or woman is beyond ridiculous & disgusting.

I’m a stayed home dad for over a year now, after pandemic hits. I’ve been too focus on work the last 20 years, now that I’m comfortable enough, my oldest daughter is grown and off to college. When she told me all she wanted was to have more quality time with me and wished I didn’t work so much, it hit me super hard. I was focusing on giving her a comfortable life I didn’t realize the most important thing was quality time with her, that I can never get back. So I decided to retire and take care of my other 2 daughters and watch them grow up. Best and happiest decision I made. Don’t plan too much on the future and forget that you also need to live the present to get there. What is enough? Just a number you tell yourself

My dad is a stay at home dad. He worked nightshift for 10 years at a grueling factory while raising me and my sister to support my mom's dreams through college, and after everything she works her dream job and is making enough that my dad no longer needs to work! 5-6 years ago he was able to quit and raise my (now 5) year old sister while my mom worked. My parents love each other a lot and honestly stay at home dad's deserve upmost respect because it's the same as stay at home moms! My dad is amazing and he does everything for our family at home, my parents have it very even and I can tell they wouldn't want to trade it for the world. I hate when people sh*t on this kind of thing because honestly, why? It's really irritating Edit: spelling error -_-
