"My friends are getting married after 1 month of dating." I'm Vietnamese and this is so true. Every single one in my family beside from me think that you should get married after 2-3 months dating. I think that it's not enough time to get to know your partner. In a 2015 study in the journal Economic Inquiry, they found that couples who dated for 1-2 years were 20% less likely to later get a divorce than those who dated less than a year. The study also shows that the longer the couple dated before marriage, the less likely they were to divorce. I believe that people shouldn't get married before dating each other for at least a year.
@jenniferbates2811 Жыл бұрын
This is very true. Most people don't take the time to learn and grow themselves before they start dating. Intimacy, sex, love, and sexuality are different components of individual people, and they should take time for themselves. Dating is fun, but it's not supposed to lead you to marriage. Dating multiple people helps you learn understand this

The part about being so moved by the fiancé's statement about his parents having no business about his life decisions was quite shocking. It made me realize how much we take it for granted that we don't let our parents dictate our lives and that we focus on our happiness first even if we love them. It's hard for me to imagine that it's an unknown concept in other cultures.
@aastha6823 Жыл бұрын
It is true, but somehow I think parents can save children from a lot of heartache too...they see the red flags right away, in India, we take our parents opinion into consideration and generally(not all) have long lasting relationships...I m often surprised how confident kids and young adult are in the western countries though...they are so sure of themselves...maybe due to early independence...
@NoxAtlas Жыл бұрын
@aastha6823 Well, I can only speak from personal experience as a German. Here, we do ask our parents for advice and take their opinion into consideration. But there's always a strong desire to make our own decisions. I think you could say that our culture defines maturity by our capability to be self-reliant and confident. Relying too much on your parents or being too obedient despite being an adult often results in being mocked by others. It's fine to ask your parents for advice from time to time, but it's expected that you make your own decision without being influenced by others.

Omg! I don't want to be a bloggers addict, but it seems like you're driving me there! What a cool funny person you're as I see from several of your videos! And this one is hilarious! You say you studies marketing back in Vietnam, but where are from these acting skills? I've been several times to Vietnam and met some nice people (although the overall opinion of people is no so positive, sorry), but I see others more reserved, following the rules, trying their best, but not as easy going and fun!! You are a treasure! Thanks for sharing your life letting us know and enjoy you!

You guys are cute. Your impressions are wonderful. I'm not Germany German, my grandparents came to America as babies. It's so uncanny how I see some of these quirks and habits in myself/family even a few generations down the line.
