When Your First Match as a Blue Belt is Against A Purple Belt World Champion...

This was my First ever tournament as a Blue Belt. No Gi Expert Division at Five Guys in Chicago.
I looked it up after making the video. Dan Borovic was only a 1x world champion at Purple Belt. He had placed Second at the Blue Belt worlds, and also at the Purple Belt Worlds. Dudes a beast.

It goes to show you cannot discredit the value of physicality. By your own admission, you had very little technique and he had tons, but you played a very physical game and won. I think this would be a pretty important video for a lot of bjj players to see. Your belt color and credentials won't save you. All factors are significant - skill, size, strength, experience, confidence, intensity/effort, strategy, etc... to be clear, in case anybody reads my stupid comment, I know skill trumps pure physicality, but it has to be an absolutely massive skill advantage if you aren't going to work hard.
