Thanks. Mine is 15 years old and constantly flowering, but has literally only been in one small pot the entire time. I cant wait to see what she does in the next few years in her new pot.

should the repotting be done after its been watered or when its dry and ready for the next watering?
@brianskinner5711 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips. Can I repot this time of year? Autumn....
@JustOneDonna Жыл бұрын
I never give any thought to the time of year. If my plant needs repotting, I repot.

Is it always best to water through the bottom? Is it bad for African Violet leaves to get wet?
@JustOneDonna11 ай бұрын
I tend to water my African violets from the base most of the time. Occasionally I'll give them a quick drink from the top but I use a watering can with a spout that reaches under the leaves.

You're adding more fertilizer to already fertilizer dirt? Why?

I didn't think you were to get the violet leaves wet

My african violet needs repotting but it never seems to stop blooming can I transplant when blooming or should I wait for the blooms to die before transplanting?
@JustOneDonna8 ай бұрын
I would wait, Sheila.

What size of pot is the teal(1st) pot ?
@JustOneDonna9 күн бұрын
The unglazed insert is 6 inches.
@JustOneDonna8 ай бұрын
I don't give that much thought. I'd rather the plant look healthy before repotting because it will shock the plant a bit. Just be sure to water well when you do repot.

Do the teracotta pots you use have a hole in the bottom?

Yes, they do.

Didn't get what size pots your growing them in and potting soil used ? thank you .
@JustOneDonna Жыл бұрын
The pots you see in the video are 6-inch pots for the mature plants and 4 inch pots for the baby plants. I match the pot size to the size of the plant. The potting soil I use is African violet soil.

Mine die if I get the leaves wet.
@JustOneDonna5 ай бұрын
It IS🙂 best not to get the leaves wet. In my experience, occasional watering from the top should not hurt the plant. Bottom watering is preferred.

it is in way too big of a pot
@JustOneDonna Жыл бұрын
Sorry to disagree, Anthony. These replants are still thriving.
@colleenmcdonnell5713 Жыл бұрын
@@JustOneDonna Yes, but look how much potting medium you are wasting. I have to agree, and was told not to keep moving to bigger pots. You can trim the stem when it gets long like that and keep it in the same size pot. Also, it’s probably not a good idea to fertilize a new transplant.
