50 years ago a farmer asked me what the difference between 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive was. I didn't know so he told me that 2 wheel vehicle will get stuck at the edge of a puddle and a 4 wheel drive will get stuck in the middle of the puddle

I would not have missed this for the world, not because you got stuck, but because we got to go with you. We all do things like this, sometimes when we are young and sometimes when we "should have known better". It just proves you are human and someone we would all like to know. In my younger days I put a car into a ditch, a field and a snowdrift. One time when I was in a hurry on my way to work I passed a slowpoke just before we got to 3 miles of hills and curves. Managed to hit the only patch of ice on the road, shot off it and roller-coasted through a field. Messed up a tire and the alignment. Life happens. Glad your knee held up. Take care of yourself, we like you.

Dougo, I have good walking story...back when I was young...got stuck in a pasture first 1/4 mile out to road then for next 1/2 mile there was a bull that was walking fence by me...thank god no bad spots in fence then walked another 1&1/2 miles of hills and hot out...1st place I got to had short driveway to house but could hear a guy & gal yelling at each other...stood by road was debating should I walk another mile to next place but decided to hot already...knocked on door went from screaming & yelling to dead silence...then they both came to door...I was like "Sorry to bother you but I have pickup stuck, could I use your phone" he said how bad, just need little tug and he had pickup in driveway...anyway he went pulled me out...I said how much do I owe you...he said thanks for getting me out of argument with wife don't owe me anything !!! Great video love all your stories too !

Pretty close to 50 years ago, I got a call from a neighbour. He got his loader tractor stuck trying to get a cow out of a bog and he got his other tractor stuck just driving to where he was stuck. We had a brand new 2wd tractor with diff lock. Drove down to help and I drove off track because diff lock wouldn't disengage and a short stumpy branch offcut from when it was logged came up under the belly and wouldn't let the clutch go down. I buried the new tractor, only three weeks old to the top of the left rim!. So now three tractors stuck. We had a long wire rope and dragged it down to first tractor. It ran duals but only had one foot brake working and no diff lock. We wrapped the rope round the barrel between the wheels and to a tree. Backed it out by using the good wheel brake and forcing the wheel that the cable was on to winch is out. Then lifted the cow out. Back to get the farmers other tractor out and that was fine. Then had to get our tractor out. Took both tractors to drag it back out. Was a dead pull because couldn't operate the clutch! Was an all-day mission, a great learning experience and remembered fondly. Fortunately NZ doesn't really have nasty critters or bugs to worry about. I do remember being hungry when I got home. The new tractor was covered it mud. Cow shed hose soon dealt with that.

Years ago I was a seasonal hand at a dairy farm. A hot air ballon put down in a field in the spring and we took one of the JD tractors (I think it was a 4020) and hay wagon out to load up the basket and ballon to help get it out of the very wet field. As you can imagine…we got stuck. Soooo, we walked back to the farm and got a bigger tractor (4430 I believe) to get the first one out. That didn’t go well either. About 4 hrs later, both tractors and wagons were back to the farm with the balloon and basket. And EVERYTHING was a muddy mess. Fond memories make us rich.
