So, with the gestures for channelling - I think when we get Forsaken on screen, they will either not gesture at all, or it will be a much more subtle movement. Like, an Aes Sedai doing a weave will be like a proper HADOUKEN kind of thing, with all the whirly VFX. One of the Forsaken weaving the same thing will just do a flick of the wrist or something. And it'll carry through for Rand. A weave he figures out for himself will have a lot of big movements, but as soon as he's channelling something from Lews Therin's memory, it'll be like convincing a Stormtrooper that these aren't the droids he's looking for.

I believe its mentioned in one of the books, when Aes Sedai are talking with Sea Folk or Aiel, they mention that the movements are necessary because that was how they learned to make the weave and that the movements can be different from Aes Sedai to Aes Sedai. I was hoping to actually see the different strands of elements being woven together, that way we can see what Aviendha do, Elaine attempt, in later books.

It seems like they are going to focus a little bit on the relationship between Egwene and Nynaeve. First we see the ritual of Egwene becoming the wisdom apprentice (I presume) when she gets pushed down in the river. Next scene of them is when Egwene enters the inn and it looks like Nynaeve steps to the side as if she just presented Egwene to everyone like "this is the new wisdom apprentice (who just passed the test)". And Rand looks up as i if happy for Egwene and Nynaeve looks proud. This might be to build up the future strain between Egwene and Nynaeve. As in the books Nynaeve feels responsible for the Emonds fielders and find it hard to treat them as equals when they evolve as persons. Just look at how protective Nyaneve is in the end where she shields Egwene almost like Lan does to her in a another scene.

Really? Because I saw that scene in the Winespring as being very edited and disconnected. Like, the boys are talking and then Egwene comes in and Rand smiles but I definitely don't think those shots are in order like that. Rand looks like he could be meeting Moiraine for the first time or something like that....And Nynaeve's smile looks more like an "I'm being as nice to you as I'm physically able to because I have to." kind of smile, rather than a proud smile lol. Maybe I'm wrong and you've got it but every time I see that scene I always think "wow what's a lot of smash-cut editing!" which is really common for trailers.

I've got a theory that it is Karene and Liandrin that are shielding Logain when he escapes. Liandrin reveals herself as black Ajah when she lets go of the shield on purpose and Karene gets killed in Logain's blast.

I think for many of us familiar with the books we come to that conclusion, however if word and page count was dedicated to a character who had been negatively impacted by Logain's actions-such as perhaps a Warder whose Aes Sedai was killed-we might be more split about whether he is redeemed or even redeemable by the end of the series. 🤔🤷🏽‍♂️

All the weaves we have seen are white. I wonder if that is a standard viewer perspective for what's going on? For instance, as Egwene gets more integrated into the Aes Seadi, will we see the actual powers (colors) of the weaves in her perspective? That would be a cool idea and relate to how percieving channeling would be different for regular peeps.

If you look closely at the Lightning scene, you can see that the weaves slowly mix with lighting before they strike. So I guess that we will see the white weaves turning into the elements right before the impact. Like fire slowing twisting in the weaves before the final form is happening. That would be awesome, and don't make it too colorful and weired for the eyes.

We haven't seen Fire or Earth because women typically aren't strong in Fire/Earth. Seeing Fire as clear or white is going to be weird. Maybe they took advantage of season 1 focusing on female channelers who mainly use Air, Water, and Spirit. They could expand on the One Power later maybe?

If you look closely at the scene where Logain is breaking out of the shield, there's a flowing/bulging blackness around the back of his head and shoulders as he's kneeling. I've seen speculation that either it is black to show as Saidin vs white for Saidar, or that it's dark to show as a manifestation of the taint.

It's all about perspective and scale. The Tower might not be as vertical as imagined, but to me it it still looks just as massive, only a little squashed and a little wider. I'm not mad. Pretty much nothing will look how I imagined, and that's fine. Just as long as the end result doesn't look cheap or tacky.

Based off what I can see in the shots of Tar Valon they made the White Tower larger than it is in the books. In the books it is 600 feet tall and that monolith looks taller than 600ft. to me 🤷🏽‍♂️

I stayed up until 1:30am for the release time of the trailer and was not disappointed. I think I watched it at least 10 times before I finally went to sleep. My take aways: Perrin and the Wolf YESSSSS. The fade looks awesome and I love how different they have made them from the ringwraithes. Lan protecting Nynaeve (which I didn't notice until maybe my 5th time through) made me as giddy as a school girl. Gotta admit I thought the guy with the ring was Lews Therin especially since the voice over is mentioning Legends as they show him. For some reason, I think Leane in particular looks amazing. The actress who plays her is stunning, but she looks so stern and cranky and it just got me thinking of how much of a wonderful contrast that would be to later on. I love that they are dressing in their Ajah colours, which they honestly tend to do a lot in the books anyway (some ajahs more than others of course). I definitely wouldn't call it a uniform, since the styles seem to vary majorly with just the colour being the defining characteristic On a side note, I'd just love to add how proud I am to see one of Australia's First Nation people in such a big international production. She looks like an amazing Egwene and I'm excited for the rest of the world to get a taste of some of the incredible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent that we have here.

