Well it could be that you sent it in a text message or mentioned enough key words over a phone call. Could have been that you talked in range of any smart home device or phone. You could be logged into a google/windows/mac service on your phone and did some exercise or activity that you don't normally do in a different area so it figured that activity could have made you sore since you don't do it frequently. You could just be part of a demographic group that needs/uses ache relief products and the ad decided to gamble on that.

I like the fact that the algorithm has to see me learn that I can saturate a sponge with a thick starch, squeeze it into a ball, wrap it into a string and let it dry so when I flush it down a toilet or throw it into a sewer line the ball will expand back into a sponge and clog it. If I ever get jury summons, go to city hall or visit an abstract art museum I can pull this to give a plumber a job and spite the people I have contempt for in a pretty undetectable way.

My favorite algorithm quirk is when you watch 1 video of something you normally have no interest in and suddenly for the next 2 weeks 90% of your recommended is related to that 1 thing you don't actually care about instead of the 100 other things you watch on a regular basis. The algorithm recently recommended a video to me where a TV presenter picks up a bird-eating tarantula. I can't stand spiders, so I clicked that I wasn't interested, specifying I didn't like the video. No prizes for guessing how many spider-related options have been popping up over the last few weeks. It's like KZbin doesn't like me, and at this point the feeling is becoming mutual.

Pro-tip for KZbin: is you go to your history, find the motorcycle video, and click the three dot menu on it, there's a "remove from watch history" option. That will also remove it from the algorithm for suggesting new videos. :)

As @joshgreiner2599 said.... this is a real important and useful thing for the exact problem you are complaining about, specifically with the youtube suggested videos algorithm. If you know you just watched a video that you know you don't want to have all future suggestions contaminated by, immediately go to your watch history and remove it from the watch history after you watched it. You might need to refresh the history to see it sometimes. But once you see it in the history, remove it, and you will be happily surprised that the algorithm is mostly back to your previous normal. I fully expect youtube to "fix" this one day.

Here’s what I get ads for: diapers, toddler pull ups, adult diapers, bladder leak products, and those giant pickup trucks with like 8 wheels that you need a ladder to climb into. There's an old story where a supermarket chain started to recommend baby stuff to a teen girl, and her father got very upset, but later found out that she was pregnant after all. The algorithm noticed the change in her diet, and knew that pregnancy is the likely cause. So it could be that you are going to have a baby, a 90+ year old relative will move in, and your neighborhood will turn into a swamp. The algorithm is just trying to warn you. Actually this would be a fun movie. A sentient AI that sees the future, but can only communicate through ads.
