Bird won league MVP three years in a row and for two of those years led the Celts to winning the NBA finals; along the way beating a super stacked and most likely the greatest 76ers team ever assembled led by Dr J (they were defending champs) and also defeating Magic and the showtime Lakers. Early/mid 80s was his peak as he won three NBA Finals in total (81,84,86,) before the back problems and bone spurs etc. And Bird is undefeated against MJ in the playoffs. Out of that whole era, Bird is the only player unbeaten against MJ in the playoffs. In late 80's/early 90s Bird was maybe half of his peak form and still managed to take one more trip to the NBA finals along with beating the infamous bad boy Pistons squad in the Eastern conference championship.

@chrisofeasttennessee7805 ай бұрын
Larry tore up his back working on his mother's driveway. That injury and the sudden tragic death of Len Bias destroyed any chances of the '80's Celtics reaching 6 NBA titles. From '84 - '87 (?) Boston may have played in more games due to playoffs every year than any other team. Lots of wear and tear on aging bodies.

Shawn kemp was fun to watch that team was fun to watch. I had his shoes the purple and black ones i believe his jersey which got stolen at the local pool while i was swimming so only had it for a few weeks. But as much as i liked Shawn Larry is called legend for a reason and if it wasn't for his back surgeries do to his reckless playing style which is why they won many games but if his back didn't give out during his prime years i truly believe he ends up with more titles than Jordan because he would've played many more years and simply toned down his play style and became a spot up shooter and shot 50% from 3 easily. He would kill it in todays game without a doubt he would definitely get multiple MVP'S in todays game because of his shooting defense and passing abilities he was definitely ahead of his time as far as his all around skill set.

Uh…..with all due respect….the Celtics were way better than those bulls teams back then. WAY BETTER!!! Celtics were an all time Great team during those years, with 3 HOFers in their prime. MJ was a great player with a team of journeymen that were under or barely .500, that would just squeak into the playoffs. Larry and MJ were not playing games of 1 on 1. So….the bulls were 0-6 against the Celtics. MJ wasn’t 0-6 against Bird. They barely guarded each other. Plus, MJ would statistically outplay Bird most times, but Bird had a better…….TEAM. That’s why the Celtics would win. 😉 Remember, the Bulls started winning championships when the team got better, Pippen and Grant emerged, MJ’s scoring average came down, and they became an elite defensive team. Just like in all team sports…..it’s usually the better team that wins. Even if the other team has the best player. ☺️✌🏾❤️✊🏾