First scene, of the first official footage, is Egwene. Lets jump ahead to how it all ends 14 books later, and think about the fore-shadowing of her role. Nyaneave casts her into the water (most likely a woman's circle right of passage), she floats down to a pool, and comes up through multi-colored paint, causing her shift to take on a multi-colored pattern. That is also heavy fore-shadowing of how her character arc develops. Just, her cut scenes alone, have so much in them. Tossed into the water, afloat with no real footing for a time, she re-gains her footing, and a multi-colored decision is made, literally as the narrator says "that be come legend!".

They're pale enough that, as I was watching in my relatively small phone screen, I didn't even NOTICE the stole until someone pointed it out. My personal guess is that the sequence of Egwene popping out of the water covered in paint is a dream sequence foreshadowing for her. Almost a replacement for selecting the shawl in T.V. Go into the water, pop out blue...Blue Ajah. Pop out red....Red Ajah. She popped out with all colors and the voice over work says "Legend" as she emerges.

12:30 yeah, it is looking like to translate to film they are using hand movements and acted concentration on the detail of the weave in their hands, like cat's cradle, for those who don't know that is a game that you can play with a loop of string in your hands, you can also play it with other people but it is just one loop of string, so linking could be simulated on the same grounds. the game is to make complex patterns and designs without tying the loop into a knot. so it kinda works for "weaving".

I did like the 'Nazgul' shot of the Mydrahl or Dragkhar & it's the 1 thing I'm going to disagree w/ you on in that while they look GREAT & SCARY, the Nazgul are still MUCH MORE. Really doesn't matter, the important thing is that at this time it seems Amazon will deliver a GREAT show...looking forward to it.

The initial capture takes X female channelers but the shield weave can be maintained by fewer I think. I want to say it’s impossible to break out of a 13-channeler shield but maybe by the time they capture him they lost a few and couldn’t make the initial weave with 13? It’s been a long time.

I reckon it is Moiraine, Lan, Egwene and the boys. Maybe we meet Thom a little later and Nynaeve hasn't joined the group yet. :)

This may sound silly, but I think Rand's bow may be too short. the books make a big deal about the Two Rivers long bow and it's formidableness is a key factor in many of the battle in the middle and latter books. From what you could see in that shot, it didn't look like a 6ft bow. I hope they don't skim on the details with this weapon because it is what makes Shienaran, White Cloak, and other armies learn to respect these simple farmers when they come to battle.

8:45 :The Amyrlin Seat is the title for the leader of the Aes Sedai, as well as the actual seat within the Hall of the Tower. So, it‘s not a throne, it‘s the bloody Amyrlin Seat! You sure you‘ve read the books often enough? That’s in the glossary from book 1.

About the “impact of the AS on women culture”, it is also present in EOTW, however a little more subtly. The Bel Tine dance in the book is performed with multicoloured ribbons, but Jordan avoided on purpose to name the seven or even say there are seven. The ones described correspond to Ajah colours. This is not dwelled on, because that’s in Rand’s POV and the Two Rivers have no doubt long forgotten that there’s AS symbolism involved in those male/female rituals, which most likely back in the days of Manetheren and Eldrene was taken for granted. It looks like Rafe chose to make it more blatant, which in a visual medium he doesn’t have much of a choice but do, but I guess the characters will also be oblivious of the connections of their regional rituals with AS culture… which Moiraine the scholar might point out, however. About Moiraine in the Tower, it looks like they will move the events in Fal Dara at the start of TGH to Tar Valon and instead of being told the Hall wanted Moiraine back, the Hall will summons her. Earlier, Moiraine gets wounded, maybe at Shadar Logoth and end up somehow bumping into the party bringing Logain to Tar Valon. Notice only Nynaneve appears to be with them…. She ends up healed by Karene, but she is still likely resting during this attack by arrows Alanna stops. Karene dies during Logain’s attempt at escaping. It looks like somehow Moiraine will be forced to accompany Alanna back to Tar Valon… but there’s no sign Lan does. My suspicion is that Lan and Nynaeve will rescue Perrin and Egwene without Moiraine, and somehow reunited with Rand and Mat, now accompanied by Loial, they will join back Moiraine, that the Reds have failed in the Hall to force to stay in the Tower, at a Waygate near Tar Valon and proceed to Fal Dara. I’m puzzled about what part of EOTW they are skipping until season two. Everything points not to the ending but rather to Caemlyn…. could they intend to replace Cairhien and the Barthanes sub arc in season two by having Rand’s party follow Fain into Caemlyn instead and land himself into the palace and Elaida’s clutches, to be rescued by Verin, and wait until the TFOH season to go to Cairhien? It would mean Rand may not meet Elayne until Falme, which might be for the best.

