One little easter egg/foreshadowing moment that I love is the scene between Tam and Rand where Tam is talking about the wheel and rebirth. Tam says "We do a little better than the last time." It is such a massive nod to Rand's character development. I think Mat's run through the trolloc attack is a sign of his ta'veren nature. All four of the ta'veren charcters had close calls with trollocs but came through unscathed while others around them were injured.

I firmly believe the Egwene scene with the paint and Tam's fever dream (there's BTS photos of it in X-Ray) are going to be cold open flashbacks for some of the coming episodes. I could really see Tam's fever dream scene flashing to the Blood Snow footage from the trailer.
@MistaZULE3 жыл бұрын
I hope you're right. That would be beautiful. I also think they will do the cold open from the prologue of EOTW at the beginning of season 2 only if season 1 ends with the end of EOTW (the finale at the Eye where Rand saves the Shienarans against the Trolloc Army). It would be a perfect opportunity for the show to explain to non-book viewers what the Dragon is, who Ishamael is and give some world building for the Age of Legends so the reveal in the Aiel Wastes won't be as jarring. This is all speculation though, but this show is giving me hopes with how many details and small easter eggs they're dropping for book readers.
@nikkisweezea23883 жыл бұрын
I think the Egwene scene with the paint will be from her trial to become a novice. Or, possibly from Nynaeve's to become Accepted, both of which could happen immediately when they reach Tar Valon for the first time. ETA: I just went and checked in the episode, the dress is already dyed the colors before she goes in the river. It's subtle, but you can see the red and yellow in the scene when her hair is being braided and Nynaeve is giving her speech. There is also zero evidence that Nynaeve is cleaning up the paint in the cave. She says the cave and pool are sacred, it's most likely just her job as Wisdom to keep algae and moss from growing on the rocks so that they don't get too slippery and contaminate the water.

Yes, agreed about Layla being a darkfriend and attacking Perrin. But I think there's 2 more things to consider. As to her being specifically assigned to watch Perrin, that's not necessarily the case. Remember that he's the one expressing love for her which she accepts but doesn't really reciprocate much. She was probably told about all of the ta'veren and went there to investigate them, then Perrin has a crush on her, she plays it up to ingratiate herself in the village, things get a little carried away, she gets pregnant and they get married. She's not in love with him, but does like him and feels bad about what she's doing. Then the Trolloc attack happens and she's conflicted. There's a moment I haven't seen anyone mention yet. Yes there's the big one where she's about to smack him with the hammer, but look earlier at the very beginning of their fight in the forge. Perrin is fighting a Trolloc and she's behind him with the hammer, and she hesitates! There's a brief but very clear moment there where she hesitates, and I think that's the first time she recognizes she had an opportunity to take him down (probably not to kill him but just knock him out and bring him to the Myrddraal) but hesitates and her conscience gets the better of her and she fights the Trollocs first. She's angry with herself for feeling conflicted, and that's part of the badass battle rage we see here as she DEMOLISHES that Trolloc. But then the Trollocs are dead and Perrin is distracted with his wolf rage overkill moment, and Layla sees that she'll never have a better opportunity than this and she goes for it. But of course Perrin's spidey-sense tingles (okay, his wolf instincts) and he turns and kills her before he knows what's happening.

Great job on your videos, Jon! I love everything you said here. To add to your 'Laila is a dark friend' theory (which makes a lot of sense now that I think about it), she fell in love with Perrin, which is why she always had that sad look, then during the trolloc attack, decided on impulse to kill Perrin instead of giving him up to the Dark One as she had been instructed. I LOVE the whistling! My take on that is it is actually the crooning, haunting song of the Draghkar (that the EOTW explains is tracking the group for the fade). If I'm right, the showrunners pulled an absolutely brilliant move! First, they gave a nod to the book fans by including yet another easter egg with the behind-the-scenes Draghkar. Secondly, the whistling (Draghkar) that always seems to be accompanying the fade, led DIRECTLY into Padan Fain whistling the same tune! Thirdly, not a huge point but in my view it tied all 3 evil entities (Lurk, Draghkar and Fain) together in a horrifyingly beautiful way.

So, Laila married Perrin because while she is a darkfriend, she still has a life. And then, all of a sudden, orders come around that he is now her target.

I heard the theory on Layla Aybarra and it looks plausible that she is a dark friend. I think due to the fact that Rand lives outside the village he may be more protected from another dark friend latching on to him! Bring on episode 4! I’m firmly on this train and hyped! I think Color Egwane is going to be a flashback in a future episode. Something must happen in that particular scene that they didn’t want to show just yet. Nice Easter eggs!

I had the same idea about Leila. I saw people talking about the fact that she was about to hit him on the dusty wheel podcast and went back and looked. Came to same conclusion, she’s a dark friend

I don't think it's a huge stretch to say that Nynaeve cleaning a sacred pool that shortly afterwards has the dragon's fang in it is a nod to an event that happens later in the series where she helps clean something slightly more important.

My friend literally asked if the dragon's fang was a half of the ying-yang symbol and I was like "yeah...?"