Another observation: the whole thing about about Logain possibly escaping or coming close to (and honestly, it really looks like he will escape) and this involving Reds that include Liandrin is starting to be very strangely reminiscent not of Logain’s arc but rather of Mazrim Taim’s capture and escape, and I’m not too sure what to make of all this. It sure soundspossible that they may have decided to combine two characters that in the book are polar opposites. And this could be what Rafe meant by saying that s1 even adapts a bit of TDR….

Shadar Logoth part was dark and scary! I think it's also good to reserve some room to move to darker colors, since the start is quite light compared to what is to come!

I think they're gonna play around with the lighting, as a way to further emphasise the "battle between Light and Dark", so we'll see shifts from vibrant to dark etc

I think there are 6 horses and riders by the mountains so the scene is probably before nynaeve joins up with them

If you do some adjustments to the image of Egwene coming out of the water with the colored stripes of paint, you can see the feet of two people standing behind her, vaguely in line with a couple of the stripes. I'll bet there are seven woman standing around her in a circle, and this is part of an initiation in the White Tower and separate from the Women's Circle ritual in the river.

We see a lot of Air being used, but what about Healing? Aes Sedai Healing is Water, Air, and Spirit, which could be clear or white-ish. Nynaeve's Healing involves the other Powers, so they better make it look different!

My take is that they use this to further advance the channeling later on for the new discoveries and the forsaken. And also to avoid suggesting to new viewers that the colours of the waves are connected to the ajahs of the tower in some ways, which would be very confusing. People are dumb/not paying attention when watching a series, and sadly the mainstream streaming services (and movies) submit to their audience and lower the complexity whenever possible. (Imo the reason for the strong ajah colour coding)

ok 55 times is quite a lot, blood and bloody ashes man. SO... I didnt know this series was even coming out. last I knew there was a failed making of the prequel of a scene of the forsaken together but that was shut down by Jordans Wife, this was some years ago??? I am so happy I've found this channel, its pushed me to make a start on reading them all again. Done the first half twice and then ran out of spare time/steam to finish, but with renewed vigor its time to go again. I am glad I have you to breakdown the show and trailer etc in a way I can't do. I'm a massive fan but I lack your amount of knowledge I feel!!! As far as the pronouciation goes, its probably a dislect thing too whether you do long A's etc. I'm british but you say them the same way I do a lot in my head. Main difference is I would say A Jar for Ajah rather than ajguh I'm both excited and worried about this series, the depth and bredth of the world I wonder how they can fit it all in?

I really hope they spend time on explaining the differences between saidin and saidar throughout the series. Visually I’m fine that both are white streams but they flow completely different, or they are used differently. That was one of the coolest things when I read the books in my opinion.

I think they will! There has to be an exposition dump of some sort duting S1 for it because Logain is such a big part of the story

I suspect moraine is injured in Shadar Logath and lan, Nyenave and Moirane meet up with the Aes saide travelling with Logain. Hence when they are attacked lanave is in the front.

I can't remember the last time I was this excited for a show! I would read these books over and over waiting for the next one to come out. HBO did a fabulous job with GoT, I am hoping that AMZN follows that lead. Just started re-reading the series again. Thanks for this video my man, brought back so many memories. Man, I remember that feeling of sinking into the first book again, like a warm pair of slippers. Felt just as good last night! Looking forward to all your videos.

Yes the floating is Egwene surrendering to the flow of saidar , but Egwene emerging from the water is an entirely different scene I think... because there are colors of 6 Ajah all over her ...I think this is Min's profetic viewing

The axeman and the warder at the beginning are the same guy. Karene's warder. In the shot of the axeman, he's going berserk at her death, introducing the lore of the bond to season one viewers. Easy way to show the strength of the bond more than just saying so.

The trailer was absolutely awesome. I got more excited as it went along. As for the naysayers nitpicking about exact details...wow....just wow. Imagine the extra cost for every single detail that Robert Jordan, a wordsmith, put into the books being translated to on screen. It would be too cost prohibitive and the show would never get off the ground or would be cancelled after one or two seasons because it is just too expensive to produce. Close enough is good enough for the fantasy world. Imagination is key.
